Installation wooden crate

The substructure for a ventilated façade using Cedral™ fiber cement siding consists of a horizontal and a vertical beam.

The horizontal bar is fastened with nails or screws to the load-bearing wall. Mounting method depends on the material bearing wall, and must provide sufficient strength and reliability of fastening. For fastening to a brick or concrete wall, a stainless steel screw must have a diameter of at least 7 mm and a nylon dowel. The maximum distance between horizontal bars is 600 mm.

As thermal insulation, between horizontal bars is installed mineral wool, which is attached to the base with dish-shaped dowels. The thickness of the insulation is selected according to the heat engineering calculation.

The waterproofing film is attached to the vertical bars with a construction stapler, with an overlap of 100 mm.

The thickness of the wooden bars of the horizontal crate should be equal to the thickness of the thermal insulation. The bars of the horizontal lathing must be 60 mm wide, with a minimum thickness of 30 mm. Usually a beam of 60x60 mm or 60x80 mm is used. With a greater thickness of thermal insulation, instead of horizontal bars, galvanized steel brackets are used and vertical wooden bars are attached to them.

The vertical bars are attached to the horizontal bars with two stainless steel screws. The width of the bars of the vertical crate is not less than 50 mm. At the junction of two horizontal boards - 70mm. Minimum Thickness bar 40 mm. At the joints of fiber cement siding (seams), in external and inside corners, the battens of the batten must be covered with EPDM tape or self-adhesive black tape in order to prevent moisture from entering the batten. The width of the tape must be at least 10 mm wider than the supporting vertical bar.

Each fiber cement board must be attached to at least three vertical bars. If the board is attached to two bars, then maximum distance should not exceed 400 mm. The quality of wood and its protection against decay must comply with the requirements of GOST.

Fiber cement installation Cedral boards on the crate

fiber cement siding Kedral™ is installed with a minimum overlap of 30mm. The boards can be attached with stainless steel self-tapping screws (min. 4.0 x 40 mm) without pre-drilling or with ribbed nails.

Installation starts at the bottom of the façade, where a 10 mm thick and 30 mm wide starter strip is attached. The first board is nailed onto it, which allows you to set the desired angle of inclination for all Cedral™ siding boards.

When finishing interior and outside corners, we recommend using profiles that allow you to give the building a finished and concise look. The length of all profiles is 3000mm, the color of the surface of the profiles corresponds to the shades of the Kedral™ sheathing.

When fastening the board with a screw or nail, the distance to the horizontal edge of the board should be at least 20 mm, the distance to the vertical edge -20 mm. The ends of fiber cement siding are fastened "butt" on a wooden bar. The gap between the boards is recommended to leave at least 3 mm. Each end of the board must necessarily lie on a support. Black EPDM tape is used at vertical joints to protect wooden blocks from moisture.

Fiber cement boards themselves do not need ventilation. However, it is recommended to leave air gap at least 20 mm behind the siding boards for wall ventilation, in order to exclude the possibility of condensation that appears for one reason or another on the wall of the building. The slot from below is further closed with a special perforated profile to protect against insects and rodents.

The number of fiber cement boards to cover the wall with a height of H (mm) is determined by the formula:

n = 1 + ( (H - 190) / 160 )

The result (N) is further rounded up to an integer. If you don't want to cut the last board or the gap gets too small, you can try a larger overlap (o). The calculation can be carried out according to the formula:

o \u003d (N * 190 - H) / (N - 1)

However, this overlap must not exceed 50 mm. If a variable overlap is used on one facade wall, then the difference between adjacent boards should not exceed 10 mm.

Processing and cutting material

Fiber cement facade boards easy to saw, drill and mill. To cut fiber cement siding, it is recommended to use a circular saw with a carbide blade and diamond or hardened carbides on the teeth. Smaller pieces can be cut with a hand saw with tungsten carbide teeth. Alternatively, a high speed jigsaw and a carbide saw can be used for cutting. When using a power tool, use a dust extractor.

When processing, the board must be firmly fixed to the workbench. The workbench must be stable to avoid vibrations. The board should not experience stress when cutting. Incorrect trimming can cause peeling at the cut edges. Cut ends after trimming must be cleaned with sandpaper from burrs. The dust accumulated after sawing, drilling and processing the board should be removed immediately, for this you can use a dry soft cloth. Uncleaned dust can leave permanent stains.

When drilling holes, the board must rest on wooden table, the drill must have a carbide tip with a sharpening angle of 600. When drilling holes large diameter, it is recommended to use a Metabo cutter.

Retouching of end and longitudinal sections

Based on the durability of the material, there is no need to tint the ends of the boards. But for aesthetic reasons, it is better to tint the visible ends with retouch paint. The paint must be selected in accordance with the color of the fiber cement board itself. Before painting, the surface must be dry, free of dirt and dust. Leaks must be removed immediately.

Facade board painted in special colors - ( Walnut CL100, Cherry CL101, Pear CL102), requires mandatory painting of exposed saw cut surfaces.

Gone are the days when brick, wood and vinyl were used as the main building material. Today, in order to create harmonious and beautiful architectural solutions, it has become possible application and other facing materials, including special attention deserves fiber cement siding.

Fiber cement and materials made from it are distinguished by high wear resistance, which allows saving on building repairs and significantly increases its service life, moisture resistance and impact resistance, which provides excellent protection of walls from harmful natural and mechanical influences. Fiber cement siding can be used to clad any building, be it a private house, restaurant, hospital or industrial building.

Exactly facade materials determine the appearance of the house. Therefore, only high-quality and reliable materials, such as fiber cement siding, should be used for facade cladding.

Fiber cement siding Eternit Cedral

There is a huge selection of fiber cement panels on the building materials market. Among them, the most popular fiber cement siding is eternit, which is produced at a factory in the Belgian city of Capella ob den Boss. Due to its high consumer qualities, siding has gained recognition all over the world, including in Russia.

Eternit Cedar fiber cement boards are an excellent alternative to conventional wood. Outwardly, they look like natural wood and look very attractive. Their surface is recognized as the most successful imitation of the texture of cedar, which is where the name Cedral comes from. Such fiber cement slabs, when properly installed, can give any building a feeling of natural virgin warmth, while the disadvantages that are inherent wooden cladding are excluded completely.

Eternit fiber cement siding is easy to process hand tool which greatly simplifies their installation. In addition, the fastening of such panels is carried out without pre-drilling. Cedar slabs are highly resistant to impacts environment and provide excellent sound insulation of the walls. Eternit siding fully complies with the requirements of the EN12467 standard established in Europe, which guarantees it high quality, durability and reliability.

Composition of fiber cement boards Kedral

Fiber cement siding Kedral - absolutely natural, environmentally friendly pure product. It consists of cement, organic fibers with a binding property, special additives that increase the strength characteristics of the boards, a color coating in the form of acrylic paints on water based And protective covering printed on the back of the board. Due to the use of natural components in the manufacture of fiber cement, all products from it do not need special maintenance, and therefore, it has an almost eternal life.

It is worth noting that Kedral fiber cement siding boasts not only the absence of synthetic additives in its composition. Among other things, it does not burn, does not rot and does not crack even in very severe frost.

During manufacture, eternit fiber cement siding passes through an autoclave oven, as a result of which all its components become homogeneous. After that, the outer surface of the products is covered with a layer of water-dispersion acrylic paint, and the back side is protected.

Advantages of Eternit Cedral fiber cement boards

Fiber cement siding Kedral among similar boards from other manufacturers is favorably distinguished by the following advantages of the material:

  • high aesthetic properties;
  • resistance to microorganisms;
  • resistance to temperature changes;
  • high strength;
  • fire safety;
  • water resistance;
  • affordable price.

Types of fiber cement siding panels Eternit Cedral

There are several types of fiber cement Cedar slabs, each of which has its own characteristics:

  1. Kedral Classic. The outer surface of such a panel is an imitation of the texture of natural wood. 22 standard and 6 special board colors are known. Before applying paint, the surface of each of them must be covered with a primer. Their installation must be carried out with an overlap;
  2. Kedral Click Classic. The texture and color palette of these panels is identical to the previous series. Their difference is the presence of a horizontal lock and a greater working width and thickness. The panels are fastened end-to-end;
  3. Cedar Smooth. In contrast to the Cedral Classic series, these panels have a smooth surface while the shape, dimensions color palette they are exactly like her. Overlapping plates are installed.
  4. Cedar Click Smooth. The color palette, size and shape of these plates are identical to the Kedral Click Classic series, but their surface is absolutely smooth. Panels must be installed end-to-end.

Step by step installation of fiber cement siding Eternit Cedral

The general principles of facing the facade of the house with fiber cement siding Eternit Kedral are similar to the principles of installing other types of siding: basement, vinyl, steel. The whole process can be divided into several stages:

  • construction of a horizontal crate;
  • installation of thermal insulation and wind protection;
  • construction of a vertical crate;
  • fixing siding panels.

To work, you will need the following tools and materials:

  1. stationary or manual circular saw;
  2. drill;
  3. hammer;
  4. carbide drills;
  5. stainless steel nails;
  6. metal or wooden profile;
  7. fiber cement panels;
  8. mineral wool;
  9. waterproofing material.

Construction of a horizontal crate

Installation of a horizontal crate is carried out in cases where it is planned to make external insulation building walls. For this, it is used wooden block section 50 x50 mm. It is pre-treated with an antiseptic to protect against premature decay and damage by microorganisms.

The batten is fastened with screws and dowels. The distance between adjacent bars depends on the width of the insulation. In this case, the fastening step of the crate should not exceed 60 cm.

Installation of thermal insulation and wind protection

As thermal insulation material when installing fiber cement siding, mineral wool is most often used. Thermal insulation boards are installed between the bars of the horizontal crate, after which they are attached to the wall with mushroom-shaped dowels (at least 5 pieces per mat).

A waterproofing material is spread over the insulation to protect it from wind loads, condensation and dusting. The membrane is rolled out from the bottom up with a mandatory overlap of 10 cm. The joints are glued with adhesive tape.

The construction of a vertical crate

A counter-lattice is stuffed over a horizontal crate with a fixed insulation, providing a ventilation gap to remove excess moisture. For this, bars with a section of 20 x 50 mm are used. They are fastened vertically in increments of 50 cm. The intersecting bars of the two crates must be pulled together with two self-tapping screws.

Fixing siding panels

To ensure protection against the penetration of rodents into the ventilation gap between the panels and the insulation, a perforated profile is installed along the entire perimeter of the surface to be finished, on top of which the initial bar is attached. When using Eternit Cedral siding from the overlapping series, a 30 mm wide fiber cement strip is used as it, and for the series with the butt installation method, an aluminum profile is used.

Fiber cement siding is modern look material, which consists of ordinary natural resources located in our environment: sand, water, air.

The special strength of such a panel is given by the fiber added to its structure. The homogeneous structure is formed by the autoclaving process of fiber cement elements. This design is able to withstand the action of the environment on it.

Application of fiber cement siding

If you need to repair or simply restore a building, whether it is residential or non-residential, so that in the end it becomes more wear-resistant, durable, fireproof and moisture resistant, then fiber cement is the most the best option solution of the task.

Nowadays, home decoration using is very popular all over the planet. In addition to the above benefits given material easy to install, and also it does not require special attention when caring for it.

Siding made from fiber cement consists of cement fiber panels, the ratio of which to each other as a percentage is: cement from 80% to 90%, and mineral aggregates and reinforcing fiber from 10% to 20%. And the final strength of fiber cement panels is given by the fiber. As a result, it forms facing material to cover the façade.

And, in addition, the material has such properties as:

  • fire resistance;
  • water resistance;
  • heat resistance (both to high and low temperatures);
  • resistance to chemical attack, as well as special strength, unlike conventional siding.

For finishing hinged facades in residential buildings for private purposes, Cedral is most often used, and for multi-storey buildings it is better to use Eternit fiber cement siding, it is also used as a decorative additional facade.

In addition, the material is also suitable for finishing the overhangs of the cornice, chimney and gable. And also for the construction of fences and partitions located on the street.

Fiber cement siding production

The Hatchek method is the main method for the manufacture of facade fiber cement panels. For the manufacture of Cedral fiber cement panels, such fillers are used as: cellulose fibers, quartz sand and air shaped into microscopic pores.

All this is extremely thoroughly mixed with each other in a special mixing vessel. Particles that contain cement are extracted from water by filtration, and with the help of equipment they are fed to a drum with a surface of a certain relief. Thanks to this procedure, fiber cement panels acquire a relief similar to a tree.

By repeated deposition of such particles, the panel is given desired thickness. After that, the material is cut to the desired length and the freshly released raw panels are sent to dry using the autoclave method.

Fiber cement siding is great option finishes, because its advantages are not only in quality, but also in a variety of design, style, beauty and, most importantly, in durability.

Caring for fiber cement siding

After installing the finishing material and after some time, you will definitely have a question: “How to wash it?”.

The fact is that the fiber cement surface itself can repel dirt, dust and other traces of pollution, and moreover, fiber cement panels are not a source of pollution, since they are composed of environmentally friendly resources.

But, if, nevertheless, you find some traces of dust or dirt residues, then ordinary soapy water is quite suitable for cleaning, since the surface of such a coating does not allow even the smallest contamination to stick normally. Besides, why strain yourself if any rain can cleanly polish your siding. And, even if it has not rained for several months, then with a simple damp cloth you can bring the material to a perfectly clean state.

The ease of cleaning fiber cement siding is another advantage over conventional wooden panels. As time goes on, technology changes and is not even a match for fiber cement. Well, if you want your house to have a wooden look, then you can always purchase a fiber siding panel with a wooden texture. And nice and good quality.

If you are worried that by setting such finishing material, your house will resemble a freezer in winter, then you are mistaken. Such panels have great heat resistance, due to the air in their cells in large quantities. With the help of air layers and elasticity of the material, such panels will not only keep your home warmth, but they will not miss the street frosts.

And it will be better if you do not allow moisture to enter the fiber cement panels when sub-zero temperature, since at this temperature, if droplets fall into the center of the panels, they will freeze and turn into ice, which will cause pressure on the panel from the inside. And thus, it is possible to significantly reduce the service life of fiber cement panels.
