In this article, we will look together at the beaches of the Sunny Beach resort and the southern Black Sea coast - the Burgas region.

General description of Bulgarian beaches

All city beaches in Bulgaria have lifeguards and umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent. Information about air and water temperatures is posted at the rescue towers every day. Also, a flag of a certain color is hung on the lifeguard towers - green (swimming is allowed), yellow (swimming is allowed) and red (large waves, swimming on mattresses and far from the shore is prohibited, entry into the water is allowed in certain places). The beaches in Bulgaria are very clean and are regularly cleaned and free of algae. The beaches here are much cleaner than in Spain or Montenegro.

For the most part, the beaches of Sunny Beach and southern Bulgaria are sandy, with a gentle and very comfortable entry into the water along soft sand. We saw entry into the water over rocks only, perhaps, on a wild beach near the resort of St. Vlas. The water in the Black Sea is unsalted, although in the summer of 2017 it became more salty due to microorganisms that arrived here. Which, by the way, painted the Black Sea an amazing turquoise color for these places.

City beaches offer a lot of entertainment: banana and bun rides, windsurfing, wakeboarding, catamaran riding and water skiing. Unlike Asia, rental points are located in strictly designated areas. In practice, this means that people swimming will not be disturbed by jet skis and other equipment. The sea in Bulgaria warms up well after the second half of June - up to +23 +24. At the end of May and beginning of June, the sea is still invigorating and cold with a water temperature of about +21. Smoking on the beaches is not prohibited, as is drinking alcohol. The cost of renting an umbrella or sun lounger on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria is 5-6 leva (2.5-3 Euro) for the whole day. That is, for two sun loungers and an umbrella you will pay 15-18 leva (7.5-9 Euros) for 1 day. In addition to city beaches, Bulgaria also has wild beaches. However, there is no infrastructure on such beaches, and nudists often relax on them.

Unlike Italian resorts, in Bulgaria you can sunbathe around areas with umbrellas and sun loungers, and no one will kick you out of here. All beaches have bars where you can buy beer, soft drinks, ice cream, and a small snack such as a kebab or sandwich. There are no annoying sellers of all sorts of nonsense walking along the beaches, just like in Thailand, but occasionally you can meet sellers of sweet rolls (by the way, very, very tasty!) and corn.

Now let's move on to more detailed description the most popular beaches of Sunny Beach and southern Bulgaria. To begin with, I will show you a map of resorts in Bulgaria so that you can clearly see where the beaches I describe are located. When describing the beaches, I will go from north to south.

Elenite

Elenite is a fenced complex of luxury hotels with private beaches; entry to the complex is through a checkpoint with a security guard. The most famous hotels of the resort are Robinson Beach and Elenite Spa Villas with all-inclusive meals, private beaches, and water slides. Elenite is rightfully considered one of the most romantic corners on the Black Sea coast. In addition to hotels, there are luxury villas. Elenite is suitable for a quiet and measured holiday on your honeymoon. The most famous beach of the resort is Robinson Beach, which is about 700 meters long, the width of the beach is small - about 30-40 meters.

Saint Vlas

The beach in Sveti Vlas is large and divided into several small beaches. Here you can practice water sports or take a yacht ride. The entrance to the sea is very convenient. The sides of the beach are framed by rocks. Only the beaches with hotels in Sveti Vlas are equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers.

The resort is located at a distance from chain supermarkets, which is extremely inconvenient if you want to stay in apartments and eat on your own. There are only small private shops and grocery stores here. Sveti Vlas is one of the most elite holiday destinations in Bulgaria. All the infrastructure is here beautiful life: yacht club, casino, water park, nightclubs. In terms of its grooming, St. Vlas is not inferior to expensive resorts in Spain. The most popular resort hotels are the all-inclusive Moonlight Hotel and the Saint George Palace Hotel. I highly recommend the second hotel “St. George” for accommodation - we stayed at a hotel of the same chain and were very pleased with the service.

sunny Beach

The total length of the beach is 10 km. The beach is notable for its long and gradual entry into the water, which is well suited for children. The water on the beach is cloudy with sand. The city beach of Sunny Beach is huge and quite well equipped: there are sun loungers and umbrellas, cafes and bars. The Sunny Beach beach has been awarded the famous Blue Flag, which indicates its level of cleanliness.

The closest resort to Sunny Beach is . I didn’t really like the fact that it was too noisy on the beach in Sunny Beach, because... The British and Germans like to hang out here; entertainment on the beach includes beach volleyball, water sports and banana and bun rides. Sunny Beach is a very busy resort, and it’s definitely not worth going here for a quiet and measured family vacation. Sunny Beach is perfect for a holiday with friends, a hen or stag party, as well as for parties. Hotels on the first line in the Sunny Beach resort: Hotel Dune, DIT Evrika Beach Club Hotel.

Ravda

Ravda is a rapidly developing resort with more low prices than on Sunny Beach. Ravda has a water park, an amusement park, souvenir shops, cafes and traditional restaurants - mehana. There are no cultural entertainments in Ravda - there is only beach, family holiday. Tourists who lack entertainment in Ravda head in the evenings to Nessebar, which is just 15 minutes away by bus.

There are two beaches in Ravda: Akademika beach and South beach. Akademika Beach - a narrow strip sandy beach, stretched along the Black Sea. This is a long city beach with all the infrastructure: umbrellas, sun loungers, cafes serving Bulgarian and European cuisine. The water on the beach is clear, entry into the water is convenient.

The southern beach is wider and longer. It is located very close to large hotel complexes on the first line from the sea. To get to the beach you have to go down the mountain. A paved path lined with lush greenery leads to South Beach. Ravda was appreciated by many Russian stars who bought real estate here: Philip Kirkorov, Lolita, Boris Moiseev, Nadezhda Babkina. They bought themselves an apartment in the Emerald Beach Resort & Spa complex, which is located on the South Beach of Ravda.

Pomorie

A well-equipped resort for a beach holiday, where our compatriots prefer to relax. The resort has North and South beaches. The total length of the resort beaches is 2 km. The central city beach of Pomorie is considered to be the beach near the large Grand Hotel Pomorie. The resort of Pomorie has both equipped beaches with sun loungers and umbrellas, and wild beaches without infrastructure. There are a lot of people on the equipped beaches during the season

The most modern beach of the resort is South Beach. The water on the South Beach is warm and clear, the sand is golden, the beach is equipped with special wooden platforms for easy access to the beach, nice sunbathing tents are available for rent at a price of 40-50 leva per day. It is convenient for families with children to relax here. The beach offers many water attractions. There are lifeguards on the beach. For solitude, you should go to the beach, located between the cities of Aheloy and Pomorie. By the way, in Pomorie there is Lake Pomorie, famous for its healing mud and salt water.

The most beautiful and well-equipped 5-star hotel near South Beach is Sunset Resort. This is a whole city with its own swimming pools, cafes and entertainment.

Burgas

Chernomorets

Another Bulgarian resort for a relaxing holiday with your family, which is absolutely not suitable for active youth. is located on a peninsula on the shore of a picturesque bay with a curved coastline. Here the tourist will find all the necessary infrastructure: grocery stores, restaurants, car rental. They are accommodated here mainly in guest houses and small hotels. For the most part, buildings in Chernomorets are low-rise, with houses with 1-2 floors predominating. A good option for comfortable accommodation in Chernomorets are the 3-star hotels Atia Resort and Hotel Debi, from where you can get to the beach in just 4-5 minutes of a leisurely walk. If you are going on vacation big company, then it is more profitable to rent an apartment on Airbnb for 4 people.

Chernomorets has two amusement parks, water activities, cafes and restaurants on the beach, Botanical Garden. The beaches of Chernomorets are very clean, located in cozy bays, so there are practically no waves here. The beaches are long (about 1.5-2 km), but quite narrow. Chernomorets is located a 10-minute drive from Sozopol, where you can go on an excursion after a long day at the beach. Water activities in the city include sailing on a yacht, boats and catamarans, banana boat rides, and fishing.

Sozopol

Tourists who want privacy head to the golden sandy Harmanite beach in the southern part of Sozopol. This beach is much wider and longer than Central Beach and offers many water activities, as well as beach soccer and volleyball courts. Goldfish Beach is located north of Sozopol and is extremely popular among Bulgarians. There is a surf school here and all the necessary beach infrastructure. A pleasure boat runs between Sozopol and Nessebar, but be careful - many people get seasick on it.

Dunes

Away from the bustle of the city is the Duni (or Duni) resort with a huge beach line. The dunes are located away from the main road from Burgas, so nothing will disturb your holiday here. The beaches of the Dunes resort have been awarded the blue flag. In total, there are 5 luxury hotels on site, the most popular of which is the Duni Marina Royal Palace Hotel complex on the first line by the sea with its own beach. The resort got its name thanks to the sand dunes that stretch along the coastline for a distance of more than 4 km, the width is no more than 100 meters.

The Dunes resort is surrounded by pine forests in a nature reserve. The local air has a healing effect. Sea in the Dunes with crystal clear water. The beaches outside the hotel complex are wild and unequipped; Campers from different countries like to relax on them in tents, as well as nudists. On the beaches of the Duni resort, beach sports and windsurfing are common.

Primorsko

If you are looking for privacy from the crowds of tourists, go to Perla, a beach near the former residence of Todor Zhivkov. The beach here is located in a cozy bay. The water here is very warm, and you can rent a sunbathing tent for the whole group for 30 leva (15 Euro) per day. The entry into the water on Perl is very gentle and long, which is convenient for children. Perla can be reached on foot from North Beach, but be aware that this will take you through a nudist strip.

The southern beach of Primorsko is more well-equipped: there are changing cabins, showers, and restaurants nearby. In addition, there are often food and drink vendors walking along the beach, which is very convenient. Umbrellas and sun loungers are rented here for 6 leva per day - a little more expensive than on the North Beach. South Beach is located very close to the main shopping street of Primorsko - st. March, 3rd. There are many private aparthotels and guesthouses near South Beach.
