Spiral steam. Roller screw pairs (gears)

Ball screw- a kind of linear drive that transforms rotational motion into translational, which has distinctive feature- extremely low friction.

A shaft (usually steel - made of high-carbon steels) with a specific shape of treadmills on the surface acts as a high-precision drive screw interacting with the nut, but not directly, through sliding friction, as in conventional screw-nut gears, but through balls, through rolling friction . This is the reason for the high overload characteristics of the ball screw and the very high efficiency. The screw and nut are produced in pairs, matched to very tight tolerances, and can be used in equipment where very high precision is required. The ball nut is usually slightly larger than the sleeve nut due to the ball recirculation channels located in it. However, this is practically the only point in which the ball screw is inferior to helical gears of sliding friction.

Scope of application of ball screws

Ball screws are often used in aircraft and rocketry to move steering surfaces, and in automobiles to drive a steering rack from an electric steering motor. The widest range of ball screw applications exists in precision engineering such as CNC machines, robots, assembly lines, component installers, as well as in mechanical presses, injection molding machines, etc.

Ball screw history

Historically, the first precision ball screw was produced from a fairly low-precision conventional screw, on which a structure of several nuts was installed, tensioned by a spring, and then lapped along the entire length of the screw. By redistributing the nuts and changing the direction of the tightness, the pitch errors of the screw and nut could be averaged out. Then, the resulting pair step, determined with high repeatability, was measured and recorded as a passport. A similar process is now periodically used for the production of .

Ball screw application

In order for the ball pair to serve its entire estimated period with the preservation of all, incl. accuracy, parameters, it is necessary to pay great attention to the cleanliness and protection of the working space, to avoid getting dust, chips and other abrasive particles on the steam. This is usually solved by installing steam, polymer, rubber or leather bellows, which prevents foreign particles from entering the work area. Another method is to use a compressor to supply pressurized filtered air to a screw mounted open. Ball Screws, through the use of rolling friction, can have a certain amount of preload that removes the gear play - a certain "gap" between rotational and translational motion that occurs when changing direction of rotation. Eliminating backlash is especially important in CNC systems, which is why preloaded ball screws are used especially often in CNC machines.

Disadvantages of Ball Screws

Depending on the elevation angle of the treadmills, ball screws can be subject to reverse gearing - low friction causes the nut not to lock up, but to transfer a linear force into torque. Ball screws are generally undesirable for manual feeds. The high cost of ballscrews is also a factor that often inclines the choice of machine builders in favor of more budget gears.

Benefits of Ball Screws

The low coefficient of friction of the ball screw leads to low dissipation and high transmission efficiency - much higher than that of any other analogues. The efficiency of the most common ball drives can exceed 90% compared to the maximum 50% for metric and trapezoidal leadscrews. The virtually non-slip significantly increases the service life of the ball screw, which reduces equipment downtime for repair, replacement and lubrication of parts. All this, combined with some other advantages, such as higher speeds achievable, reduced power requirements for the electric drive of the screw, can be a significant argument in favor of the ball screw, as opposed to its high cost.

Production of ball screws

The most precise ball screws can only be produced by grinding. The screw can also be obtained by knurling - such a screw will differ in much lower cost, but its accuracy will be limited by an error of the order of 50 microns per 300 mm of travel.

Ball screw accuracy

High-precision screws usually give an error of the order of 1-3 microns per 300 mm of travel, and even more accurate. Blanks for such screws are obtained by rough machining, then the blanks are hardened and ground to a standard. Three steps are strictly required, because heat treatment greatly changes the surface of the ball screw.

Hard-whirling is comparative new technology metalworking, which minimizes the heating of the workpiece in the process, and can produce accurate screws from the hardened workpiece. Ball screw tool screws typically achieve an accuracy of 250 nm per centimeter. They are made by milling and grinding on ultra-precise equipment with control by specialized equipment of submicron accuracy. Lines for the production of lenses and mirrors are equipped with similar equipment. These screws are usually made from Invar or other Invar alloys to minimize the error introduced by the thermal expansion of the screw.

Ball recycling systems

Bearing balls circulate in the thread channels of the nut and screw raceways. If the ball was not guided after the end of its journey, the balls would simply fall out of the nut after reaching the end of the track, therefore several systems for returning the balls to the beginning are more expensive - recirculation systems.

The external system uses a metal tube that connects the inlet and outlet of the nut channel. The outgoing balls fall into the tube, and pushed by the subsequent ones, follow to the entrance. The internal system involves cutting a similar channel inside the nut, the balls coming out of the nut are guided by a special pad into the drilled channel, at the exit from the channel a similar pad forwards the balls to the inlet of the treadmill. The option is also very common when the balls circulate through several looped channels, where the return is provided by a special plug.

Introduction: Don't Use This Guide

Finding capsules is easy and fun. Do not use this guide in the interests of obtaining the necessary blueprints as quickly as possible. So you risk quickly losing interest in the exploration part of the game and depriving yourself of the lion's share of the pleasure of achievements that you could get on your own, but turned out to be too weak and now spend your days waiting for new updates and latent self-hatred.

This guide has been created for those who have spent years of their lives in fruitless searches and have almost lost their minds, when they suddenly found here, in this guide, a tiny hope of finding peace.

Many may need a little hint instead of a detailed guide, and I'm ready to give it. The table below shows the number of capsules at each location. Under the spoilers, you are free to see only those answers that you are interested in, without having to look at ready-made solutions:

About capsules and crackers

Treasure Capsule(Treasure Pod) - Scattered throughout Far, Far Away are small globular vaults containing blueprints for the Fabricator. Many of the blueprints from the capsules are somehow related to the zone in which they were found.

At the moment, there are only 3 types of capsules easily distinguishable by the color of the body:

Green capsules.

As a rule, they are located in the most prominent places.
Opened with: Treasure Cracker, which becomes available some time after the acquisition of the Laboratory.

Blue capsules.

They require little effort to find.
Opened with: Treasure Cracker MkII, which becomes available after building a certain number of devices (at least 35 pieces).

Purple capsules.

Often located in the most inaccessible and possibly dangerous places.
Opened with: Treasure Cracker MkIII, which becomes available after building a certain number of devices (at least 100 pieces).

Attention: 100% it will seem to you that you have already built all possible devices and waited enough, but the new cracker will still not appear. Play not for capsules, get more resources with extractors (count as devices) and the wait will pass unnoticed.

A screw pair consists of two parts (a screw and a nut) connected along a helical surface. A screw pair is used to convert rotational motion into translational, or vice versa.

Screw pairs come with a triangular, rectangular and round profile of the helical surface.

In engineering, a helical surface is often referred to as a thread. Threads with a triangular profile are divided into metric, inch, trapezoidal and thrust.

The main geometric parameters of the metric thread according to GOST 9150–81 (Fig. 5.3):

H– height of the initial profile (equilateral triangle);

d, d 2 , d 1 - outer, middle and inner diameters;

Rice. 5.5. Screw pairs with rectangular and triangular threads:

c - screw, d - nut, R and d 2 - pitch and average thread diameter

step R- the distance between the nearest similar points of the contour along a line parallel to the axis of the thread;

profile angle  = 60;

helix angle of thread  (Fig. 5.4).

Rice. 5.6. Screw pair:

v t and v a– circumferential and axial speeds of the nut; d d - outer diameter of the nut;  - helix angle

gear ratio i screw pair is equal to the ratio of the circumferential v t and axial v a nut (screw) speeds (Fig. 5.6).

Friction in a screw pair

Consider a screw pair with a rectangular thread profile (Fig. 5.7). We assume that the axial load F a on the screw is concentrated on one turn and that the reaction of the nut is applied along the centerline of the thread, i.e. along d 2 .

Rice. 5.7. On the determination of friction forces in a screw pair with a rectangular thread profile

The movement of the nut along the screw can be considered as the movement of a slider along an inclined plane with an inclination angle  (Fig. 5.8).

With uniform motion of the slider, the following equilibrium equation is valid:

where F t = M/r 2 - horizontal force acting on the slider (nut), M is the torque of a pair of forces applied to the nut at a distance r 2 from the axis of the screw in a plane perpendicular to the axis (in the horizontal plane).

From the plan of forces (Fig. 5.9) it can be seen that the driving force F t, necessary for the uniform movement of the slider up the inclined plane, is related to the magnitude of the axial force F a ratio

F t = F a tg ( + ),

and the torque M couples attached to the nut will

M = F t r 2 = F a tg ( + ) r 2 .

From the Coulomb–Amonton law it follows

F t = f N = N tg.

From the plan of forces, we determine the friction force acting in the screw pair:

Dividing the numerator and denominator of this expression by cos  and given that f= tg , we get

In a screw pair with a triangular thread, the normal force N > F a(Fig. 5.10), so the friction force F t more than in the screw pair discussed above with a rectangular thread profile. Respectively

Rice. 5.10. Relations between normal axial forces in screw pairs with triangular and rectangular thread profiles

friction angle  and coefficient of friction f at there will be more screws with a triangular thread than in a screw pair with a rectangular thread profile.

In a screw pair with a triangular thread, the coefficient and angle of friction will be

and
.

Obtained for a screw pair with a triangular thread profile coefficient f and the angle  of friction are called the reduced coefficient and angle of friction.

2.3 Thread pitch
The choice of screw pitch depends on the following formula:

where:
Ph = screw pitch [mm]
Vmax = maximum travel speed of the system [m/min]
n max = maximum propeller rotation [min 1]

In the event that the result of the equation is not an integer result, the rounded up value should be chosen by choosing between the available steps.

Taking into account the possible variability of axial loads, caused, for example, by the presence of inertial forces, the load value indicated as “average dynamic load Pm” should be calculated, which determines the same variable load factors.

2.4.1 Average dynamic load
To calculate a ball screw subject to variable operating conditions, the average values of Pm and n m are used:

P m = average dynamic axial load [N]
n m = average speed [min -1 ]

Under continuous load and variable speed conditions, the following values can be achieved:

Under conditions of variable load and continuous speed, the following values can be achieved:

Under variable load and variable speed conditions, the following values can be achieved:

The choice of propeller depending on the acting and (or) demanded thrust forces is determined by the following values:

  • Static load capacity Coa
  • Dynamic load capacity Ca

The static load capacity Coa (or load capacity factor) is defined as a load of constant intensity acting on the axis of the propeller which, at the point of maximum force between the parts in contact, sets a permanent deformation equal to 1/10000 of the diameter of the rolling element.

Coa values are given in the size charts.

2.5.1 Static safety factor a s The static safety factor a s (or static safety factor) is given by the following equation:

2.5.2 Hardness factor f H
The hardness factor takes into account the surface hardness of the raceways:

where:
track hardness HsV10 = actual track hardness expressed in Vickers units with a test load of 98.07 N

700HV10 = hardness equal to 700 Vickers with test load equal to 98.07 (700HV10 ≈ 60 HRC)

2.5.3 Accuracy factor f ac
The accuracy factor takes into account the processing tolerances of the screw, and hence the accuracy class corresponding to the standard.
The table shows some examples.

The need for a static safety factor a s > 1 is due to the possible presence of shocks and (or) vibrations, starting and stopping torques, random loads that can lead to system failure.
The table below shows the values of the static safety factor according to the type of application.

Load dynamic capacity Ca (or dynamic load factor) is a constant intense dynamic load acting on the screw axis, which determines the service life of 10 6 revolutions.

C a values are given in the dimensional tables.

2.7 Rated life L

The rated life L (this is the theoretical run completed by at least 90% of an exponential number of identical ball screws (with ball circulation) subjected to the same load conditions without showing signs of material fatigue) is determined by the following conditions:

  • Nut without preload
  • Nut with preload

2.7.1 Nut without preload
For ball screws (circulating balls) with a nut without preload, the calculation of the nominal life, expressed in turns, is given by the following formula:

where:

P m = average dynamic axial load involved [N]

  • Screw accuracy class 1 to 5
  • Reliability up to 90%

where:
a 1 = safety factor

2.7.2 Coefficient a 1
Coefficient a 1 takes into account the possibility of non-deflection C%.

Table - Coefficient of the possibility of non-deflection a 1
C% 80 85 90 92 95 96 97 98 99
a 1 1.96 1.48 1.00 0.81 0.62 0.53 0.44 0.33 0.21

It should be noted that for С% = 90 a 1 = 1.00

2.7.3 Nut with preload
The validity of the following formulas is due to maintaining a constant preload; otherwise, the case with a nut without preload must be taken into account.
For ball screws (circulating balls) with a preloaded nut, the calculation of the nominal life, expressed in turns, is given by the following formula:

where:
L 10 = rated life [revs]
L 10 b - (C a / Pm 2) x 10 6

L 10a and L1 0b nominal life for two nut halves.

    This equation is valid in the following cases:
  • Raceway hardness = 60HRC
  • Screw accuracy class from 1 to 5;
  • Reliability up to 90%.

If the operating conditions do not correspond to the above conditions, the following formula should be used:

where:
L 10 = rated life [revs]
L 10 a \u003d (C a / P m1) 3 X 10 6
L 10 b - (C a / Pm 2) x 10 6

a 1 = safety factor;
f ho = hardness factor (see static safety factor a s)
f ac = accuracy factor (see static safety factor a s)

P m1 and P m2 - average axial dynamic loads for two nut halves;

P r = preload force [N]

2.7.4 Rated life in hours Lh

With L 10 (nominal life expressed in revolutions), you can calculate the nominal life in hours of operation L h ;

where:
L m = operating time [hours]
n m = average rotation speed [min -1 ]

m i = speed [MIN -1 ]
qi = percentage distribution [%]

2.7.5 Rated service life in km Lkm

With L 10 (nominal life expressed in revolutions) one can calculate the nominal life of the distance traveled in km L km .

where:
L km = nominal life [km]
P h = screw pitch [mm]

The following table provides guidelines for typical ball screw life for general purpose applications.

2.8 Mounting method
Generally, there are the following types of ball screw mounting:

The mounting method used is a function of the application conditions, providing rigidity and the required accuracy.

2.9 Critical rotation speed

The maximum rotation speed of the ball screw must not exceed 80% of the critical speed.
The critical rotational speed is the point at which the screw begins to vibrate, producing a resonant effect caused by the frequency of the vibration matching the natural frequency of the screw.

The value of the critical speed depends on the internal diameter of the lead screw, the method of fastening the edges and the length of the free deflection.
Critical speed is measured by the following formula:

where:
n cr = critical speed [min -1 ]
f kn = fastening factor
d 2 = inner diameter of the spindle [mm]
l n = free deflection length [mm]

Depending on the type of fastening, f kn values are supplied:

where:
do = nominal diameter [m m]
da = ball diameter [mm]
a = contact angle (= 45)

The length of the free deflection value l n is determined depending on:

-Nuts without preload

l n = Distance between fasteners [mm]

-Nut with preload

l n = maximum distance between nut half and fastening [mm] (in the case of fixed-loose fastening, the maximum distance between nut half and the free edge of the screw must be taken into account)

n max = maximum propeller speed [rpm]

The critical load is the maximum axial load that a screw can be subjected to without compromising the stability of the system; In the event that the maximum axial load acting on the propeller reaches or exceeds the critical load value, a new form of stress is created on the propeller, called “peak load”, causing additional deflection in addition to simple compression.

This phenomenon, associated with the elastic properties of the component, becomes more sensitive when a large length of the free deflection of the screw will have noteworthy values in relation to its section. The value of the critical load is determined by the following formula:

where:
P cr = Critical load [N]
f kp = fastening factor
d 2 = inside diameter of the screw shaft [mm] (see critical speed)
l cr = free deflection length [mm]

Depending on the type of attachment, fkp values are supplied:

One-Piece - One-Piece f kr = 40.6
One-Piece - Support f kp = 20.4
Reference - Reference f kp = 10.2
One-Piece - Loose f kp = 2.6

For the calculation of the critical load, the value la is determined by the maximum distance between the nut half and the fastener.

For greater safety, the maximum allowable axial load should be considered as equal to half the critical load:

P max = maximum permissible axial load [N]

2.11 Rigidity

The axial stiffness of a movement system equipped with a ball screw is determined by the following formula:

where:
K = axial stiffness of the system
P = axle load [N]
e = axial deformation of the system [µm]

The axial stiffness of a system K is a function of the axial stiffness of the individual components that make it up: lead screw, nut, supports, connecting support elements and nut.

where:
K s = axial stiffness of the lead screw
K N = axial stiffness of the nut
K in = axial stiffness of supports
K n \u003d axial rigidity of the connecting support elements and nuts

2.11.1 Ks- Axial stiffness of the lead screw

The stiffness value Ks is a function of the fastening system.

Mounting Method: One-Piece - One-Piece

where:
d 2 = inner diameter (see critical rotational speed)
l s = distance between the middle axis of the two fasteners

Mounting method: One-piece - Support

where:
d 2 = inside diameter [mm] (see critical speed)
l s = maximum distance between the middle fixing axes and the nut [mm].

2.11.2 K N - Axial stiffness of the nut

Double nut with preload

where:
K = table stiffness
F pr = preload force [N]

Single nut without preload

The value of K N is determined by the following formula:

where:
P = axle load [N]
C a = dynamic load capacity [N]

2.11.3 Kv - Axial stiffness of supports

The axial rigidity of the propeller supports is due to the rigidity of the bearings.
For rigid angular contact deep groove ball bearings, the following formulas apply:

where:
bv = axial deformation of the bearing
Q = load per ball [N]
β = contact angle (45°)
d = ball diameter [mm]
N = number of balls

The rigidity of the connecting support elements and nuts is a characteristic of the machine, and therefore does not depend on the system of the screw, nut, supports.

2.12 Operating temperature

In the case of a one-piece-one-piece fastening, the possible thermal expansion caused by the increase in propeller temperature during operation must be taken into account; such expansion, if appropriately provided, places an additional axial load on the system, which can lead to a malfunction of the system. To solve problem, the screw must be preloaded sufficiently.

where:
AL = change in length [mm] a = coefficient of thermal expansion
(11.7 x 10 -6 [°C -1])
L = screw length [mm]
AT = temperature change [°C]

2.13 Lubrication

For the lubrication of NBS ball screws, the following instructions must be observed.

2.13.1 Oil lubrication

Should be preferred given type lubrication in case of operation at high speeds. The lubricants that can be used have the same characteristics as those used for lubricating rolling bearings (VG 68 to VG 460). Viscosity selection is a function of performance and operating environment: temperature, rotation speed, operating loads; only for propellers with low rotation is recommended to use high classes viscosity (about VG 400).
In this case, there is no need to pay much attention to maintenance, except for the constant provision of lubricating oil in the system (intervals for re-lubrication are shorter than in units using grease lubrication).
In any case, the oil manufacturer's instructions must be followed.

2.13.2 Grease

Grease lubrication is intended for low speeds.
When choosing a grease, the regulations applicable to the lubrication of rolling bearings must be taken into account; therefore, it is recommended to use a lithium soap based grease rather than greases with solid additives (such as MoS2 or graphite greases), except at very low rotational speeds; however, it is recommended to follow the grease manufacturer's instructions.

3. Torque and rated power

For an approximate calculation of the motor torque and power values for converting rotary motion into rectilinear motion, you need to use these formulas:

where:

Pmax = maximum effective load [N]
Ph = thread pitch [mm]
ɳ v = mechanical efficiency screws (approx. 0.9)
ɳ t = mechanical efficiency of engine-propeller transmission
(gear transmission ɳ t = 0.95+0.98);
z= gear ratio engine - propeller

In the case of direct connection of the engine - propeller, z=1 and ɳ 2 =1.

where:
Nm = rated motor power [kW]
Mm = rated torque [Nm]
Pmax = maximum propeller rotation mode [min]
z = gear ratio motor - screw (Pmax X Z = P motor)

In the case of converting rectilinear motion into rotational motion, there is:

M r = load moment [Nm]
P max = maximum effective load [N]
P h = thread pitch [mm]
ɳ r = mechanical efficiency (approx. 0.8

Wear-resistant screw (screw) pairs of screw gerotor pumps.

Gerotor or single screw pumps are positive displacement pumps, their principle of operation is based on the movement of the product by a rotating rotor along the internal spiral of a two-way fixed stator. In this case, pressure surges are not created, and the structure of the transported product is not subjected to mechanical stress. Foam concrete does not exfoliate. Screw pumps are used in many industries. The pumping working body of the pump is a screw gyratory or screw pair. The screw pair consists of a single-threaded rotor rotating inside a fixed elastic two-threaded stator (cage). Geometric parameters screw pair, such as the length and diameter of the rotor and stator, helical pitch, number of pitches, axial eccentricity, etc. determine the volume of the resulting working cavity between the rotor and the stator and the number of such cavities. The ability of the screw pair to develop a certain product pressure at the outlet, pump a strictly defined amount of product per revolution of the screw (rotor) and pump solutions with a certain size of the solid fraction (2-16 mm) depends on the design characteristics. At the inlet of the screw pair, a vacuum is created, so the pumps are self-priming. The screw pairs of the gerotor pump are capable of pumping various abrasive solutions, thick and gas-containing liquids and are a wearable consumable part of the pump unit. When pumping abrasive plaster and concrete solutions, the working surfaces of the rotor and stator are subjected to intense abrasive wear, so the rotor is made of wear-resistant hard alloy, and the stator is made of wear-resistant elastic material.

Scope of screw gerotor pumps:
