Execution hl1. Climatic performance

When choosing this or that equipment, in addition to its functions and characteristics, you need to carefully consider the climatic design. Environmental conditions play a role important role, the reliability and service life of the equipment will depend on the correct choice of climate control. In Russia, this aspect is regulated by GOST 15150 “Executions for various climatic regions. Categories, operating conditions, storage and transportation in terms of exposure climatic factors external environment".

Decoding alphabetic and numeric values

When saying “climatic design of equipment” usually means its installation category. Below are explanations of alphanumeric abbreviations.

Examples of decoding climate control

When you need to understand what climate the equipment is intended for:

UHL4- For moderate and cold climates, installation category 4;
TV1- For humid tropical climates, installation category 1.

When you need to clarify the required climatic design of equipment according to operating conditions:

It is assumed that the equipment will be operated at an altitude of up to 1000 m, indoors with artificial ventilation. The temperature in the room is maintained around the clock +18 o C ÷ +23 o C and humidity 55% ÷ 65% at 20 o C - equipment of all climatic versions is suitable for these criteria, but the most optimal are UHL4.1 and TV4.1;
It is assumed that the equipment will be operated at an altitude of up to 1000 m under a canopy. The annual temperature difference is -32 o C ÷ +44 o C with the lowest temperature -46 o C and the highest +45 o C (recurrence approximately once every 50 years). Highest value humidity - 90% at 25 o C. - versions U1, HL1, UHL1 are suitable for climatic conditions.

Normal values of climatic factors during operation and requirements for products

Normal values climatic factors listed below apply to the operation of products at altitudes up to 1000 m above sea level. For products operated at altitudes above 1000 m (including both above 1000 m and up to 1000 m), other values of climatic factors can be set (except for pressure and lower temperature). In this case, the upper and average temperature values for the operation of products at altitudes from 1000 m to 4300 m can be calculated by decreasing those indicated in Table 4 by 0.6 o C every 100 m.

If there is a special technical justification, confirmed by measurements of the values of climatic factors, their nominal values can be set different from those indicated below.

Ambient temperature

The ambient temperature values are given below in Table 4. For products of category 1, if their surface is heated by the sun, the upper, average and maximum operating temperature values must be taken higher than those indicated in table 4:

  • For surfaces that are white or silver-white - by 15 o C;
  • For surfaces of a different color - by 30 o C.

Requirements for ambient temperature apply to products of all designs and categories. Requirements for maximum operating air temperature values are established only for products with a high probability of failure-free operation, if this is specified in technical specifications on products (the probability of occurrence of temperature limits is 0.00001).

Solar radiation

GOST 15150 sets the upper working value of the integral surface density solar radiation energy flux for altitudes up to and above 15 km. Actually, for altitudes up to 15 km inclusive, its value is 1125 W/m2, including the flux density of the ultraviolet part of the spectrum (280 ÷ 400 nm) - 68 W/m2. At altitudes above 15 km, the upper working value of the integral surface flux density of solar radiation energy is 1380 W/m2, including the flux density of the ultraviolet part of the spectrum (200 ÷ 400 nm) - 140 W/m2.

Requirements for exposure to solar radiation are imposed only on products of category 1. At the same time, requirements are imposed on products of category 1.1 if this is specified in the technical specifications. Requirements may not apply to the product as a whole, but only to those components and parts that, under operating conditions, are directly exposed to the sun.

Ozone concentration

The requirement for ozone exposure applies to products of categories 1 and 2, for which this is specified in the technical specifications. The upper operating value of ozone concentration in the surface (near surface) air layer is:

Other requirements

If products are intended for use in special environmental conditions (for example, an atmosphere of aggressive gases from chemical industries or inert gases, a liquid environment, radiation, saturation with atmospheric electricity), additional parameters of this environment must be taken into account.

Normal values of climatic factors during testing

For testing products, GOST 15150 establishes a narrower range of environmental climatic factors (normal climatic test conditions):

  • Temperature +25 ± 10 o C;
  • Relative air humidity 45 ÷ 80%;
  • Atmospheric pressure 84.0 ÷ 106.7 kPa (630 ÷ 800 mm Hg).

Note: At temperatures above 30 o C, the relative humidity should not be higher than 70%. It is allowed to set the value to 75% instead of the upper value of the range of 80%.

If other limits are adopted in the standards for individual product groups, then the values listed above are no longer valid.

If it is impossible to ensure normal climatic test conditions, it is allowed to carry out tests in climatic conditions UHL4 or O4 with recalculation to normal climatic test conditions. The recalculation method must be established in the regulatory and technical documentation for the product and/or test program.

In particular, it should be used when drawing up technical specifications for the development or modernization of products, as well as when developing state standards and technical conditions establishing requirements regarding the impact of environmental climatic factors for a group of products, and in the absence of these group documents - for individual types of products. All products must be manufactured in accordance with climatic modifications in accordance with GOST 15150-69
  2. Products must maintain their parameters within the limits established by technical specifications, standards or technical conditions during the service life and shelf life specified in the technical specifications, standards or technical conditions, after and (or) during exposure to climatic factors, the values of which are established hereby standard i.e. must comply with climatic modifications in accordance with GOST 15150-69.
  3. Products are intended for operation, storage and transportation in the range from the upper to the lower values of these climatic modifications, while in addition to the ranges of climatic factors within which the operation of the products is ensured during operation, one or more narrower ranges of climatic factors can be established, within which provide a narrower range of parameter deviations (for example, higher control or measurement accuracy), i.e. climatic design must correspond to the category according to GOST 15150-69.
  4. For specific types or groups of products, the types of influencing climatic factors influencing the climatic design according to GOST and their nominal values are established depending on the operating conditions of the products in the relevant technical specifications, standards and technical conditions. If there are documents that establish for groups of products a connection between the values of factors with the specified climatic modifications in accordance with GOST 15150-69, you should be guided by the instructions of these documents
  5. It is allowed to operate products in macroclimatic areas other than those for which the products are intended, if climatic factors during operation do not exceed the limits of the nominal values established for these products. For example, products of the UHL4 climatic version can be operated in UHL2 conditions during the dry summer period.
  6. It is allowed to operate products in conditions where the values of climatic factors go beyond the established nominal values, if deviations in service life are acceptable. In this case, the permissibility of operation, the values of climatic factors for designs, and permissible deviations in service life are agreed upon with the product supplier.
  7. In accordance with economic and technical feasibility, it is recommended to manufacture products suitable for use in several regions established by this standard, that is, the climatic category according to GOST 15150-69 should cover several climatic regions.
  8. Products can also be designed for use in several macroclimatic regions; in these cases combinations various conditions operation or storage with periods of stay in these conditions are established in standards or technical specifications for products, climatic versions(climate performance category) must be indicated in the accompanying documents for the product.
  9. The macroclimatic region with a temperate climate UHL (climate category UHL) includes areas where the average annual absolute maximum air temperature is equal to or below plus 40°C, and the average annual absolute minimum air temperature is equal to or above minus 45°C.

M Maritime moderately cold climate
MO General climate marine version
IN All-climate design. For macroclimatic regions on land and at sea, except for areas with a very cold climate (chloride concentration - 0.3–300 mg/m² day, sulfur dioxide concentration - no more than 250 mg/m² day). Operating temperature range during operation
–60...+50 °С

Temperate and cold climates (MCC) impose special requirements on the material of products due to low operating temperatures. Therefore, the main requirement for products intended for use in areas with UHL1 is that they must be made from materials that retain their properties at temperatures down to –70 ˚С.

It must be understood that products, for example, intended for use in areas with a temperate climate of location category 1, can also be used in areas with a temperate climate of location categories 2, 3 or 4, but not vice versa.
Similarly: products marked UT1.5 can replace products marked U1, U2, UZ, T1.T2.TZ.

Types of climatic modification of machines, instruments and other technical products on the territory Russian Federation defined in GOST 15150-69 “Climatic design of instruments and machines”.

The climatic design is usually indicated in the last group of symbols for designating technical devices.

The letter part indicates the climate zone:

for products intended for use on land, rivers, lakes

U - temperate climate;

UHL * - temperate and cold climate;

T - tropical climate;

O - general climate design (except for areas with a very cold climate);

for products intended for use in areas with a maritime climate

M - moderately cold maritime climate;

TM - tropical maritime climate

OM - moderately cold and tropical marine climate (general climatic marine);

B - all-climate design (except for areas with a very cold climate).

* If the main purpose of the products is operation in an area with a cold climate and it is not economically feasible to use them outside this area, the use of KHL is recommended instead of the UHL designation.

The numeric part following the letter indicates the placement category:

1 - outdoors;

2 - under a canopy or indoors, where the conditions are the same as outdoors and there is relatively free access to outside air, with the exception of solar radiation and precipitation;

3 - indoors with natural ventilation without artificial regulation of climatic conditions;

4 - indoors with artificial regulation of climatic conditions (ventilation, heating);

5 - in rooms with high humidity, without artificial regulation of climatic conditions.

Products of the types of climatic modifications indicated in the first line of the table are not manufactured. 1, since these products meet the requirements for products of the types of climatic modifications given respectively in the second line of Table 1

The permissible operating temperatures for the main climatic versions are presented in table. 2

Operating values of climatic factors- naturally changing or constant values of climatic factors, within which the required nominal parameters and economically feasible lifespan of products are maintained.

Limit operating values of environmental climatic factors during operation – the values of climatic factors within which the products may (extremely rarely and for no more than 6 hours, and for the lower temperature value – 12 hours) be exposed during operation and must:

a) remain operational, but may not maintain the required accuracy and nominal parameters (in this case, the standard or technical specifications for products must indicate permissible deviations in terms of accuracy and nominal parameters, if these deviations occur);

b) after the termination of these limiting operating values, restore the required accuracy and nominal parameters.
