FUEL REQUIREMENTS

Cars with petrol engines

Unleaded gasoline

For European countries

For optimum vehicle performance, unleaded gasoline with a research octane rating of 95 (RON) and an antiknock rating of 91 (AKI) or higher is recommended.

Unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of RON 91~94 /, antiknock rating AKI of 87~90 can be used, but there may be a slight deterioration in vehicle performance.

Outside Europe

Your new vehicle is designed to use only unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of RON 91 / anti-knock rating AKI of 87 or higher.

The vehicle is designed to achieve maximum performance when using UNLEADED FUEL. In addition, the use of such fuel will minimize the toxicity of emissions and pollution of spark plugs.

ATTENTION

NEVER USE LEADED FUEL! The use of leaded fuel will shorten the life of the catalytic converter and cause damage to the oxygen sensor of the engine management system, which will adversely affect the performance of the emission control system.

Never add fuel system cleaners to the fuel, except those approved for use.

CAREFULLY

When refueling the vehicle, do not add fuel to the upper edge of the filler neck after the automatic shutdown of the dispenser.

Always make sure the fuel filler cap is tightly closed. This will help prevent spillage of fuel if traffic accident.

The manufacturer's warranty does not cover deterioration in driving performance or damage to the vehicle caused by the use of the following fuels:

1. Gasoline with an ethyl alcohol content of more than 10%.

2. Gasoline containing methyl alcohol.

ATTENTION

Never use gasohol containing methanol. Stop using any type of gasohol if it results in poor driving performance of the vehicle.

Use of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)

The use of fuels containing more than 15.0% methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by volume (with more than 2.7% oxygen mass fraction) may result in poor vehicle performance, vapor lock and difficult starting.

ATTENTION

The manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover damage to the fuel system or degraded vehicle performance caused by the use of fuel with a volume fraction of methanol or methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) greater than 15.0 % (when the mass fraction of oxygen is more than 2.7%).

Do not use methyl alcohol

Do not use fuel with any methanol (wood alcohol) content to refuel this vehicle. Use of such fuels may result in poor vehicle performance and damage to fuel system components.

If high-quality gasoline is not commercially available, the engine is difficult to start, or the engine runs rough, fuel additives should be used regularly. A bottle of fuel tank additive should be added every 5,000 km (recommendation does not apply to European countries). Additives are available from an authorized Kia dealer; there you can get instructions on how to use additives. Do not mix additives of different brands.

When driving your car to another country, you should:

Fulfill all registration and insurance requirements.

RUN-IN PROCEDURE

There are no special requirements for the break-in period of a new car. Taking a few simple precautions during the first 1000 km (600 miles) of driving can improve the performance, fuel economy and life of your vehicle.

Do not run the engine at high speeds.

While driving, keep the engine speed (rpm, or revolutions per minute) between 2000 and 4000 rpm.

Do not allow the engine to run at constant speed (both high and low) for a long time. Changing the engine speed is necessary for proper engine break-in.

Avoid sudden braking (except in emergencies) to ensure proper burn-in of brake components.

Do not tow a trailer for the first 2000 km (1200 miles) of driving.
