Metal plates for drywall. Types of metal profiles and their purpose

When constructing any drywall construction, a base is needed - a frame on which the GKL sheets are attached. This frame is assembled by technology from special products - profiles. About what a drywall profile can be, its types and sizes, scope - in this article.

Materials: what profiles for GKL are made of

A profile for drywall of any kind is made of steel and aluminum. Steel (plain or galvanized) are more common, since aluminum, although they have excellent characteristics, are very expensive.

Steel can be ordinary or with a protective layer - galvanized. Ordinary - made of black steel - have a lower cost, suitable for rooms with normal conditions operation. With their help, they make a false ceiling, in living rooms, corridors. In rooms with high humidity - bathrooms, kitchens, etc. - it is better to use galvanized steel or aluminum.

Types and sizes of drywall profiles

In any place that sells materials for plasterboard, there are profiles different kind and size. To choose and not be mistaken, you need to know how they differ.

To create wireframes

There is a profile for drywall of the following types:

  • guide. It is designated as PN (UD) (decoding - guide profile). U-shaped in cross section, with smooth sidewalls. It is used as a base-support for racks and lintels. It is attached along the perimeter of the structure, then all other elements of the system are installed into it. Dimensions:
  • Rack-mounted. Designated PS (CD) - rack-mount profile. It is inserted into the guides, and the plasterboard is attached to it. Accordingly, it bears the main load and must have high rigidity. It has a U-shaped structure with additional shelves and stiffeners, which give it greater rigidity. Dimensions:
  • Ceiling. Designated PP and PPN. Accordingly - guiding and bearing ceiling profile. The ceiling guide has a section in the form of the letter "P", has a smaller section than the wall guide. Ceiling bearing profile- has shelves and stiffeners, but differs in shelves of a lower height. A lower height, in order to “take away” less height from the room and that the plasterboard ceiling is thinner, creates less load on the frame.
  • Arched. It has complex structure- with cuts on the side faces for increased flexibility. Needed to create curved surfaces.

These are all types of drywall profiles that are used to build a frame. A “frame” is assembled from the PN guides, PS racks are inserted into them, which are then connected by jumpers (usually from PN) - for greater structural rigidity.

Additional profiles and accessories

There are several types of additional profiles that are used in finishing work, when creating suspended frame for ceilings, for fastening rack profiles to walls, etc.

  • Angular. In section - a right angle with a slightly protruding central part. Used to decorate the corners of plasterboard structures. There are several types:
  • Perforated hangers. it fastener in the form of a tape 125*60 mm. It is divided into three parts. The middle one is used to fix the suspension to the ceiling / wall, the outer ones are perforated, bent at 90 °, profiles are attached to them.

  • Anchor hangers for PP (ceiling profiles). There are several types. Used in the device suspended ceilings. Distinctive feature- it is easy to adjust the height, which is necessary when setting the ceiling plane.

    Anchor hanger - for easy adjustment of the false ceiling height

  • Single-level and two-level connector for software (crab). Plate with fixing elements for fastening crossed profiles. It is used in the construction of frames for suspended ceilings.

    Connectors - single-level and double-level

  • Profile extension. small size bracket (110*58 mm) for splicing two segments of the same type and size.

Most of these devices can be dispensed with. For example, two profiles are spliced using a piece of a guide profile of a suitable size. It is inserted inside, the shelves are crimped with pliers, screwed with self-tapping screws. The connection is more rigid than with special devices.

When creating a frame located along the wall, it is fixed not with perforated hangers, but with boots - sections of profiles bent in the form of the letter "G" (called "boot" - according to its characteristic shape).

Two ways to fix rack profiles to the wall - using a perforated hanger and a piece of profile

This is not so much a way to save money, but an opportunity to get a more rigid mount, since perforated hangers were originally developed for suspended ceilings and the load from wall drywall, and even laid in two rows, is difficult to withstand.

Profile length

Profile for drywall of each type may vary in length. Standard length - 2.4 and 2.8 meters. but there are up to 4 m.

Should I look for long profiles? It doesn't make much sense. Unless the assembly of the frame will speed up a little. The profiles under the GKL are perfectly spliced, while the strength of the structure does not suffer. Only when assembling the frame, it is necessary to make sure that the joints on adjacent racks are not at the same level. Usually joints are made alternately at the top, then at the bottom.

How to choose a profile for GKL

In a more or less large hardware store or even on the market, there are drywall profiles of the same type and length, but with a significant difference in price. The cost can vary twice, and sometimes more. Moreover, the most expensive ones are usually Knauf, the cheapest ones are unnamed China, the middle range is domestic manufacturers.

metal thickness

The difference will become clear as soon as you take the profile in hand. Some are strong, rigid, made of steel with a thickness of 0.5 mm, 0.55 mm, 0.6 mm and more. Others are made of such thin metal that they change their geometry even if the profile is lifted by one edge.

With this parameter, everything is more or less simple and clear. The thicker the metal, the stronger and stiffer the profile, but the price is also higher. Ideal for creating partition walls standard height walls take profiles with a metal thickness of 0.5 or 0.55 mm. If possible, you can take 0.6 mm.

The dimensions are standard, but the weight of the same profile may be different - due to the different thickness of the metal from which it was made

It makes sense to take a greater thickness of the metal only if the height of the partition is large - the load will be more significant and additional strength will not hurt. But in this case, you need to look at what will cost less - a drywall profile made of thicker metal or more often installed racks and crossbars. Just keep in mind that racks are usually installed in increments of 60 cm - so that the joint of the GKL sheets falls in the middle of one of the rack profiles. With a decrease in the step, the same thing is required - the joint of drywall sheets should not hang in the air. So it will be possible to put them only after 40 cm. So the seam will also have to be on the profile. But this is too many racks and is unlikely to be cheaper. In general, consider.

Manufacturer's choice

Choosing a manufacturer of drywall guides is both simple and difficult at the same time. All experts unanimously claim that the best are Knauf (Knauf). They always correspond to the declared parameters, have an ideal geometry: the racks fit perfectly into the guides, do not hang out and do not burst them. In general, working with Knauf drywall profiles is easy, simple, work is progressing quickly. But, this is just the most expensive of the entire range. Despite this, the advice is this: if you have no experience with drywall, you better buy Knauf.

There are several Russian firms in the middle price range. These are Giprok (Giprok) and Metallist. There are also regional little-known campaigns. Here's how lucky. Trust your feelings and feedback. It is not always possible to focus on the words of sellers. Domestic manufacturers have good batches, there are unsuccessful ones. In most cases, there is such a problem as a mismatch in the dimensions of the rack-mounted PS and guide PN profiles. Racks must be accurately installed inside the guide. To do this, with the declared width, for example, 50 mm, the actual width should be 1.5 mm less. Here, with the accuracy of observing this difference, problems arise. In addition, the declared thickness of the metal must be checked (with a micrometer). In general, it will work out to save money, but you will spend a significant amount of your nerves and time.

Giprok has a profile with a corrugated surface. All sides of the profiles - both the back and the shelves - have extruded "pimples". They increase the rigidity of the profile. This is true - the design is more rigid. But the connection of the racks and guides is more clumsy - due to the mismatch of the “pimples”, they are not attracted closely like the smooth walls of the metal. There is a second point - structures from such profiles creak more. With all this, such profiles cost a little less than Knauf, but working with them is more difficult. In general, it's up to you.

How to count the number of profiles

Knowing what type and type there are profiles for drywall, their dimensions are not enough. It is necessary to calculate the number of each type. It will be easier to count if you draw a frame plan on a piece of paper, sign the names of the profiles, put down the dimensions. This will not take much time, but it will help to more accurately determine the quantity.

Calculation of the number of guides for one wall

If the walls are very uneven, you can level them with drywall. A parallel wall is arranged, but set strictly according to the level. In this case, the calculation of the number of drywall profiles will be as follows:

If all the walls in the room are sheathed with plasterboard, a similar calculation is carried out for each wall, then the results are summarized.

Number of drywall profiles for false ceiling - PP and HDPE

The calculation here is a little simpler: the frame is assembled “in a cage”, so it’s easier to calculate it. The rest of the approach is the same as described above. So we consider:

In total, for a false ceiling in a room measuring 3 * 4 meters, you will need 14 m + 20 m = 34 m of the PP profile, 21 meters of the PNP profile.

In modern times, a large number of opportunities to make the room beautiful and cozy with a minimum amount of costs. One option is to use drywall sheets, which will be discussed in more detail in this article.

Peculiarities

Profiles are a very important element in creating any interior. In order for the structure to withstand the GKL, the profile is made of steel or aluminum. Steel options are more popular, due to the fact that these are economy class models. Aluminum have more good performance, but their price is not suitable for everyone.

There are two options for steel profiles - regular and with a protective layer. Ordinary profiles are not very durable, but they are cheaper. It is good to use such profiles for not very heavy structures, as well as in rooms where there is not too much humidity.

For rooms in which the humidity is higher, it is better to install galvanized or aluminum metal profiles.

Types of metal profiles

In any hardware store you can find a large number of different profiles. In order to choose the right one, you need to understand how they differ from each other. There are the following types of structures:

guide

The abbreviated designation of this profile is PN (guide profile), it is also called the starting one. It has a U-shaped section. The walls of this profile are smooth. Most often, this product is used to support various jumpers and racks, it is placed inside the structure, and the rest of the parts are put on it in the future. Dimensions: 28-27.50-40.60-27.75-50.100-40 mm.

rack

It is usually abbreviated PS. This profile is inserted inside the guides, the remaining parts are attached to these structures. The profile carries a large load, because of this it must be more rigid. He also has a U-shaped structure, it has additional shelves to strengthen the structure. Dimensions: 50-50.65-50.75-50.100-50 millimeters.

You need to pay attention to one important fact. If the walls in the building have a fairly flat surface, then it is better to fix the rack-type profile directly to the wall surface.

If the walls are not very smooth and have a strong slope in a straight line, then the profile should be installed on U-type mounts.

Ceiling

The main designations of this model are PP and PPN (bearing and guiding ceiling profile). This profile also has a p-shaped cut, but its cut is much smaller than that of the wall profile. Inside this profile there are small shelves and additional ribs to make the frame of the structure more rigid. This profile also has a lower height, which saves space in the room. In addition, it is worth noting that the drywall used for the ceiling has a smaller thickness, which reduces the load on the profile.

It is worth noting that the transverse rails should be fastened so that the distance between the fasteners is no more than 900 millimeters.

In order to do this, you need to use spring mounts and U-shaped brackets. To more firmly connect the jumpers, you can use crab clips.

In rooms where chandeliers and other heavy structures are located, the frame should be made with additional transverse beams. This will protect the entire structure from collapse. The size of the ceiling models: 60x27.75x50 millimeters.

Arched

The profile has a more complex structure, it has cuts on the sides, which increase the flexibility of the design. This aspect is an important plus for creating a flexible structure.

There are also a number of additional profiles. They are most often used to create a ceiling with suspended structure and other decorative works.

To make the structure stronger in places of special bending, you can use a corner made of metal or plastic. This is necessary so that the structure can be bent at any angle. Corner whips can be from 2000 to 3000 millimeters. The width of each shelf can be of several types: 20,25,30 mm. The smallest bending radius of the structure must be at least 500mm.

It is worth noting that the whips themselves are quite an expensive thing, and in order not to overpay 1000 rubles for each pipe, you can create it yourself.

To do this, it is worth making many large cuts on the side ribs at a distance of 40-100 mm from each other.

  • The corner metal profile in the section forms a right angle, in which the central part protrudes slightly. The profile is usually used to design various drywall constructions. Most often it is used to design corners in a structure. There are several types of them:
  • Two shelves with large and perforated holes, which are needed in order for the corner to look good aesthetically and become part of the plaster. The rest of the structure rests on this corner.

  • There is a corner profile for drywall with mesh inside. In order for adhesion to be better, a mesh can be glued inside the structure, on which the rest of the parts will be held.
  • Corner profile on paper basis. Two strips made of metal are glued onto thick paper. It is usually used in structures that receive the maximum load, for example, in window openings, various niches.
  • Beacon profile is used as a base for plastering, the main purpose this device- leveling the surface. This profile looks like a metal bracket. The width and height of this profile is small, the widest is 1-3 cm.

Additional elements

Another important element used in the design for leveling the surface with drywall is a suspension.

It also comes in several types.

  • The perforated hanger looks like a 125-60mm metal band. The suspension is divided into three parts. The central part allows you to attach the product to the ceiling, the side ones are used to hold the rest of the structure. A 90 degree bend is also made.
  • Anchor hangers are most often used to install suspended ceilings. The main advantage of this suspension is the height adjustment, which is very necessary for installing a false ceiling.

  • The connector is single-level and two-level. This is a connector that is used to fasten profiles that cross. It is also needed in order to make a false ceiling.
  • Profile extension - a device that is used if the length of the profile is not enough. It looks like a bracket measuring 110-58 millimeters.

How to choose

In order to choose the right design, it is very important to pay attention to what the profile is made of. For drywall, galvanized profiles should be used. This is the most durable material. In order to distinguish a quality profile, you need to focus on various aspects.

To collect good profile, it is worth observing some nuances.

  • It should be galvanized, zinc should be almost one hundred percent. In this case, the frame will almost never be subject to corrosion.
  • Metal profiles, especially models for walls, must be very durable. The wall profile bears the main load, and the profile must also align the wall well and not corrode.
  • The ceiling profile must be thick, otherwise the structure will take up too much space. The size of the product is 0.4-0.6 millimeters.

In the process of buying and operating, be sure to take the advice of professionals in the field of repair.

  • It must be remembered that walls and ceilings are never perfectly even after roughing. In order to level the wall, you can use drywall sheets, which should be at a certain distance from the wall. This will allow you to quickly level the wall without much loss of space in the room.
  • There will always be a small space between the insulation and drywall sheets. This is necessary so that moisture does not collect between the wall and the structure. A so-called air cushion is formed between the sheets and the wall.

  • There should be a gap between the wall and drywall. This space is very important during construction, it allows you to fit insulation into this place.
  • Frame - a necessary moment in construction arched structures, it is he who allows you to make the design more flexible.
  • Drywall sheets do not have a high strength threshold. If you need to fix some heavy structures, you should use profile frame, without it, the structure will simply break. Fasteners must necessarily be in contact with the main frame.

Auxiliary profiles

It is also worth remembering that there are auxiliary profiles. They are used during finishing work along with drywall and come in several varieties.

  • Reinforced thick profile well suited for rooms that have a heavy partition between the doors. It is also well suited to increase structural rigidity. Most often they have a fixed length - 3000-4000mm, but if you wish, you can buy a product with a length of 6000mm. The height of the ribs is standard - 40mm, the wall thickness differs from conventional profiles and is 2mm.
  • Protective metal corner. It serves to protect the corners from damage during operation. After the installation work the corner is puttied, and it is also covered with finishing paint. In order for the paint and mortar to better penetrate inside, use a large amount small holes. The length of such corners is the same - 3000mm.

There is another version of the protective corner, which is not placed under the putty, but is covered plaster mortar. In order for it to penetrate better, a special mesh is used.

Fasteners and various connecting elements

During the manufacture of the frame, it is very important to correctly connect the structure. Sometimes this can be done quite simply by inserting profiles into each other, but this is not always possible. In such a situation, it is worth using fasteners of various types:

  1. Double layer connectors. This design needed in order to connect two parts, at an angle of 90 degrees in different plane. Most often, these parts are made of galvanized steel in the form of a reamer in flat view. Before starting installation work, this thing will need to be bent manually at the right angle, the width of such a connection is 60mm. In order to fix the structure, self-tapping screws must be screwed into the side parts.
  2. Single-level connectors or "crabs". These fastening systems are used to connect two identical models at an angle of 90 degrees. You can find them in almost any store in ready-made. Installing this part will not be any problem, it simply snaps into place on the back of the structure.

If the load on the frame does not exceed 20 kg per square meter, then a conventional latch is enough to fix the structure. If the load is greater, then self-tapping screws should be used to strengthen the fixation.

Direct hangers

applied during installation. various designs, which are used for ceiling and attaching vertical type profiles to the wall. These products can be found in any store. They are made in the form of flat plates, and in order to install them, you will have to bend them manually in the form of the letter P.

To create a reliable, rigid structure, drywall profiles are used, which will ensure high-quality fastening of the sheet to the frame. Profiles form the basis of the design. Professionals divide them into two main classes - ceiling and partition walls.

Experts divide profiles into two main types:

  • guides;
  • rack.
Profile construction

Each type is designed to perform a specific function. Profiles are marked according to the Knauf classification, and are available in standard sizes:

  • ceiling guides - UD;
  • guides for partitions - UW;
  • rack ceiling - CD;
  • rack-mounted partition walls - CW.

With the correct connection of parts of different types, you get various devices from plasterboard, including suspended ceilings, boxes, partitions, walls.

Release items different sizes, sections and lengths.

Rack ceiling profiles

GKL suspended ceilings are not subject to mechanical stress. However, the profiles must be light in weight and firmly hold the drywall frame so that it does not collapse on the heads of the household. The ribs of the ceiling profiles give rigidity to the structure frame.

Ceiling profiles - the most popular. They are most often used in construction and finishing works. Thanks to standard sizes after working with rack profiles there is practically no waste. According to the Knauf marking, they should be designated CD.

CD profiles withstand the main load of structures. They are responsible for the rigidity of the frame, reliability, quality of fastening drywall sheets. Manufacturers make them different thickness. Thin parts are less reliable and require installation a large number fasteners.

The length of the rack CD is 2.7-4.5 m. In practice, three-meter or four-meter parts with a section of 60x27 mm are usually used.

Guide ceiling profiles

Ceiling profiles are used for ceiling installation, used in wall structures, various boxes to strengthen them. Guide profiles (UD according to Knauf) are located along the perimeter of the ceiling or wall. Rack elements are inserted into them.

The ceiling guide profile performs important functions

Guide ceiling profiles form the basis for creating a plane that will be sheathed with drywall sheets. The length reaches three or four meters, and the cross section is 28x27 mm. The reliability of the part is ensured by the thickness, thin elements are not used in ceiling structures. They are suitable for creating wall frames.

If desired hardware under GKL do according to custom order. All types are made of galvanized steel material so that they provide strength and withstand the influence of temperature changes with an aggressive environment.

Partition profiles

Specialists distinguish several types of profiles for partitions. Their use depends on the thickness of the future drywall partition.

Partition products marked with Knauf UW are used to create partitions as guides. The length of the part is from two to four meters, the width is in the range from four to fifteen centimeters.

Rack partitions with Knauf CW marking are knurled to facilitate cable routing. They are used to make partition structures made of drywall, they perform the function of load-bearing elements of the frame.

Parts are oriented for use in vertical structures. Manufacturers produce CW with a length of 2.75-6 m and a cross section of 50 (75.100) x50 mm. The most common types of CW profiles are three or four meters long.

Arched, beacon and corner profiles

Arched products are made with cuts and holes that give them flexibility. Their dimensions are the same as those of other types of parts, the rigidity of which is much greater. Knauf arched profile is bent to obtain an arc.

Details are used to create arch structures

Despite the outward simplicity, creating an arc for an arch is quite difficult. However, real professionals can easily solve this problem.

The beacon profile is used to align the planes. For example, to perform plastering works. The length is three meters. The element is indispensable for creating smooth planes. For example, finishing slopes.

Knauf beacon profile made of metal facilitated hard and painstaking work. It is installed in a difficult place and creates a flat surface. The material from which the part is made increases its resistance to negative manifestations of external factors, alkaline and other chemical influences.

Corner protection metal Knauf profiles are used to strengthen and align corners. They protect the ends of the partition from damage. Holes of five millimeters in size are created in the planes of the part. This contributes to the high-quality filling of the solution during puttying.

Additional mounts

To assemble the structure, fasteners are used, with the help of which the parts are mounted to the surfaces of the ceiling or wall. These include the following:

  • connectors "crab";
  • suspensions;
  • brackets;
  • extension cords;
  • self-tapping screws.

Masters use "crabs" to create all types of structures, including suspended ceilings, partitions or walls. Fasteners are used to connect when crossing parts at a right angle.

Anchors perform essential function when fastening profiles to the ceiling. Connectors fasten sections of profiles to each other. The use of extension cords is identical to connectors.

In order for the GKL to be securely fixed, special fasteners are used.

To attach a drywall sheet, use self-tapping screws, dowels, special screws. Their dimensions are selected depending on the dimensions of the profile, design and type of surface to which the frame is attached.

Additional fasteners help craftsmen easily, quickly and efficiently assemble any drywall construction.

Tools

To make it convenient to work with drywall, use special tools, which will help you create a design of the right size, reduce waste, get the job done quickly and easily. For this you will need:

  • scissors for cutting metal;
  • pliers for connection;
  • cutter;
  • divider.

Scissors for metal cut off parts of the desired size. The segments are connected with special tongs. Experienced craftsmen The tool is called a scraper profile.

To assemble the frame, holes are made in the parts and connected. This work is performed by a cutter, which punches holes for fasteners. The divider is used to connect profiles in the corners.

Quality material for profiles

When creating strong and rigid drywall structures, high-quality parts should be used. solid foundation will create parts with a thickness of 0.6 mm, made of steel sheets. However, manufacturers produce thinner profiles that do not always meet the requirements.

Quality parts ensure device reliability

Galvanized elements must withstand the impact aggressive environment, and to enhance the protective properties used polymer coatings. Such products are used even in extreme conditions.

Plastic profiles perform a decorative function. They are used in places where gypsum boards adhere to materials such as wood, glass, metal. Plastic products easy to install and give the structure an aesthetic appearance.

Drywall sheets are used to finish the surfaces of walls and ceilings. Their fastening requires a frame made of metal profiles. In the manufacture different designs fasteners of various sizes and types are used.

An alternative is the use of glue, but only a steel profile will ensure the reliability of the system.

Types of drywall profiles and their purpose

Varieties are conditionally divided into two types:

  • Rack (main).
  • guide.

The main component is the supporting component of the frame. The trim is attached to it. Profile with a "C"-shaped cross-sectional shape, with curved edges.

The main types of metal profile for drywall

The rack element is marked:

  • PS or CW - for walls and partitions.
  • PP or CD - ceiling profile.

The guide piece is attached to the base along the perimeter of the site (there is an excellent article about mounting the frame). Rack profiles are inserted into them. Section - "P" - figurative form. Marking:

  • PNP or UD - for the ceiling.
  • PN or UW - the basis for the installation of partitions and walls.

Rack PS profile - a strip of galvanized steel with a section. Has longitudinal grooves for better rigidity. It is applied at facing of walls and partitions as racks of a vertical.

This is how they look different types drywall profile

"PN" - a metal strip, a guide for the "PS" profile. The dimensions of the element are selected based on the parameters of the rack component.

"PP" - a line of galvanized metal, on the shelf and back - three longitudinal recesses. The ceiling profile is used for the manufacture of single-tier and multi-level surfaces.

"PNP" - a detail for a suspended ceiling, used in conjunction with the "PP" profile.

Profile dimensions for GKL

The characteristics of the profiles depend on their dimensions and the design of the drywall (see articles on installing a niche for a TV and making a pipe box in a toilet).

Profile "PP" is manufactured in various lengths from 275 to 450 cm. Common product options are 300 and 400 cm. Section size: 60x27 mm. Weight - 0.6 kg.

PNP element - profile length from 275 to 450 cm. Standard section and width 28x27 mm. Weight - 0.4 kg.

"PS" - from 275 to 600 cm. The most common type: 300 and 400 cm. Section: 50x50, 75x50, 100x50 mm. Material weight: 0.73, 0.85, 0.97 kg in proportion to the cross section.

"PN" - standard length, as in other options. Section: 50×40, 75×40, 100×40 mm. Weight of products: 0.61, 0.73, 0.85 kg.

The manufacturer must ensure that the products comply with the regulations. The shelf life from the date of manufacture is 12 months.

The profile is transported in its horizontal position, laying the parts on top of each other. Stem height - up to 70 cm.

Calculation of the dimensions of the drywall profile for installation on walls and ceilings

The number of guide UW profiles is calculated by the formula (H * 2 + L * 2) * K / 3, where:

  • H- height/width of the wall/ceiling.
  • L - perimeter (length) of the wall / ceiling.
  • K - correction factor is always equal to 1.2.
  • 3 m - standard profile length.

The resulting number is rounded up.

The calculation of rack products is carried out according to the scheme (L / 60 cm) * K, where:

  • L is the length of the room/ceiling in cm.
  • K is the correction factor.

The amount is equalized to a larger number.

The number of hangers (a small U-shaped part; more details about all types of fasteners for the profile are in) calculated by the formula: The number of rack profiles is multiplied by 5.

When making a room of 20 sq. m (4m by 5m), 3 m high, and 18 m long, you will need the number of profiles:

  • UW - 17 pieces;
  • CW - 10 pieces;
  • Suspension - 50 parts.

For ease of calculation, meters are converted to cm. The calculation was made for one wall.

UW: (300 cm * 2 + 1800 * 2) * 1.2 / 300 cm = 16.8 - when rounding up 17 parts of the PN profile.

CW: (1800/60cm)*1.2 = 36 posts.

Hangers: 36 * 5 = 180 elements. Attaches to the rack part and the wall. On one profile - about 5 suspensions.

For the ceiling, calculations are made in a similar way, and a ceiling profile is used. Only instead of the height of the room, the width of the surface is taken.

Gypsum fiber (GVL) material

An example of the use of GVL for floor installation.

A type of drywall made from building gypsum with technological additives. Raw materials are more expensive than standard drywall and has the following advantages:

  • High viscosity - the material does not crumble.
  • High sound insulation.
  • Frost resistance up to 15 cycles of freezing and thawing without the formation of defects. Due to this, GVL is used in unheated rooms.
  • Fire resistance.
  • Increased strength and flexibility - suitable for arches, niches and false ceilings.

GVL is divided into types:

  • Standard type - used in dry rooms with a constant temperature regime.
  • Moisture-resistant sheet - impregnation with a special solution, used in areas with high humidity: bath, kitchen, basement, attic.

The material is able to regulate fluctuations in humidity in the room without harming the sheet. A slight heat absorption makes GVL a warm coating.

Fiber sheets do not require a special profile. The same details apply to them as to ordinary drywall.

When building or repairing a private house, structures made of plasterboard sheets are very often used. Depending on the initial conditions and final goals, they can be mounted to structures made of various materials, and one of the possible and most commonly used options is frame structure from metal profiles.

Metal profiles for drywall can be used in the installation of structures of various types and purposes. In private housing drywall profiles usually used for the following purposes:

  • forming frames for suspended ceilings;
  • wall cladding;
  • erection double-sided partitions;
  • arrangement of niches for compartment doors.

On the market building materials there is a wide range of metal profiles various kinds and dimensions shown in Table 1.

Table 1. Types and designation of a metal profile for plasterboard structures

The metal profile for drywall is made from rolled galvanized steel with a thickness of 0.4-0.7 mm by rolling through a roll forming machine, which forms stiffeners and perforates mounting holes at the same time as giving the product the desired shape, and the zinc coating provides long-term protection of the product from corrosion.

It has a U-shape and is used in the frames of partitions and claddings as a guide element or jumper device paired with a rack profile, in compliance with the appropriate standard sizes (the same width of the back).

Table 2 Guide Profile Dimensions

For greater convenience and ease of installation, some manufacturers can make the back perforated for future attachment points.

PS (CW) - rack profile

The shape looks like a square letter "C" and is used as uprights for drywall partitions and wall coverings. Mounted in tandem with a PN-profile corresponding in size (same width of the back). The choice of dimensions should be made based on the width of the structure (affects the width of the backrest) and its height (the length of the profile from floor to ceiling without joints).

Table 3. Rack Profile Dimensions

There may be holes in the back for engineering communications, and on the shelves embossed with stripes or dots for centering self-tapping screws when screwing in and a mark when installing GKL (depending on the manufacturer).

PP (CD) - ceiling profile

It is applied at installation of frameworks of suspended ceilings and facing of walls. The shelves and the back of this profile have longitudinal embossing in the form of three stripes for centering the screwed-in screws and increasing rigidity. Fastening to the supporting structures is carried out with the help of suspensions, for the installation of which the edges of the ceiling profile are bent inward. Installation is carried out in tandem with the ceiling guide profile.

PNP (UD) - ceiling guide profile

It serves as a guide and holding support for the PP ceiling profile both during the installation of suspended ceilings from plasterboard and when facing walls with plasterboard sheets. Mounted in tandem with the ceiling profile.

Table 5. Dimensions of the ceiling guide profile

For convenience, some manufacturers may produce a ceiling guide profile with holes in the back for future mounting points.

PA(CD) – arched profile

It is used to perform structures with radial bends. It is made on the basis of a PP profile with the formation of even sections 150 mm long at both ends. At self-manufacturing arched profile from the ceiling, it is necessary to cut the shelves of the product into sectors, and then bend in the right direction with the required radius.

UA - reinforced profile

They are used to form the frame of suspended ceilings of reinforced strength. It can also be used as part of structures for fastening door and window frames, wall finishing, for placing wiring and communication lines, as well as installing partition walls with special requirements and increased height. Differs in the increased thickness of metal in a product and the increased shelf height.

UA - 100×40×2 100
UA - 125×40×2 125
UA - 150×40×2 150

It is used for mounting ceilings, partitions, attics, and wall cladding. The U-profile is used in cases where it is required to minimize the installation distance when attaching drywall sheets.

elastic tire

An elastic tire is used when installing gypsum boards in the space between the ceiling and the roof structure, with a small installation height, when cladding is wooden slats or brickwork.

PU - corner profile

It is designed to protect the outer corners of plasterboard partitions and linings, the plaster layer from mechanical damage. Profile has sharp corner(85°) and perforation along the entire length of each shelf. Putty penetrates into the holes of the shelves, which ensures a strong adhesion to the surface of the corner. Made from galvanized steel or aluminium.

PM - beacon profile

It is used as a support guide for finishing work on leveling surfaces (plastering, puttying, pouring floor screed). Fastened to the required level with the help of mortars.
