At its congress in 1999 on June 10, it was decided to start celebrating this date as the Day of Veterans of the Customs Service. The initiative, which led to a positive result, came from below, expressed in numerous wishes that came all the time from public organizations, former employees of the customs authorities.

Customs Veterans Day is tied to May 29th for a reason. In 1918, on May 29, the decree of the Council of People's Commissars came into force, which determines the procedure for the actions of customs institutions. In Soviet times, all the customs officers of the country gathered on this very day for celebration, right up to the dissolution of the USSR. Is it any wonder that in modern times the customs officers have chosen the same day as a professional holiday.

Traditions

Although this holiday is dedicated to customs veterans, that is, mainly to pensioners, almost all people who have at least some relation to customs take part in its celebration. Despite the fact that the celebration does not have an official character, in reality, in all customs offices and even in the central office, the working day on May 29 is greatly reduced.
