Photo exquisite interiors apartments or houses, the main decoration of which is a decorative fireplace, have won many hearts of connoisseurs of comfort and beauty. Creating the same interesting art object at home or in the country will not be difficult. Designers have come up with many ways to arrange an original hearth, using expensive materials and having minimal skills.

What is a decorative fireplace

A full-fledged hearth with a chimney, firebox, and real live fire is a luxury not available to everyone. The designers suggested that an imitation fireplace would look very advantageous in home interior. Such a decorative object can be not only simple decoration, but also a functional piece of furniture - a shelf for books, CDs, home photos.

DIY decorative fireplace

Dreaming of a home fire, you can create an artificial fireplace with your own hands or purchase a finished product. Simple decorative solution– electric false fireplace in the interior, it can be purchased at any store household appliances. An electric fireplace is suitable for rooms that require additional heating. The eco-fireplace looks interesting; it uses ethanol with the addition of bioethanol to create an even flame without smoke or soot. Bio-fireplaces are very popular in interiors; not only floor-mounted fireplaces are used, but also tabletop and wall-mounted eco-fireplaces.

From plasterboard

An interesting solution is decorative fireplaces made of plasterboard. A custom false hearth will transform your living room without spending a lot of money. Another important advantage: you can decorate the original building in any style, using stone, brick, wood, or forging.

First, it is worth preparing a full-size drawing in order to calculate the dimensions of the structure and individual elements. Will be needed, except plasterboard sheets, metal profiles, screws for metal. Step-by-step instruction will help implement the project:

  1. A frame made of a metal profile is attached to the wall, which will play the role of a supporting element, a frame is made from the profile, and self-tapping screws are used.
  2. The frame is covered with plasterboard.
  3. Drywall joints and places where screws are attached are sealed with putty, leveling and sanding of the surface are carried out.
  4. The fireplace is decorated with artificial stone, ceramic tiles, it can be decorated with decorative elements made of polyurethane, and a decorative grille.

From cardboard

When you want to create an inexpensive but effective decoration on the eve of the New Year holidays, a decorative fireplace made of cardboard will ideally fulfill this role, especially if you take care of the decoration: garlands, New Year's boots, candles. You need to prepare:

  • thick cardboard (you can use packaging from household appliances);
  • construction tape;
  • PVA glue;
  • tools.

Having estimated the dimensions of the future object and prepared a drawing, you can start working:

  1. Using a sharp utility knife, tape, and PVA glue, a portal is created from cardboard. More difficult to perform corner fireplace. Having accurately measured the angle, you need to calculate the dimensions of the structure so that large gaps do not form between the walls and the upper tabletop.
  2. Front part decorative fireplace finished with polyurethane moldings, including around the firebox.
  3. When all the parts are firmly fixed, the structure is puttied, smoothing out all the errors, and sanded.
  4. Painting is done with water-based paint.

From foam plastic

If there are materials left over from the renovation, it’s worth trying to make a decorative fireplace from polystyrene foam. You will get an inexpensive imitation of a fireplace in an apartment if you do everything correctly:

  1. Sheets of foam plastic are cut with a stationery knife: two pieces measuring 60x40 cm and two pieces measuring 40x20 cm.
  2. The blanks are glued together at right angles to the joints, smeared with PVA glue and secured with wooden toothpicks and tape on the inside.
  3. In the front part of the frame, a firebox is cut out with a knife.
  4. The frame must be primed and cleaned with fine sandpaper, paint with water-based paint.
  5. The decor is made with elegant ribbon, finishing paper, polyurethane skirting boards, moldings, decorative elements.

Made of wood

A false fireplace made of wood will be durable and functional. An accurate drawing will help avoid mistakes and unnecessary expenses material. The frame is made from wooden beam with a cross section of 40x40 mm, plywood is used for cladding. Having some experience in carpentry, such an object can be made in a few evenings:

  1. The timber is marked, and the base of the fireplace is made using wood screws. Vertical racks The dowel is attached to the wall with nails.
  2. A plywood sheet 0.5-0.7 cm thick is marked and cut with a jigsaw or a hand hacksaw according to size. The sections are treated with sandpaper.
  3. Plywood is attached to a wooden frame with self-tapping screws, covering the base and firebox.
  4. Fireplace decor is done using finishing film, wallpaper, decorative panels, polyurethane baguettes and moldings.

Do-it-yourself imitation of fire in a fireplace

What is a fireplace without a mesmerizing flame? You can simulate a fire in a fireplace with your own hands different ways. The simplest solution is to install backlighting using a “Candle” lamp or LED strip. An interesting effect will be obtained if you perform a composition for which you need:

  • wooden branches;
  • beautiful stones;
  • lace;
  • foil,
  • New Year's garland;
  • PVA glue.

The sequence of work is as follows:

  1. Each branch is wrapped in foil, a layer of glue is applied on top and overlapped with lace.
  2. When the pasted branches have dried, the lace sheath is carefully removed by cutting along the branch with a stationery knife. P
  3. In the hearth, stones are laid out in a circle, in the middle of which an LED garland is installed. Openwork branches are placed vertically, at an angle, so that the lower edges rest on the stones and the upper edges touch each other. You can make the structure more durable with glue or tape.
  4. All that remains is to connect the garland and admire the flickering lights.

Artificial fire for the fireplace

There are other ways to depict artificial fire in the fireplace - both expensive and budget. For example, it is not difficult to simulate fire using a hologram, for which you need to purchase a picture of a flame depicted in three-dimensional format. Having installed the picture in the firebox, you need to install lighting using halogen or LED lamps. The 3D image, skillfully illuminated with flickering light, will enhance the feeling that a live fire is burning

Imitation of firewood for a fireplace

Using an LED strip or garland for illumination, you can lay out a picturesque pyramid of firewood in the firebox, masking the lighting between them. Online stores sell special artificial firewood for fireplaces made of plastic and ceramics. You just need to connect such elements to the power supply, and they will be beautifully illuminated from the inside with built-in light bulbs.

False fireplace with candles

A false fireplace with candles looks cozy in the interior. When arranging it, it is important to remember fire safety. Lined in the fireplace insert non-flammable materials, install thick candles. Compositions made from candles of different heights look especially advantageous. It's nice to light the lights on winter evenings; their flickering light creates a special atmosphere of warmth and love.

Video: How to make a decorative fireplace with your own hands

Creating a false fireplace – exciting activity, even women can implement such a project. The main thing is to study the advice of experts, think carefully about the design and take care of fire safety if you plan to use live fire. The videos will help you understand the basic principles of constructing a decorative fireplace from different materials.

IN pre-revolutionary Russia and other countries of the current CIS, fireplaces have always been popular as an interior detail and a functional element for heating homes. The twentieth century, due to total gasification and the development of electrical networks, pushed aside fireplaces and other heating structures to the background - open fire became a rarity in the room. A century later, the fashion for fireplaces returned to the vastness of the Motherland, becoming a trend in the design of comfortable housing. It is difficult and expensive to equip a full-fledged fireplace in a city apartment, so inquisitive minds came up with an alternative - decorative fireplace made with your own hands.

As you may have guessed, the word “decorative” in this case means that such interior items are not heated with firewood, but, definitely, in terms of comfort they are 100% fulfilled. The advantages of a decorative fireplace are the relative ease of manufacture, the possibility of using scrap materials and excellent aesthetic characteristics.

Given the apparent simplicity of this solution, you may naturally have a question: “how to replace a live fire in a false fireplace?” The first part of the article will tell you about methods for solving the problem.

Option one: genius in simplicity!

One obvious solution is to use Dec. candles in the fireplace. Firstly, they are smokeless, which means they do not require a hood. Secondly, they are practically safe.

Advice: Equip the rear side walls a false fireplace with mirrors - the visual effect of similarity will increase.

Option two: wood creates comfort even without a flame

Another substitute for flames are logs: lay out the firewood in a picturesque disorder or in a “hut” - this will create the impression that the fireplace is working and a fire can blaze in it at any moment.

Option three: “Papa Carlo’s closet”

Remember, in the fairy tale “The Golden Key”, Papa Carlo has a painted fireplace instead of a hearth? Use this idea for your own interior! There are many variations in the implementation of this idea - from a black board (like in school) to printing on fabric or canvas.

If you choose a plane for drawing with chalk, you can update the drawing as much as you want, drawing not only the fire itself, but also anything that comes to mind. This choice is especially relevant for children - the slate plane within reach will open up great opportunities for children to be creative and develop artistic skills.

Option Four: Add Bookshelves

An option for using the interior space that may seem unexpected: install shelves in the false fireplace and place books on them! This solution has its advantages - freeing up space, originality and convenience. Perfect option– place a children’s library in the false fireplace so that young readers have access to their favorite fairy tales.

Option five, original: souvenir shelves

As you have already seen, designing a decorative fireplace opens up a lot of possibilities for creativity. Another way out is to place a small “museum” inside the fireplace portal. Here everything is limited only by your imagination and the presence of interesting interior elements. Anything you want can be used – from a collection of antique alarm clocks and figurines, to pictures and crafts.

Option six, festive: Hollywood will tell you!

This option is combined with each of the above. On new year holidays You can easily turn a false fireplace into a festive symbol - free inner space hearth from the contents, fill New Year's toys, garlands and balls, “snow” made of cotton wool, Christmas tree needles, etc. Don't forget to hang red socks so Santa Claus can put gifts in them!

Option seven, realistic: use an electric heater

If you want to not only admire the fireplace, but also feel the warmth emanating from it, install an electric heater inside. Many “antediluvian” models, even from the Soviet era (for example, “Ugolyok 3M”), are equipped with special flickering light bulbs that imitate the light of a fire in the hearth.

In the description of creating a decorative fireplace, which you will read below, we describe just the version with an electric fireplace, but in the same interior item you can equip everything described above.

Of course, there are many more possibilities for decorating a false fireplace. We did not have a goal to describe everything in the article - we wanted to direct your creative energy into the right direction. We hope we succeeded and you will come up with something original.

In the meantime, we will move on to the main message of the article - the process of making a false fireplace with your own hands.

Let's start creating a decorative fireplace with our own hands

To create the same false fireplace that we have, you will need:

  • Sheets or trims MDF sheets
  • Pine board
  • Skirting trims
  • Old picture frames
  • Wallpaper scraps of any color

Stage 1: design

First of all, we need to create a project for a future decorative fireplace - “draw” it on a computer in order to determine all the dimensions from which we will “dance.”

Particular attention should be paid to the quality of processing of the fireplace opening in which you will place slate board, shelves with books or an electric fireplace.

So let's get started. Although MDF is not the most durable and suitable building material, it will fulfill its function in any case, and in terms of cost it is simply unrealistic to find something cheaper.

First of all, the base for the portal is cut out of MDF sheets according to the dimensions already known to us. It is advisable to fasten large parts with bolts or screws, smaller ones are better to be glued together - we are not going into depth here, this stage is quite easy to figure out on your own. After the base is ready, move on to next stage– decorating the fireplace.

Let's make a reservation right away - we found the materials for making the fireplace in the pantry; you can use other elements that suit your taste.

Stage 2: trying on the first decorative details

We used pine boards to make the top panel. To transition from the front wall of the fireplace to the top panel from below under the board, after preliminary fitting, install a cut wooden plinth– the more openwork, the better.

As you can see, we were a little short of the length of the pieces of the picture frame to cover the horizontal surface of the portal. However, there is nothing critical about this - if you have the same situation, don’t worry, later this gap will be covered by a piece of another element, the main thing is that it matches the frame (or whatever you have instead) in style.

Stage 3: selecting decorative details further

Below the line of the top panel, we initially planned the placement of various decorative details, which will create the main design of the fireplace. Anything can be used, just experiment. In our case, these were mosaic parts, old broken frames and just various wooden scraps.

Don’t let it bother you if you can’t imagine the end result – initially, we didn’t imagine exactly what would come out in the end. We advise you to simply use your imagination and simply lay out the elements in various compositions until you see what comes out beautifully.

In the image on the right you can already see final stage decoration: the parts are adjusted to size and put into place, although for now it still doesn’t look very clear to a beginner in this business.

Stage 4: completing the installation of decorative details

After the parts have “found their place,” we glue them onto paper (wood glue) - any textured thick paper or wallpaper with a three-dimensional pattern will do: texture is important to us, but color is not important, because in the end everything will be hidden by paint.

Stage 5: painting

When all the parts are glued, all that remains is to paint the almost finished product. To paint the entire surface, 1 liter of paint was enough for us (painted in 2 layers). And the portal immediately becomes like a real fireplace!

Finishing the lid in our case is a different story. You can keep things simple and paint it the same color as the entire portal; we decided to diversify color scheme– make a cover in a country style.

To achieve the antique effect, we treated the pine board with vinegar plus strong tea leaves using steel wool.

Stage 6: Installation

Well, the final step is installation. finished product in the house. Just bring it into the room and place it near the wall anywhere - voila, your fireplace is ready! If you want to make the structure stationary and more durable, you can tie it to the wall with anchors or liquid nails. But our practice has shown that this is not necessary, especially since a mobile fireplace opens up a lot of opportunities for frequent changes of decor: if you want, you can put a fireplace in the living room, if you want, you can put a fireplace in the nursery or living room.

Be that as it may, now you can give it a “lived-in” look by placing souvenirs on the lid, and in the opening - firewood, candles, books, a heater (as we have done) or whatever you come up with yourself.

As you can see, making a decorative fireplace at home with your own hands is quite simple and does not require any special skills or knowledge. If only you had the desire, the tools and the time, you could do everything just as well as we did. So go ahead, try and create beauty for home comfort on one's own!

And we wish you and your family a comfortable holiday at home in front of a brand new decorative fireplace, made with your own hands!

A fireplace with burning and crackling wood is often found in a movie or book, but very rarely in everyday life, as it is considered a luxury item. Indeed, a real fireplace is not a cheap pleasure, and besides, it is extremely difficult to build one in a city apartment. But there is an alternative option, namely a decorative fireplace. It will cost much less, is easy to use, absolutely safe, and most importantly, it can be made by yourself.

Peculiarities

A false fireplace is a design that imitates a real hearth. Usually it is installed when, for some reason, it is not possible to build a real wood-burning hearth, for example, city apartment(in urban conditions it is difficult to obtain permission to build a fireplace; houses do not have a chimney box) or limited space in the room.

Advantages of a false fireplace:

  • Low cost. You will only have to spend money on purchasing building materials.
  • Availability of materials. You can find them in literally any hardware store.
  • The design of such a fireplace can be changed at your discretion as many times as you like.
  • To decorate a fireplace, you don’t need to purchase expensive materials; you can get by with quite budget-friendly but presentable options.

There are essentially no disadvantages to a false fireplace. In fact, it is a decorative element and sometimes serves to heat the room. It's not difficult to make. Can be developed own project and draw a drawing or use a ready-made diagram. A decorative fireplace is absolutely safe, it can be different sizes and settle down even in the smallest room.

Kinds

The very first thing you need to do when creating an artificial fireplace is to decide on the type of design.

Decorative fireplaces are divided into three groups:

  • Reliable. These fireplaces can completely imitate real ones. They are similar to the real one in size and design. The firebox usually contains a bio-fireplace burner, which very accurately recreates the combustion effect and heats the room. This option is quite expensive, but of all it is the most plausible.
  • Conditional. Bounded by a protruding fireplace portal. The portal is decorated to your liking, and various decorative elements, such as candles or logs, are installed in the firebox.
  • Symbolic. The most different, they are created even from simple stickers with the image of fire or a design, with additional decor. In other words, only the shape of the fireplace is preserved without the recess under the firebox.

There are several types of fire simulation:

  • Imitation. It only conditionally resembles the real one. The role of the flame is played by candles placed inside or paintings depicting flames.
  • Electric. In this case, the simulation is performed by a special electrical appliance, which is framed by a niche. This option is very realistic, since the video illusion of a burning flame is displayed on the screen, and the room is also heated.
  • Biofireplace. The hearth is as close as possible to a real fireplace and, with appropriate design, completely copies it. The fire in it burns due to a special burner, the operation of which is supported by a substance such as bioethanol. The disadvantage of the design is its high cost.

Each type differs in cost and complexity of construction. Of course, the most cheap option- This is an imitation one that you can design with your own hands, without purchasing additional expensive equipment and materials. But they suffer greatly decorative effect and visually they are somewhat cartoonish. Conventional and authentic fireplaces are most often constructed from plasterboard, and candles are placed inside, various lamps, LED strips or electric fireplace.

Style and design

The design of a false fireplace completely depends on the style of the room in which it is placed. For example, for classic style Square fireplaces decorated with stucco or bas-relief are appropriate. Imitation also looks great tile finishing, brick or marble tiles.

Modernism is more suitable for materials with a mirror or reflective surface. In high-tech, a large role is played by the non-standard form of the structure, for example, an acute-angled fireplace trimmed with mirrors. Simple and natural style country, respectively, and the false fireplace should be simple and even somewhat rude. In this case, unnecessary decorative elements are not needed.

Imitating a flame in an artificial hearth can create a homely atmosphere in a room. Today, for this purpose, you can purchase a special electronic device that is capable of visualizing a picture of a burning flame, as well as reproducing characteristic crackling sounds. The easiest way to recreate a fire is to put a sticker on the back wall of the fireplace with decorative pattern burning logs. Also modern technologies allow the use of a so-called electronic photo frame. A “live” image is simply loaded into it.

However, it is not forbidden to approach this task creatively and decorate the fireplace. For example, install an ordinary mirror on the back wall of the fireplace, and place several candles and logs in front of it. However, this option is only suitable for drywall.

One more interesting solution There will be a medium-sized lamp placed inside. But you will need to come up with a way to disguise the wire from the lamp so that you can turn it on or off unnoticed if necessary. The niche is covered with a film, which can be translucent, yellow or orange. By the way, backlighting the film with the last two colors will create the effect of a “warm glow” that usually comes from a real fire. Instead of a lamp, you can install several small light bulbs or a New Year's garland inside, without covering the niche with film.

Very often, next to a real fireplace there is a clock hanging above the hearth or simply standing on a shelf. Therefore, designers offer the same move with a decorative hearth, placing the clock inside the fireplace, for example, in the firebox or niche. Such a decision will definitely attract attention.

The shelves that are installed in the firebox will look non-standard and interesting., while maintaining their functionality. Small souvenirs, candles and other cute things are placed on them. They will not only decorate the room and structure, but also create a pleasant homely atmosphere. Books are placed on the same shelves, especially with bright and colorful covers. A painting or photograph will fit perfectly into the niche. For example, you can hang several small frames around the fireplace, and one large frame in a niche, which will be the central element of the entire composition.

You can’t place live plants close to a real fire, but you can put them next to a fake one. Place fresh flowers in pots near it or inside and miniature plants. Also, a false fireplace can serve as an excellent pedestal for some collection or a kind of bar, and coasters for glasses are placed on the top shelf.

Also popular when decorating decorative plaster. The surface is first puttied, all joints between elements and all irregularities are sealed. Afterwards the putty is cleaned with sandpaper and plastered.

In fact, you can decorate false fireplaces with anything. It all depends on the imagination, interior style and practical skills of the owner or the worker who will design the fireplace.

Necessary tools and components

The second stage in the work will be measuring and purchasing the necessary building materials.

For plasterboard construction you will need:

  • profiles – rack and guide;
  • moisture-resistant plasterboard sheets;
  • elements for fastening (dowels, screws, etc.);
  • finishing material (primer or putty, tile adhesive and grout) depending on the choice of cladding;
  • tools: electric drill, screwdriver, metal scissors, knife, tape measure, level.

For polyurethane construction:

  • fireplace portal made of polyurethane;
  • contact adhesive composition;
  • putty;
  • finishing material.

For wooden structure:

  • plywood sheets;
  • wood sanding machine;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • finishing material.

How to do it yourself?

An artificial fireplace is most often made of plasterboard. This material is inexpensive and can be purchased at any building materials store. You will need screws, self-tapping screws (they must have a countersunk head for fixing the sheets) for metal, dowels, nails and facing material.

Step-by-step instructions for making a decorative fireplace from plasterboard:

  • The basis of the basics is a sketch of the future design. It is important to determine exactly where the fireplace will be located and its approximate parameters. After this, based on the sketch, the exact dimensions and amount of material required are calculated.

It is important to know that the corner fireplace is first assembled and only then installed. If the structure is located near the wall, then the frame can be assembled directly on the wall.

  • Making a frame against the wall. The places where the profiles will be attached are marked on the wall. They will serve as the base for the back fireplace wall. Basically, profiles are secured with dowels, which are designed for dense solid materials.
  • We fasten the guide profile along the marked lines. If the wall is concrete, then the holes for the dowels must be drilled with a drill and then the profiles must be installed.
  • We install the rack profiles in the guides and fix them with self-tapping screws. To increase the safety margin, we connect horizontal and vertical rack profiles with additional stiffeners.

  • Following the drawing, we make a frame, first for the entire structure, and then for the portal with the firebox. In order for the structure to be strong, we make jumpers at intervals of 30 cm. They are needed to take on the main load from objects located above. In other words, they will allow you to place them on the fireplace various element decoration without harm to the structure.
  • If an arch is to be formed in the future, then it is necessary to cut the profile along the side and then give it the appropriate shape.

  • Once the frame is ready, it can be sheathed with plasterboard using 25 mm self-tapping screws. chop it up better with a hacksaw or a jigsaw, but an ordinary knife can cope with this task.
  • We fix the covering fragments with self-tapping screws with a fastening step of 10-15 cm.

  • So, the fireplace is ready and now you can finish it.

You can decorate drywall with literally anything, from ordinary painting to gluing tiles. The choice of cladding method depends entirely on the style in which the structure will be made. In addition, drywall is a universal material, which allows for complete improvisation.

When painting, screw caps must be tightened as much as possible. so that they do not protrude above the surface. The working surface itself is primed, puttied and only after all preparatory work start painting.

When gluing tiles, work and prepare the surface in accordance with the instructions indicated on the packaging adhesive composition. It is important not to forget that grouting can only be done 24 hours after laying the tiles. During this time, the composition should dry and firmly fix the tile.

Production of a false fireplace from a cardboard box:

  • Cardboard is the best choice for creating such a structure. To make it more stable and regular in shape, use a large box from under household appliances.
  • Required Tools: pencil, scissors, stapler and construction tape.
  • As in the previous instructions, we make an initial sketch of the entire structure. Then we transfer the drawing to the box.
  • We cut off all excess and secure the base with a stapler, sealing the joints with tape.
  • Using a sharp utility knife, we cut out the base of the firebox: we cut the top and side walls, then we bend the cardboard inward. You should have a shelf that needs to be secured with tape.

  • We attach the finished frame to the wall with double-sided adhesive tape.
  • Cardboard can be covered with wallpaper with a brick or other pattern or glued self-adhesive film. However, many argue that wallpaper looks more natural.
  • We decorate the upper part with a cardboard shelf or decorative foam.

To make the work go more smoothly and everything to be clearly visible, it is recommended to watch one of the many videos with a master class, which shows and talks about all the working moments and nuances.

Materials

You can choose any material for the fireplace: stone, wood, brick, and so on. However, it is always worth considering the complexity of its processing and installation, especially if the structure will be located in a city apartment, where it may be too bulky. More convenient in this regard is plasterboard, which is easy to work with and is a universal material.

If you have construction skills, the fireplace is made of decorative bricks. This material provides maximum resemblance to a real hearth. However, in a city apartment it should be compact so as not to take up too much space. You also need to know for sure whether the ceiling can withstand the load from finished design, especially if the fireplace is supposed to be large. Sometimes they simply lay out a frame for the fireplace - the so-called fireplace portal.

You can make a wooden fireplace with your own hands. But if you don’t have the skills to handle wood, then it’s better to refuse this option or hire professionals. If there is an old unnecessary chest of drawers in the house, then it can be made the basis for the fireplace, to which the necessary elements are subsequently attached.

Plates having laminated coating(chipboard) and similar materials are ideally suited for assembling a false fireplace. In this case, it is important to accurately outline future design and only then transfer the data to the stove. If everything is done correctly, the design will turn out neat, and most importantly, very attractive. A more budget-friendly analogue of laminated boards is chipboard or MDF.

Typically, polyurethane is used to create decorative elements and decorations. But if you really want to, various moldings, half-columns and platbands can be glued to the wall. However, such a design will still not be perceived as a full-fledged fireplace, but it is perfect for an interesting play on portals.

Most often, drywall is chosen for work. This material is characterized by ease of use and allows you to implement designs of any complexity. With all of it undeniable advantages the material is inexpensive and easily accessible to a wide range of consumers.

Dimensions

The dimensions of the false fireplace depend entirely on the room and are selected individually in each case. If the room is small and you need to save space, then the fireplace can be made small, wall-mounted, or better yet, corner-mounted. In this case, the depth should be approximately 330 cm and the length should be 1.3 m. A small room is considered to be an area of 16 to 20 m2.

For average area– from 20 to 30 m2, more massive structures are suitable, the size of which does not have such strict requirements. It is allowed to install shelves, table tops and floors. The portal can be decorated with artificial or natural stone, forged elements and wood. Approximate parameters: bottom – 1.5 m, top – 1.49 m, depth – 345 cm.

For large rooms– more than 30 m2, you can implement any design idea. If funds allow, the portal can be built from materials such as marble, solid wood and metal. Approximate parameters: width – 2 m, height – 1.285 m, depth – 90 cm. You can easily place a large gas or electric appliance in it.

Colors

Color solution The false fireplace should come from the style in which the room is made and from the overall color scheme. In general, the entire color spectrum can be divided into shades: warm (red, orange, yellow and green), cool (blue, purple, cyan) and neutral (white, gray, black).

If the interior is dominated by white or beige colors, then the fireplace finish can be white, red, sand, black, yellow or pink. Visually bright hues They make the space wider and lighter, so the hearth should either blend harmoniously with everything or have a contrasting bright color. For cold room the same option applies.

For a simple room with a predominance of dark and black colors, a fireplace in white, green, black, yellow, orange and red is most suitable. However, it is worth remembering that dark shades negatively affect emotional condition, so you shouldn’t get carried away with them.

Neutral interior gray color, gray, yellow, green, white, red, blue, beige and brown will perfectly complement the fireplace.

Bright, rich colors combine harmoniously with red, yellow, orange, white, gray and black hearth. Bright colors stimulate brain activity and improve mood. Colors such as milk, chocolate, pistachio, purple and blue are also very attractive.

Successful examples and options

A fireplace installed in the central part of one of the walls of the living room can ensure symmetry of the entire layout. The decorative hearth will become a kind of central point around which pieces of furniture are placed. The area above the portal is decorated with lamps or books, a painting or panel with candlesticks, and a TV or large mirror is mounted.

You can fill the space in the fireplace with all the options presented above. From the firebox you can create bookshelf, pedestal for various minerals, souvenirs and so on. The solution will look impressive: an iron grate with natural logs, which are placed both inside and simply placed next to the hearth.

The fireplace fits perfectly into the design of the bedroom and creates a relaxing atmosphere, which makes it easier to go to bed. The most important thing is that it is absolutely safe, and owners do not have to worry about their health. Modern electric fireplaces are capable of switching off on their own after a certain period of time or simply maintaining the set temperature in the room.

When decorating the fireplace in the bedroom, you should not make it too rough and overly bright. It should be done in calm colors. It is better to make the decor elegant, for example, candles, small souvenirs, fresh flowers and the like. Reflective elements, decorative plaster or tiles are also attractive.

False fireplace is the only and absolutely safe way inclusion of a similar design in the children's interior. In addition, it can be adjusted for children's games, the portal can be covered with a special magnetic film, which is suitable for drawing and attaching magnetic parts. Books, toys and other children's accessories are stored in the firebox. The design of the fireplace is made bright and colorful, which will appeal to little fidgets.
