Do-it-yourself computer desk drawing. Do-it-yourself computer desk: drawings with part sizes and video instructions! Small computer desk, set goals

There is a computer in every home, and it needs a comfortable one, with all the shelves and drawers necessary for comfortable work.

Of course, this piece of furniture can be bought in a store, the range of computer tables is very large, and it will not be difficult to choose a design according to your needs.

But the cost of exclusive models made to order is quite high. Therefore, many ordinary people are thinking about how to make a computer desk themselves.

Before you start creating this piece of furniture, you need to decide on the place of its installation, and only after that start designing the structure. There is three types tables for the computer:

  • straight;
  • angular;
  • combined.

Important! To workplace was comfortable and convenient, you need to choose the right type of construction, while building a table at minimal cost.

Straight

Straight design is a classic. If you figure it out, it's simple desk, with some additional add-ons. This option is suitable for those people who use a computer from time to time, for example, to communicate in social networks. networks. This computer desk is placed against the wall.

Angular

This model is for advanced users who spend a lot of time at the computer. Corner design is preferable in apartments and rooms with a small area, since they occupy the dead zone of the corner. You won't need much material for this design.

Important! The corner design is not suitable for people who work at a computer, documents and stationery will constantly get in the way at hand.

Combined

The combo table is perfect option for professionals, as the design has a lot of bedside tables, shelves, niches. This piece of furniture takes up a lot of space so not suitable for a small room.

Assembling this design is more difficult than the first two, but if you have patience, the result will please you.

Components

Any computer desk, unless of course it's the most simple model, has some functional areas:

  • shelf for system unit, must be located in such a way that the block has Free access, but at the same time all the wires were hidden behind the working area. The size of the shelf must correspond to the dimensions of the system unit;
  • countertop- an integral part of the structure, a monitor will stand on it;
  • stands for speakers is a required element. The audio system takes up a lot of space and it is uneconomical to put them on the table, and the table space should be as ergonomic as possible;
  • scanner, printer, MFP - should stand separately, and on the very top shelf, since they are not used every day;
  • keyboard stand- although some believe that this element is unhealthy.

Advice! The convenience of work can be increased by providing drawers for storing stationery.

How to adjust the drawing with your own hands?

Once a decision has been made on what configuration of the table you need, you can proceed to the practical part - direct do-it-yourself manufacturing. At the very beginning of the creation of the project, they are determined with the dimensions of the structure, specifically with the height. The standard table has a height of 75 cm, but there is a special calculation formula:

Important! Table Height = Height times 75 divided by 175.

If a person's height is 180 cm, then using this formula, it is mono to calculate that the height of the computer desk will be 77 cm.

If you find it difficult to create your own drawing, adapt an existing one on the network with your own hands. classic table for a computer is easy to manufacture and has such constituents how:

  • tabletop under the monitor;
  • keyboard shelf;
  • shelves for stationery;
  • drawers for paper;
  • two top shelves for acoustics or decor.

If everything is designed correctly, then there is a place on the computer desk for all the necessary elements.

After everything is decided with the project, you need to draw up detailed plan action, which will describe step-by-step instruction construction assembly.

Materials and tools

Before starting work at home, prepare everything you need. materials:

  • furniture panels 1.8x20x200 cm - 2 pcs;
  • shields 1.8x60x200 and 1.8x40x200 - 3 pairs;
  • boards 1.2x12 cm - 6.2 meters;
  • plywood 6 mm - 1 sheet;
  • drawer guides - 3 pairs;
  • pair of guides for the shelf under the keyboard;
  • fittings and fasteners.

Instruments:

  • screwdriver and drill;
  • hacksaw;
  • construction stapler;
  • grinder;
  • chisels;
  • building corner and ruler;
  • roulette;
  • sandpaper of various fractions;
  • glue;
  • brushes and varnish;
  • furniture tape.

The materials are indicated based on the fact that a classic design will be assembled. When creating an individual computer desk, this list must be adjusted for the project.

Advice! When choosing guides for drawers and drawers, it is better to prefer ball models, despite the fact that their cost is higher than roller ones. The disadvantage of the roller elements is that they do not last long, they do not fully extend, they do not have a reliable limiter.

How to make?

The assembly of the structure is carried out strictly according to the drawing, which was prepared earlier.

How to assemble the lower tier yourself?

First of all, it is carried out detail marking on the surface of the material:

  • three vertical walls;
  • countertop;
  • nightstand covers.
  • All actions are carried out according to the project.

Vertical walls need to be filed - the front, upper corners are cut off 2x2 cm, the saw cuts are cleaned.

Typically, a computer desk is installed close to the wall, so the bottom corners are cut to fit the skirting board. Usually this distance is 4.5x5.5 mm.

On the vertical wall at the back, which runs through the center, you need to make a selection, it will be at a height of 26.5 cm. The width of the selection is 20 cm, the depth is 1.8 cm. During assembly, a cross member will be installed in this place. The sample is made so that the element is screwed with self-tapping screws right up to the side walls. This panel replaces the back wall of the structure. In this case, the table will receive proper rigidity and stability.

Once all the elements are ready, holes for fasteners are drilled in the right places. If this is not done, then during assembly, the furniture board may crack at the attachment point. Twist the elements with self-tapping screws.

It's time to make a niche for installing the system unit. If you are a system administrator or a programmer, then you need access to the system unit and its components all the time. Therefore, it is worth equipping a stationary, durable and stable shelf with self-tapping screws.

The horizontal shelf and side wall are cut to the size of the drawing. At the side element, cut off the front corner from above, process with sandpaper. It is also worth filing the rear lower corner under the plinth. Screw the shelf to the side wall, then fasten the structure to the side stand of the table and the rear crossbar. The openings under the shelf and cabinet must be closed with panels sawn out for the base. The fastening in this case will be dowels. In this case, they are not treated with glue..

The lower part of the computer table is ready. You can start building a superstructure with shelves.

Computer add-on

In order for the computer desk to be as functional and convenient as possible for work, the project must provide not only shelves, a table top and a bottom for the system unit, but also upper part with stripes.

An add-on is more than just extra storage space small items, but also performs a decorative function.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Mark up necessary elements on a furniture board, cut out.
  2. All saw cuts are carefully processed sandpaper so that sharp corners were rounded.
  3. The sidewalls will be attached to the countertop, so you need to determine the attachment points.
  4. Make a template 1.8 cm thick.
  5. Attach the template to the countertop and make a markup. For more accurate marking at the ends of the template, you need to equip the holes with a drill and a drill.
  6. Then drill holes in the countertop according to the markup in this way:
    • drill through holes in the tabletop with a drill with a drill of the desired section;
    • drill blind holes at the ends of the sidewalls with a drill of the same section.
  7. To install the side elements of the superstructure on the countertop, use the building angle, it will help to avoid distortion in the structure.
  8. The side racks are screwed onto self-tapping screws under the tabletop, while the through and blind holes are combined.
  9. Next comes the fixing of the upper shelf of the superstructure, for this, an element of the desired length with a width of 31.5 cm is cut out from a 40x200 cm shield.
  10. The middle rack is cut out of a shield 20x200 cm. It should be equipped like side walls and install on the countertop with self-tapping screws, adjusting the perpendicularity of the structure with the construction angle.
  11. The next step will be the arrangement of the rear side. Which is screwed to the sidewalls and the end of the middle element. This process is also regulated by a corner.
  12. Now you need to arrange a place for the printer, which is usually located on the left side. Please note that the printer has a significant specific gravity, therefore, the shelf under it must be strong and stable. For greater structural strength, the shelf is not just screwed onto self-tapping screws, but is additionally attached to the side walls using furniture corners.

This completes the work on arranging the add-in, and you can proceed to the next step.

Drawer and drawers

Drawers are necessary in such a design as a computer desk. The functionality of these elements is undeniable. How to equip drawers we will now consider:

  1. For the bottom of the structure, you will need plywood, from which we cut out the elements of the desired size.
  2. From the board we form the side walls.
  3. Connect 4 side elements with self-tapping screws.
  4. Using a construction stapler and staples, connect the bottom and sides of the box.
  5. Important! The width and depth of the inner drawer is adjusted based on the thickness of the rails that will be installed on the inside of the nightstand.
  6. Fix the guides in such a way that a gap of 1.8 cm is formed between them and the edge of the bedside table. This is exactly the thickness of the front panel of the drawer.

The rest of the boxes are sorted in the same way.

Screw the guide profile at the required distance from the worktop, install the brake elements and the shelf.

This construction of the structure is not completed. Now it needs to be torn into components and treated with varnish. Once all the elements are completely dry, you can make final assembly computer desk.

Advice! To reinforce the structure, all end elements and fasteners are treated with wood glue before assembly.

Facing and decorating at home

Once the design is finally assembled, proceed to its cladding and decoration:

  1. The first step is to install the facades on retractable elements.
  2. Cut out the facade elements, grind the saw cuts. Drill holes in the places where the handles are to be installed.
  3. Attach the facade to the front wall of the box and mark the attachment point.
  4. Attach facade panel and fix it on the box with bolts that will fasten the handle.
  5. For added reliability cladding panel fasten with screws from the inside of the boxes. Self-tapping screws must be taken of such a length that they enter the facing panel by a maximum of 2/3.
  6. Useful video

    Conclusion

    As is clear from the article, there is nothing difficult in creating a computer desk with your own hands. It is enough to follow the instructions exactly, be patient.

    Important! If a decision is made to make a structure from MDF panels, then experts advise ordering a cut of the material into separate parts in a specialized workshop. It will not cost a lot of money, and the details will turn out to be even and neat, with the edge removed.

    Do not immediately take on too much complex structures if you have no carpentry experience, start simple.

    In contact with

    A computer desk refers to specialized multifunctional furniture that combines a desk, a place to place a PC, store documents and office supplies, convenient placement of peripherals and lighting fixtures. Manufacturers today offer the widest range models that meet all consumer requirements. However, industrial designs have one common drawback - unreasonably high cost. In this publication, we will tell you in detail how to make a modern corner computer desk with your own hands, consider the drawings, dimensions and popular assembly schemes for this functional piece of furniture.

    For self-creation suitable model Suitable for almost any slab Construction Materials with sufficient strength and decorative qualities. Among the most popular are:

    • chipboard;
    • plywood;
    • Natural wood.

    Some models are assembled from a combination of materials. For example, fake diamond or strained glass can be used to create a computer desk top made from steel frame or metal support elements.

    Size calculation

    Depending on your capabilities and needs, you can make a straight, corner or combined computer desk.

    The size and shape of the product depends on many factors:

    • Tabletop dimensions;
    • Choice of the location and configuration of the product (straight, angular);
    • Functional features (allocated space for installing the system unit, printer, lighting fixtures, distance between supporting elements, etc.).

    As practice has shown, most home craftsmen face particular difficulty when designing a corner table for a PC. Let's consider the calculation rules in more detail.

    Corner table design: product and installation features

    Before you draw a drawing, you need to decide on the design of the computer desk. In the classic version, such a product consists of three modules:

    1. Support box, which is additionally a dedicated place for the system unit;
    2. Cabinet with door or drawers. This element"in combination" is the second supporting element;
    3. Corner table.

    The scheme for assembling a computer desk is distinguished by its simplicity:

    1. Support blocks are placed along the edges of the structure.
    2. The tabletop acts as a fixing element of the modules, which is installed on the supporting elements with the help of dowels or furniture ties (ruffixes, eccentrics).
    3. To give additional rigidity, a leg made of strips of chipboard or metal is attached to the corner of the tabletop.

    Settlement rules

    Before doing corner table for a computer with your own hands, you need to draw up a drawing with the details and dimensions of all components. Dimensions are calculated as follows:

    • The length of the wing and the depth of the tabletop necessary for comfortable operation are determined;
    • The width of the supporting structure is calculated, which will play the role of a place for the system unit;
    • The dimensions of the pedestal are calculated taking into account the depth of the tabletop and the required working space for the operator.

    Important! For easy use and assembly corner model it is necessary to provide indents from the edge of the countertop to the supporting elements.

    Optimal table size

    In production use optimal dimensions this model. The standard dimensions of a computer desk suggest the following dimensions of the modules:

    • Tabletop (L 1 wings * D 2 wings * W) - 1344 * 1544 * 600 mm.
    • Support box with a place for a computer (L * W * H) - 510 * 250 * 734 mm.
    • Support pedestal (L * W * H) - 510 * 450 * 734 mm.

    Important! In this embodiment, the offset from the edge of the cover to the installation site of the supporting modules is taken into account - 70 mm. Chipboard thickness - 16 mm. The total height of the product is 750 mm.

    Minimum size

    When determining the minimum dimensions of the structure, it is necessary to reduce the depth of the tabletop, the length of the first and second wings, the indents from the edge, as well as the width of the support block for the system unit from the standard values. The drawing looks like this:

    • Table top dimensions (L 1 wings * D 2 wings * W) - 1104 * 1354 * 500 mm.
    • Support block with space for the system unit (L * W * H) - 490 * 200 * 734 mm.
    • Cabinet with drawers (L * W * H) - 490 * 450 * 734 mm.

    Indents are reduced from 70 to 50 mm. At the same time, the width working area it turns out 50 cm, this is enough for comfortable use by a teenager.

    If you are making a small table, make the system unit compartment open for better ventilation computer.

    Instructions: how to make a computer desk with your own hands

    After creating drawings with dimensions, we proceed to the practical part of creating a product with our own hands.

    From right choice material depends on the durability, strength and decorative qualities of the design.

    1. Natural wood is environmentally friendly, durable and decorative material, excellent for processing. However, working with wood requires a workshop and an arsenal of specialized tools;
    2. Laminated chipboard is an inexpensive analogue of natural wood. Plates may have different thickness, dimensions and color solutions, allowing the master to create cabinet furniture of any configuration and complexity at home. The main disadvantage of chipboard is low moisture resistance;
    3. Moisture-resistant plywood is much stronger than chipboard. However, this material is difficult to finishing, which significantly reduces the decorative qualities of the finished product;
    4. MDF is an affordable, heat-resistant and highly decorative material that has two significant drawbacks: low wear resistance and a decrease in strength characteristics during operation.

    The most affordable and easy to process material from this list is chipboard, which is used as the basis in the production of most models of cabinet furniture.

    Tools and preparatory work

    Self-creation of corner computer tables assumes that the wizard has a set of tools that will be needed during the assembly process:

    • Circular saw with pobedit equipment and electric jigsaw for sawing chipboard in size;
    • Drill, drills and cutters - based on the diameter of the fasteners and the method of fixing parts.

    In addition, you should prepare a tape measure, a marker on water based for marking and joiner's square.

    From the materials you will need:

    • chipboard (MDF),
    • confirmations,
    • a specialized drill and a hex bit for screwing them,
    • guides for drawers and a sliding tray for the keyboard,
    • PVA glue,
    • wooden dowels,
    • self-adhesive PVC edge for decorating saw cuts.

    Detailing

    Knowing the main dimensions of the future product, we proceed to the creation of all the details of the structure.

    The dimensions of the internal parts (shelves above the system unit and false panels) take into account the width of the laminated chipboard 16 mm.

    Important! Based on the design and filling of the cabinet (drawers, storage shelves), the dimensions of internal parts, doors or elements are calculated drawers

    Additional items:

    1. Pull-out keyboard shelf. If you use a laptop, it makes no sense to additionally mount a pull-out shelf. If you need a table for a PC - the dimensions of the shelf for the keyboard are 550 * 300 mm. You can make your own or buy from IKEA.
    2. Drawers. The size of the front depends on the required number of drawers and is calculated based on the size of the cabinet with a gap between the fronts of 2 mm. With four boxes:
      • the dimensions of the facade (including gaps) will be 450 x 166 mm.
      • The height of the drawer is 100 mm.
      • Depth - 450 mm (to use standard guides 45 cm).
      • The outer width of the drawer is 398 mm, taking into account the width of the chipboard 16 mm and a gap of 10 mm on each side for attaching the guides.
    3. Guides. This scheme assumes the use of classic detachable guides made of two elements. This is the most simple and a budget option organizing drawers (drawers, keyboard tray, etc.)

    Additional elements are optional. In some constructive solutions cabinet is equipped with a door, without drawers.

    Assembly steps

    As noted above, the assembly of the corner model is not particularly difficult. After cutting all the details of the table, we proceed to create the structure.

    Now it is important that the height of these elements is strictly the same. To do this, we substitute them side by side, and eliminate all differences with the help of adjustable supports.

    1. We assemble the corner "leg" with the help of a screed of parts with confirmations.
    2. A frame with mechanisms for the keyboard tray is attached to the reverse side of the tabletop.
    3. Holes (diameter 8 mm) are drilled in the side of the tabletop for dowels.
    4. Holes are drilled in the upper part of the support modules and dowels are installed.
    5. To fix the table top, the dowels are coated with PVA glue.
    6. The tabletop is installed in a regular place.

    The corner leg and the support modules are connected to each other with sheets of fiberboard or chipboard strips 15-20 cm wide. internal filling blocks (guides, boxes), doors are hung, handles and fittings are placed.

    Finishing work

    If laminated chipboards were used to create the table, then the finishing of the product consists in gluing the furniture edge to the cut places. This material can be made from:

    • melamine,
    • ABS plastic;
    • natural veneer.

    Today, 3D patterned acrylic edges are widely used, which will add decorativeness to your homemade product and significantly increase its value.

    You can also use T-shaped plastic profile, the installation of which will require the creation of a groove at the ends of the chipboard using a milling cutter.

    When self-finishing the edges of a chipboard table, some craftsmen use a C-shaped plastic profile, which is fixed on the ends of the workpieces with glue.

    Important! All options have the right to life except for the melamine edge, which is unacceptable for finishing a computer desk due to low wear resistance and small thickness.

    If the product was created using natural wood, then Finishing work are:

    • in puttying and grinding of structural elements,
    • wood impregnation with antiseptic and stain,
    • varnishing or waxing of the finished product.

    • When choosing chipboard, always pay attention to the quality of the coating, the geometry of the sheet. Pay attention to the column indicating the formaldehyde emission class not lower than E1-E2;
    • Do not use band saws and a jigsaw for sawing laminated chipboard. This tool practically does not give a chance for an even cut without chipping the laminate. The best option there will be an order for cutting the material, gluing the edges and drilling holes (according to your drawing) from the manufacturer of cabinet furniture. This will slightly increase the estimate, but will significantly reduce the time to assemble the table. As a last resort, use a hand-held circular saw with a tungsten carbide blade and a rip fence;
    • Do not use the standard desktop height (750 mm) if you are using a laptop without an external (remote) keyboard. With a high position of the hands, the back is more tense, which entails increased operator fatigue. As practice has shown, reducing the height of the table by only 70 mm completely solves the problem of posture when working at a laptop.

    Our life is no longer easy to imagine without a computer. Although some prefer laptops and all-in-ones for their compactness and mobility, the familiar desktop computer is by far the most convenient solution. But equipment of this kind must be placed in a place specially equipped for this, but often buyers do not quite understand how to assemble a computer desk, and whether it is worth doing it yourself.

    Before Assembly

    Before directly placing home-made or purchased furniture, you need to decide exactly where it will be located. This is an extremely important step, because the location of the equipment must comply with all safety rules and proper operation.

    The basic rules are:

    • The presence of outlets nearby and the ability to easily connect devices.
    • It is better to arrange the structure so that it does not take up much space in the room.
    • To avoid vision problems, the computer room should be well lit with natural light.
    • The wall to which computer table will be attached, it must be even, paintings and other decorations should not hang on it.
    • Do not place the equipment near heaters or radiators, otherwise the devices may overheat.

    By following these rules, you can eliminate most of the problems that may arise when working on a personal computer in the future.

    Assembling a computer table according to the instructions

    Ordering a finished table without assembly and delivery will save a significant amount, and the process itself, although it requires accuracy and painstaking work, is quite simple. Even if there are difficulties with the table assembly scheme or in the process, there is always the opportunity to contact the support center of the store that sold this product.

    Before assembly, check the presence of each necessary part and the circuit itself. The cabinet is the fastest and easiest to assemble, and the most difficult stage is the installation of moving parts, so it is recommended to start with the cabinet.

    Carefully fasten the support components to the table top to finished construction didn't wobble.

    Sequencing

    Unpack each package and distribute the parts. Put the small ones in some tray or box, arrange individual modules: legs, tabletop, etc. The countertop, as a rule, will be assembled at the very end according to the instructions.

    Prepare a screwdriver, 2 screwdrivers (flat and Phillips). According to the diagram, put the parts you need according to the instructions on the floor inside up, put metal mounts to match the holes, and connect them with mounting screws and plugs. Each part is connected exactly according to the assembly instructions for this table.

    Under the work surface, mount the guides for the keyboard drawer, horizontally and parallel to the floor in the places indicated for this purpose. Make sure the shelf slides in smoothly and without interference, and secure the rails with a screwdriver. Install the end caps and insert the caster shelf.

    Check all connected parts according to the instructions, the structure itself must be tightly fixed and not wobble. You can install and connect a computer.

    This algorithm is applicable to almost any type of furniture. Even such a difficult process as assembling a transformer table will not be unnecessarily complicated if you arrange the parts in the order of the diagram and carefully read the instructions.

    Making your own computer desk

    Design

    Sometimes assembling a computer table with your own hands can be a cheaper way than buying or assembling costs. But in this case, you yourself will have to think over the design, material, color, make instructions, drawings, diagrams and details.

    The first step in manufacturing is to design and plan your structure. As a rule, this is done using chipboard. It should be remembered that this approach will require much more attention and care than the connection of ready-made parts according to pre-written instructions.

    The main parameters by which you can design a computer table:

    • Type: corner or straight, rectangular, modular, multi-seat, stand table or transforming table;
    • Length: for extension and tabletop (space for user) recommend 60-70cm, for corner options this parameter will be no more than 60 cm, since the swivel space, space for the system unit, for the cabinet (30-40 cm) are taken into account
    • Depth: 60-70 cm (including the extension) or 45 cm (without it), for the corner model 85 cm;
    • Height: depends on the height of the user himself, the average value is 75 cm. There is a formula for calculating optimal height: height * 75: 175. For a child, it is recommended to include a seat height regulation system in the plan.
    • Cabinet planning

    It is also possible to find ready-made options, diagrams, drawings, instructions and photos of assembling any table in the network. This can slightly simplify the design and speed up its manufacture.

    Part preparation and assembly

    When already selected final version, all parameters suit the user and are well thought out, it is time to turn the idea into reality. In order to assemble a computer table according to the scheme, you will need:

    • Material: furniture sheet of the right size, use is allowed MDF boards, plywood or chipboard;
    • Machine tool, hacksaw, chisel;
    • Sandpaper;
    • Any lacquer to cover;
    • Self-tapping screws, fixing screws, drawer handles, pull-out shelf rollers and other parts provided in advance.
    • Pencil, tape measure, square;
    • Screwdriver and drill with drills.

    Once all the tools are ready to work, you can start cutting:

    First of all, you need to cut out the countertop, sides, top and bottom of the cabinet. Take the dimensions exactly as shown on the drawing.

    Cut the corners of the vertical panels, the back corners can be left as they are, as they will be directed towards the wall. Using sandpaper, round off any cut irregularities, sand sharp corners.

    Cut out a shelf for the keyboard and a stand on which the system unit will be located. If the drawing includes additional shelves, cut them out as well. Round the front corners, near the back bottom corner, cut a small area for the baseboard so that the shelves and stands are flush with the wall.

    Using a drill, make holes in the places marked in advance (with a pencil). Check if the holes will match perfectly.

    If a cabinet is provided, then cut out all the remaining walls and drawers, mark with a pencil where the drawer guides should be located, and attach them with mounting screws. Connect the bezel to the lower part, and then to the body walls themselves. Assemble the box, not forgetting the back wall, drawers, and check the movement of the drawers along the guides.

    Similarly, an extension is made, if it is provided according to the plan. To do this, use a drill to cut holes in the tabletop and on the vertical walls of the structure, where they will be attached to the tabletop to be attached to it. Take a square and set the sides so that they are perpendicular to the plane of the table, and secure them.

    Screw self-tapping screws on bottom side countertops, you may need to find someone who can help hold the panels. All other walls parallel to the plane of the floor are attached in the same way as the side strips. The main thing is to check with the help of the level their location relative to the floor.

    The assembled table must be completely disassembled. Mark the details in advance so that you can immediately understand what is attached to what. Sand every detail of the construction and varnish to ensure smoothness and long term service of your design.

    Connect the modules to each other according to the diagram and check the design for looseness.

    If the table stands firmly and does not tilt from side to side during operation, then it is ready for use. You can safely put it in a pre-designated place and connect equipment.

    The quality and durability of the structure depend on the accuracy of the installation and cutting of parts, as well as on the quality of the fasteners themselves. By choosing each component of your table model yourself, you can prevent breakage and other inconveniences that may arise in the future.

    Thus, in addition to buying already finished table, you can save quite a tidy sum by assembling a computer desk with your own hands. But such a method will require extreme accuracy, painstaking work and more time than assembling ready-made parts.

    A homemade table can look exactly the way the user personally wants it, the main thing is to handle the tools correctly and pay more attention to assembling and polishing the wood panels.

    Photo of the table assembly process

    Making a computer desk with your own hands is not so difficult, and as a result you will get irreplaceable furniture, because computers are in every home today, and it is much more convenient to use furniture specially designed for this instead of the usual one.

    Today on the market you can find big variety computer tables - a transforming table and a corner table are especially popular, because. they are not only comfortable, but also look original.

    But, what is most pleasant, you can make almost any model of the table you like by yourself, after selecting it from the photo.

    In the article you will learn how to make a computer desk, what tools you will need for this and how to properly mount the parts so that the furniture will last you a long time.

    Drawings are the first thing you need when creating a computer desk. You can take ready-made drawings, or create your own, suitable for the size of your room.

    Drawings are needed not only to see what the design will look like, but also to calculate the amount of materials and the price that it will cost you to build a computer desk.

    First of all, decide on appearance and functional elements of a computer desk: do you need drawers, pull-out shelves, stands for things, etc.

    The more there will be additional elements, the more difficult it will be to make the table, but the more functional it will be in the end.

    You also need to correlate the size of the structure with the size of the chair or chair that will be used for sitting.

    This is necessary so that the table does not turn out to be too low, or, conversely, high or simply uncomfortable.

    You can take as a basis standard size any office chair, because they differ little from each other.

    The shape of the computer desk is another important detail.

    It can be the usual rectangular, angular, or you can make a transforming table (see photo), which can change shape depending on the need.

    The last option is the most difficult to manufacture, but you can assemble it if you wish.

    The optimal table height is about 700 mm for an adult, and 600-650 mm if the furniture is planned for a nursery.

    If you are making shelves for a printer, scanner and other office equipment, then you need to first measure it and find out what size the final size of the shelves should be.

    The size of the computer desk is also affected by its location - try to ensure that the place is properly lit, the chair can move freely, and in general there is enough room for movement.

    The final scheme should reflect the size of all parts, as well as the thickness for the side walls and countertops.

    A high-quality drawing is a guarantee that you can easily and quickly cut the material and make parts of the correct shape and size, which will greatly simplify their installation and connection to each other.

    The drawing should also reflect the amount of detail - look at the photo for an example of a diagram before you start creating your own.

    After the drawing is ready, prepare the tools that you will need for further work.

    Most often, chipboard is chosen as the material for the table, because. it is the most economical, and at the same time high-quality and durable.

    In addition to chipboard, you can use natural wood or MDF, but then making the table will be more expensive.

    In addition to wood, you will need the following tools:

    • jigsaw;
    • hacksaw;
    • grinding machine;
    • screwdriver;
    • drill;
    • roulette;
    • chisel;
    • square.

    As you can see, there is nothing specific here, and, most likely, you can find these tools at home or in the garage.

    Table manufacturing and installation

    Do-it-yourself corner computer desk, a transforming table, as well as a regular rectangular table done almost the same.

    To make the simplest design option, you will need chipboard, the thickness of which is not less than 16 mm.

    They begin work on assembling a table of any type with the selection of parts that will fix the structure on the sides.

    Guides are screwed onto the boards, which are needed if you want to make drawers and shelves for your computer desk. Then the side parts are assembled on the dowels.

    To make the fasteners work better and fix the parts as much as possible, add PVA glue to the nests, or insert wooden planks. The walls themselves are fastened with self-tapping screws.

    The following parts must be assembled using parts to create drawers. For them, it is better to choose chipboard with a thickness less than the rest of the table - about 10 mm.

    Installing the boxes Special attention pay attention to the corners: they should be straight so that the drawers of the table slide out and slide in easily. Lubricate the PVA sockets, and after that you can install dowels.

    Then you need to paste over the side cuts with an edge tape so that it lies tightly, you need to walk along the tape with a preheated iron.

    But before that, put a sheet of paper on top, otherwise the surface may become covered with bubbles.

    If you see that the tape is wide and extends beyond the edge, then cut off the edge with scissors, but do it carefully so as not to damage the coating.

    So that the shelf can easily move along the guides, on its outer and inner side you need to glue wooden planks, the size of which matches the part.

    If the elements do not match, then the shelf will jam, so pay special attention to this moment.

    Look at the view of how the shelves for the computer desk are assembled - it will help you do the job better.

    The tabletop is the last component of a computer desk. Before starting its installation, you need to make markings on the chipboard, noting the places where the countertop will be attached to the supporting pedestals.

    In these places, you need to drill non-through holes, having previously installed a limiter that will allow you to control the depth of the hole.

    The cabinets are installed on the countertop so that the holes are directed upwards. They will be connected by stiffeners, which will make the structure as stable as possible.

    Wires will also be placed here, which will make the computer desk more convenient to use. As supporting elements, you can also use parts of the corrugated pipe, which will become a support.

    The next steps are to fix the plinths on the pedestals, then turn the structure over and install the hinges on which the side door will be held.

    You need to fix the structure with screeds so that it can be easily disassembled and mobile - if desired, you can easily move the table to another place.

    It is best to make a monitor stand on the table top: for this, first make a frame (small wooden round bars are suitable for it) and fix it with glue and dowels.

    You can also purchase a ready-made stand by fixing it with self-tapping screws.

    The last step is the processing of the chipboard table. It is best to varnish the surface, but you can also paint it in the color you want to match the furniture. general style your premises.

    If you decide to paint the structure, then first treat it with a primer. After applying the coating (lacquer or paint), it will be possible to use the chipboard table in 2-3 days, when the coating dries.

    Computer table-transformer is done in the same way ordinary tables, ordinary chipboard is also suitable for the material, but there is room for creativity: for example, a transforming table can be made with a turntable, or it can increase in size, and then you can use it not just as a place to install a computer, but also a full-fledged canvas to receive guests.

    To do this, you can make the monitor stand removable, or completely abandon it.

    Another unusual and popular option is to hide a transforming computer desk in a false cabinet, which you can also assemble yourself.

    This is very convenient for small apartments, because in this way you save a lot of space.

    In addition to the transforming table, in such a cabinet you can install shelves for books or documents - then everything will always be at hand at your workplace.

    Finally, classic version- when the transforming table has a sliding panel, which, if necessary, increases the working space.

    This is relevant, for example, if there are several children in your family, and they need to do their homework at the same time.

    Other options for how a transforming computer table may look, look at the photo.

    You can combine several, or come up with your own. original version, with the necessary skills and supporting videos, you can make almost any design model.

    For a comfortable homework it is not at all necessary to buy an expensive computer desk, it is quite possible to make it yourself. This piece of furniture can be assembled from the most various materials by choosing the desired shape and configuration. To make an angular one, one must not only choose the appropriate dimensions, but also determine what exactly the design should have, what functions to perform. Before starting work, it is recommended to draw up a detailed project or drawing, which will display all the required information (Fig. 1).

    Project for a computer desk

    How to make a computer desk with your own hands without outside help? It will not only be necessary to create detailed drawing, but also calculate the materials, cut them.

    Before drawing up a project, pay attention to the following parameters:

    Image 2. Do-it-yourself drawing of a computer desk.

    • table functionality. Think about whether it should have drawers, pull-out shelves, special stands for appliances and books;
    • it is important to provide for the dimensions of the swivel chair so that the table is comfortable to use. Usually the sizes are taken standard, all office chairs almost do not differ from each other;
    • for convenience, the height of the structure is selected within 700-750 mm, including the table top. If the table is made for a child, then its height may be slightly less;
    • the dimensions of the office equipment to be installed must also be taken into account, so that later you do not mount an additional shelf for the printer. Do not be too lazy to take a ruler to take additional measurements of office equipment before making drawers and shelves;
    • It is important to take into account the parameters of the room where the table will be installed. It is recommended to place it in such a way that the light falls correctly, the chair moves freely, and the seated person does not feel discomfort when using the furniture.

    It is important when performing calculations on the drawing to indicate all dimensions, including the thickness of the side walls, countertops. This will allow you to quickly cut sheets of material, assemble easily and efficiently. The drawing should depict the location of the fasteners, their number. Pay attention to the picture how to do it correctly (Pic. 2).

    Materials and tools

    To work at a computer, you need to prepare tools and materials. For work you will need:

    • long metal and short rulers;
    • simple pencil;
    • end planer;
    • square;
    • screwdriver;
    • jigsaw;
    • drill, a set of drills, a depth gauge that will allow you to drill blind holes;
    • Circular Saw;
    • brushes for varnish or paint.

    From the materials that are necessary for mounting a comfortable desktop, you need to take:

    • MDF boards. It is necessary to take sheets with dimensions of 2440 × 1220 × 15 mm, during operation they are cut, according to the project. From such plates are made side surfaces, drawers and shelves;
    • pine boards measuring 1200 × 150 × 25 mm, you need to take 2 pieces, they are used to strengthen the structure;
    • for fasteners, it is worth taking 120 screws, dimensions - 3 × 15 mm, the head must be countersunk;
    • ties for the corners of the plastic structure - 40 pcs.;
    • sliding guides, the number depends on the number of drawers and drawers;
    • self-adhesive or end edge, which will form the edge for shelves and drawers;
    • sanding paper for edging;
    • wood primer, varnish or paint for finishing.

    Table assembly

    You need to start work with the assembly of the side parts. Guides are screwed to the surfaces of the boards; they are necessary for drawers and shelves. After that, all the side modules are assembled on the dowels. It is recommended to add PVA construction glue to the sockets, it will make the fasteners more reliable. To strengthen the fasteners, you can insert thin wooden planks into the nests. Assembly example in the figure (Fig. 3).

    As the main material for the side walls, you can use ordinary fiberboard, but it is best to take MDF sheets, whose thickness is 10 mm.

    Image 3. Drawing of a computer table with upper shelves.

    Such walls are perfectly fastened with self-tapping screws. Next, the table is assembled with your own hands using spare parts for drawers. For the assembly of boxes, MDF 10 mm thick is used. During installation, it is important to observe right angles exactly, since it will depend on how easy and convenient it will be to use the boxes. All dowels are inserted neatly into the sockets, which, for reliability, are best smeared with glue.

    The side cuts of the shelves are pasted over with an edge tape, it is enough to iron it with an ordinary hot iron. To protect the tape, it is best to use a strip of paper to prevent the edge from blistering. If necessary, the excess edge is cut off with ordinary scissors, but this must be done very carefully. Wooden planks are glued to the front and back sides of the shelves, while their dimensions must fully correspond to the parameters of the part. This is necessary so that the sliding shelf can move freely along its guides.
