DIY furniture corner. Making a soft corner with your own hands

The sofa corner perfectly complements the kitchen set. This is an excellent option for using space rationally: this furniture is versatile, comfortable and functional. The soft corner consists of two small sofas and a connecting part between them. Sometimes chairs are used to match the color of the fittings.

Why is it necessary to arrange such a corner in the kitchen yourself? Selecting factory furniture is often accompanied by difficulties. For example, standard headset parameters are sometimes not suitable for individual layouts. In this case, installing a homemade kitchen corner will be the best option. For correct production You will need drawings, materials for assembly with tools and a good mood.

How to make: step by step instructions

There may be many reasons why you want to make a sofa corner yourself, but the primary one is savings. A corner from manufacturers of “salon” furniture is much more expensive.

To start assembling such a structure yourself piece by piece, you first need to decide on some factors:

  1. understand exactly how the built-in corner will be located and in which direction it will be turned - to the right or to the left. After this, it is necessary to make drawings of the future project, which reflect all dimensions, from the height of the structure to the width and length. In general, all schemes must be written out thoroughly. This is important: this way there will be no errors when assembling and connecting parts;
  2. select materials for coating. If you want the life of the sofa corner to be as long as possible, you need to choose classic filling and upholstery (synthetics, leather substitute or fiber). The synthetic coating is easy to clean, retains its color for a long time and keeps its shape. Leatherette allows you to increase the service life of furniture, and fiber has the properties of repelling water and dirt. Internal fillers can be made of simple foam rubber or polyurethane foam material.

Once these factors are taken into account, you can begin to work. The instructions for your actions will be as follows:

  • First of all, based on the drawing, it is necessary to select all parts of the future corner and assemble a frame from slats. After this, it is necessary to attach other parts to such a structure, such as the bottom and the supporting wall.
  • Once both sides of the frame are assembled, it is necessary to connect the corner through the modular part.
  • Next, the soft part of the sofa is modeled - the upholstery. Foam rubber is glued to the outer part of the support.
  • A cover is made (separately), based on the dimensions from the drawings - all the necessary pieces of the future surface are cut off and nailed in such a way as to cover the foam rubber. A stapler is used for such actions.
  • The manufacture of a separate part, which is located between the two sides of the corner, must be done separately.
  • After this, you need to fix the covers that act as a seat.

Required materials and tools

To assemble high-quality furniture, you will need not only instructions for use with a brief action plan, but also certain tools and materials.

To design a corner sofa you will need:

  1. birch or pine layer measuring 2 by 4 centimeters - 100 centimeters;
  2. wooden block, the cross-section of which is 4 x 4 centimeters - 140 centimeters;
  3. timber about 2.5 by 2.6, measuring 370 centimeters from pallets;
  4. an elongated part made of solid wood 1.5 by 1.5 cm in cross section - 300 cm. For finishing the inner wall - a layer of chipboard;
  5. plywood sheet 1 centimeter thick for the bottom and sides;
  6. foam filling, 5 centimeters thick.
  7. fabrics for upholstery.

To assemble the above parts into a single structure, the following tools are needed:

  1. electric jigsaw;
  2. measuring angle;
  3. plane;
  4. construction fixer (stapler);
  5. screwdriver;
  6. automatic grinding machine;
  7. drill;
  8. bit;
  9. forceps;
  10. knives;
  11. yardstick;
  12. hammer.

Small accessories require confirmants and screws, measuring 0.4 by 2 centimeters, 0.4 by 6 and 0.4 by 8 cm. It is necessary to purchase bolts, nails, washers, hinge parts and bases. If the sofa has a folding structure, then according to the scheme a certain ready-made mechanism is required - straight sofas will go to it and the corner part will be fixed.

Interesting fact: DPS can be cut in special workshops. This creates a high-quality furniture frame. All you have to do is come to the furniture studio with detailed drawings of the future project, and the master will do the rest. The specialist will enter the diagrams into the computer, draw up a map of the wood cut and calculate chipboard sizes. All necessary parts will be manufactured according to the drawings.

However, some parts still need to be cut in your own workshop - for example, parts for figured purposes. In the lists they are marked as blank rectangles.

For an additional fee, they can also cut out shaped parts and paste end tape onto the base. To reduce your own work, you can use this service. Processing ABS tape on machines is much better than manual gluing of parts - you don’t have to deal with milling and making additional templates.

Drawings and diagrams

All accurate data and indicators must be recorded in the drawings. The dimensions and dimensions of the furniture should also be indicated in the footnotes. With the right explanations on paper, a sofa corner can be easily installed in the kitchen.

When choosing a ready-made drawing, skip diagrams that do not have an independent module. Connecting two parts of a furniture corner using a simple saddle will not be a reliable assembly method. Several posts that strengthen the structure must be present, otherwise the frame will not be properly protected. When used in a module circuit, the design will be easy to change, adjusting it to different sides. Certain patterns help in the future to install the sofa either in a corner or in a line, which is very convenient.

When determining the width and length of the corner, it is necessary to measure the area of the room, the design of the kitchen and the location of household appliances. After the contours are included in the kitchen plan, it is necessary to check the ratios: they should not be less than 60 centimeters.

Assembly

If the work is supposed to be completely independent, without going to a workshop for additional cutting of parts, then some rules should be taken into account:

  1. blanks from which parts will be made must be cut from plywood sheet. The DPS material on log houses is porous and non-uniform - the cutter bearing can jump off uneven surfaces, and the line will turn out crooked. If there is no plywood, then the ends of the blanks need to be covered with paper tape in several layers;
  2. At the final stage of assembly, the parts are not polished. Parts of a structure with a porous surface adhere better;
  3. outer side drawers are located at a certain angle. This is necessary for the comfort of seated people. The cutout of the parts of the racks on the sides should be made at a bevel of 10 degrees.

Please note: ABS tape is available in stores in two versions - with and without a layer of glue. The adhesive is applied to the raw tape using a special machine - this complicates its use at home. It is better to buy tape with glue.

Next, after the cutters are applied and the tapes are glued to the frame, you can assemble the straight sofas. It is necessary to make markings on the materials themselves - indicate the size of the holes on the side posts. Taking into account that the front part is recessed by several millimeters, a distance from the edge will be required by 11 mm. By the way, the ends are installed with thrust bearings.

You can assemble a corner for the kitchen yourself thanks to confirmations and dowels. It is better to use cutters in a smooth connection - this way the frame will be stable. Screws can be used on other surfaces and parts. Thanks to this, the design will be correct and with a minimum of holes. The bottom of the support must also be installed on dowel structures.

The kitchen corner itself is designed as follows:

  1. Dowels are installed in the connectors for the upper part in the middle of the side wall. In the future, it is necessary to install a support bar on them;
  2. attach the support part from the back;
  3. add a panel part to the frame;
  4. screw the support under the back (this is top part frame).

Installation of the back of the sofa occurs after the upholstery. The modular part, which will connect the straight sofas in the corner, is designed a little differently.

Modular part

The design of the back of the future sofa is related to the design of the modular part. For example, making a backrest in a semicircle is almost impossible without dividing the frame into three parts. Therefore, the back of the seating area consists of three narrow panels. It is easy to remake such a frame - you just need to eliminate one of the segments - replace it or adjust another.

Repair of the module's support strips is carried out during disassembly of the structure. For example, it is known that the classic form of a modular part is presented in the form of a scarf. Applying this knowledge in practice, you can fit additional compartments into the triangle.

Vertical racks for the module, it is installed between two support strips of the backrest - this is how the corner is fixed. It is not recommended to make drawers in this segment, since upholstery in this case is problematic, and the use carriage screed completely impossible.

It is necessary to attach a piano hinge to the elongated part of the seats (the covers are attached at the very end of the work). A beam measuring 4 by 4 cm is the basis of the frame for the module. When connecting the profile, you must remember that the three parts must be located at an angle of 45 degrees and 90 degrees to each other. After assembly, the module is covered with plywood.

Next, you need to sand all parts of the future corner. The wooden parts are treated with stain and, after drying, covered with several layers of varnish. The remaining parts are connected to the legs of the sofa and fastened with screws to the frame. The legs should be around the entire perimeter (about eight pieces).

The parts that are responsible for the supporting structure of the sofa are checked when adjusting the legs. The places of future fastenings are also pre-marked and holes with a diameter of 0.8 cm are drilled. Bolts are required with voluminous caps, and washers must be purchased in double quantities. Since one will go under the bolt, and the second will go under the nut.

Hand rests are made from timber measuring 4 by 4 cm. The grooves are made several centimeters deep, but it should be remembered that the width of the surface is related to the thickness of the side walls. After the armrests are installed, they need to be covered with glue and driven into the sides with screws. This is how the frame base is created and fastened to the module.

Padding

Reupholstering a sofa corner is The final stage, decorating the overall design of the furniture. Not only the seat, but also the back are made soft. If the sofa in the corner is small, then foam rubber 5 centimeters thick will do. You can also cover the sofa with dermantine, and to make the seats softer, you can use padding polyester. It's simple: the material is placed on glue and secured to the back. The choice of upholstery depends on the location of the sofa in the kitchen: the closer it is to the sink or stove, the coarser and stiffer the fabric is needed.

The foam rubber placed on the back is an excellent basis for upholstery. It must be remembered that padding polyester or other fillings should be slightly larger than the total length of the sofa - for bending on the side parts. The soft parts for the seat are cut out 2 centimeters wider in width, since the material is folded only forward.

To cover with fabric corner sofa, you must follow some rules:

  1. the fabric can be cut along the contour of the padding polyester. The material must be traced on the sofa itself, then add another 5 centimeters to the resulting dimensions and cut out the resulting piece;
  2. The length of the cover must be made 10 centimeters longer than the structure itself. It is necessary to pull the fabric with a fold in the corners and preferably using a stapler. The remaining parts can be covered in the same way;
  3. It is best to twist the kitchen corner in parts with a furniture tie.

Updating an old sofa

Having an old sofa corner in your home, you can easily update it. Restoring an old sofa into a new one is possible by changing the upholstery or the filling itself.

The first thing to do is cut out the damaged fabric and replace it. If the corner is connected by several parts, then the replacement must be made alternately on each body part. What actions are needed?

  1. remove the top cover;
  2. remove old foam rubber from all parts of the corner module;
  3. After this, re-cover the surface with new materials.

There are several ways to update an outdated corner sofa.

Use varnishes and paints. In this way, the restoration will be external - the change in color will affect the overall design of the kitchen and will add a note of freshness if bright and rich colors are used.

Change the upholstery material. For example, velor, which has lost its shape after long use, can be replaced with noble chenille fabric. Such material can bring comfort to general design, and is suitable for design in oriental style(thanks to ornate patterns).

Painting the sofa itself is used to hide damage, eliminate defects and simply refresh the structure itself. Paints can both enhance an overall space (e.g. green color fills the space with calmness) and expand it (in this case it is necessary to use light and white colors).

If you plan to make a folding sofa with your own hands, then according to the instructions, you need a special mechanism. The drawing of the sofa for the kitchen should indicate the calculated dimensions and dimensions. In this case, your kitchen corner will fit perfectly into the dimensions of the room.

DIY drawing of a sofa in the kitchen

The workpieces are sanded and leveled, and only then can they be marked and sawed. Average length The corner sofa measures 120 by 90 cm, the corner insert is 45 by 45 cm, and the back height is 85.5 cm.

First, according to the drawings, the main parts of the sofa from the kitchen corner are made - these are the sides. They are made from a thick sheet of plywood. The markings are made with a pencil, and then the part of the kitchen corner sofa is cut out along the lines with a jigsaw.

The next step is to make two frames from 4 by 4 centimeter beams for both sides of the sofa. Both frames should be in the form of parallelepipeds, which are then fixed to the sidewalls. The connections at the corners should look like a mustache and a spike, which are subsequently glued. T and L shape connections should be at a 90 degree angle.

Drawing and assembly diagram of a kitchen sofa with your own hands

At the corners, the connections can be with through holes or hidden, go into half of the beam, and also have one, two, or three tenons. They are secured with dowels or corners with self-tapping screws.

The frame of the corner sofa for the kitchen is connected to the back and secured on the sides. When the base is ready, you can assemble the hinged seat covers. Seats can be solid or sectional.

Rectangular frames for seats are made from a block 2.5 by 2.5 centimeters thick. Then they are sewn up with centimeter plywood. The seats are cleaned and covered with a layer of stain and varnish. Then foam rubber is glued and the fabric is stuffed.

A piano loop is attached to the long part of the corner sofa seats. Fastening the hinged covers is done at the end of the work. The corner module is assembled in the same way. A frame is made from a 4 by 4 centimeter block. The profile should be triangular in shape and have sides at angles of 45 and 90 degrees. The module is covered with plywood.

The assembled two parts of the sofas and the corner module are sanded. Open wooden elements are opened with stain and, accordingly, on top with three layers of varnish. All parts are placed on the sofa legs and fastened together. The connection takes place using screws to the frame support. There must be at least 8 legs.

Structural details are adjusted when adjusting the height of the legs. Marks are made in the places of future fastening. Holes for bolts with a diameter of 0.8 centimeters are drilled. Bolts and washers for them should have wide margins. There should be twice as many washers as there are bolts, so that one goes under the bolt and the other goes under the nut.

The upholstery fabric depends on the proximity of the sofa to the stove and sink. The surface should be easy to clean and not exposed to chemicals.

For a small-sized sofa, 5 cm foam rubber is suitable. For a semi-soft corner bigger size, the padding is taken from padding polyester. Foam rubber or padding polyester is glued to the back with glue. The fabric is cut out according to patterns and stapled to the back of the back, as well as at the junction of the back with the seat. The material is stretched and securely fastened at the corners. Then it is fixed around the entire perimeter.

Armrests are made from timber 4 by 4 cm thick. Do not forget to make grooves 2 - 3 cm deep. The width of this groove depends on the thickness of the side of the wall. The workpiece is finished with filler and upholstered with fabric. The armrests are covered with glue, inserted into the sides and secured with screws. Such a beautiful and easy-to-make sofa will last a long time, and its implementation will require much less cost than buying a ready-made one.

After this, you can begin making the table or chairs. Step-by-step video instructions will help you.

Video with drawings: How to make a kitchen corner with your own hands

Your Kitchen Area ready, now you can create a comfortable area in the kitchen with your own hands. Kitchen furniture is quite simple to make, and it will last long time without losing its original attractiveness.

If the search for the desired set of kitchen furniture has led nowhere, a great way to get exactly what you need is to make a kitchen corner with your own hands. You can choose the appropriate functionality, style and color of the sofa yourself. This is especially important for those who require a kitchen corner of a non-standard size.

Small corner sofas for the kitchen have a number of advantages. The furniture set occupies a small area, but provides a significant number of seats compared to chairs. In addition, kitchen corners can be equipped with voluminous storage spaces. You can purchase or make your own corner sofa for the dining area in any style: from classic to hi-tech.

Criteria for choosing materials for making a kitchen corner

When planning to make a kitchen corner with your own hands, you need to decide what materials it will be made from. The most suitable raw materials are laminated or sanded chipboard, plywood, wood (solid pine). Laminated chipboard is easy to work with, has the required strength (which is important when creating a frame), and is relatively inexpensive.

Sawing and grinding parts

According to a pre-prepared drawing, which can be drawn up using computer program or draw by hand on plain paper, the board is cut into separate pieces. To give the kitchen corner a more elegant look, we cut out the shaped elements with our own hands.

Advice! To obtain smooth shapes, curves can be drawn using a long flexible ruler.

All parts are subjected to rough and fine grinding using sandpaper with different grain sizes. Where necessary, holes are drilled for dowels, which are attached to PVA glue. Actually, the entire corner will be assembled using dowels and glue.

Connections based on dowels and glue are considered one of the most reliable in furniture production

Staining and varnishing

Instead of enamel, we will use stain as a coating, which saturates the wood without creating a film on the surface characteristic of paint. In this way, the structure of the tree is completely preserved, while its color can be very different - from light “pine” tones to a dark red hue.

Note! Stain has the ability to raise wood lint during the painting process. Therefore, after it dries, additional sanding of the surface will be required.

Varnish, like stain, is applied in two layers. To speed up the process, it is recommended to use a water-soluble varnish, the drying time of which under normal temperature conditions is 30 minutes.

The base of the kitchen corner after staining and varnishing

Before lubricating the ends with glue, we assemble the kitchen corner “dry” with our own hands. It is important to adjust all the holes and the length of the dowels so that the frame is assembled without gaps.

If all the ends and corners fit perfectly, then we assemble the frame using glue. To strengthen the structure, you can use ordinary metal corners 4x4, which are attached to the inner corners.

The bottom of the drawers is made of plywood or chipboard, which is simply placed on any furniture corners fixed to the bottom of the frame.

The base for the seat is cut out according to the dimensions indicated in the drawing from the same sheet of plywood or chipboard as the bottom of the drawers. Sheathing with soft material is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. We cut out a shape from foam rubber, which should be 2-3 cm larger than the base in length and width.

  1. We cover the seat with batting, roughly cutting it along the contour and fixing it with the same glue.

Covering the seat with batting

  1. We attach the upholstery fabric to the base using staples.

The result is a pretty decent corner sofa that can decorate any kitchen.

Wooden corner to the kitchen with your own hands

An original idea - a corner sofa made of pallets (pallets)

Construction of wooden pallets used for transportation various cargoes, is quite simple. At the same time, the reliability of such elements allows them to be used not only for their intended purpose, but also for the production of original furniture.

For your information! To make a pallet that can withstand heavy loads, manufacturers use premium lumber. Therefore, even used pallets are very reliable.

Of course, a corner sofa made from pallets, given their dimensions, will not fit in every kitchen. However, it can be used in a gazebo, especially since assembling the corner is not particularly difficult.

Drawing wooden pallet with standard sizes

Selection and fitting of pallets

At the first stage of manufacturing a corner sofa, you should carefully inspect each pallet and select only those designs that are free from defects. Special attention It is necessary to pay attention to cracks and large chips, which can cause unpleasant consequences during the use of the sofa.

Based on the dimensions of the pallet, a corner sofa is designed. If the area allows, you can assemble a structure from solid elements. Otherwise, you will have to use a circular saw or hand saw to adjust the required size.

Checking the integrity and preparing pallets according to the required dimensions

Connecting parts

Making your own kitchen corner or gazebo from pallets is very simple. To do this, you need to assemble a kind of construction set from prepared parts and fasten them together with screws.

To arrange the seat, you need to install pallets in two rows. This height will be sufficient, given that a layer of foam rubber (about 100 mm) or, for example, a thick mattress is supposed to be placed on top.

To make the back, you need to place the tray vertically and screw it to the bottom of the base. Actually, this completes the assembly of the frame.

Manufacturing of soft elements

As noted above, the soft part of the corner (seat and back) can be made of foam rubber, covering it beautiful fabric. Considering quite large area In this case, the products will have to be spent well, since furniture foam rubber is not cheap.

For your information! The price of one sheet of foam rubber measuring 2000x1000x100 mm starts from 1200 rubles.

If you use old mattresses and pillows as soft elements, you can save a lot. Of course, you will still have to buy upholstery fabric, but the costs will still be significantly lower.

Video: how to make a kitchen corner with your own hands

Build a simple DIY kitchen nook using wooden beam for frame and MDF boards for back and side panels and seat. I saw this instruction on Ron Haselton's website and decided to add this cool corner to my kitchen. The videos were taken from that site, because... I don’t have a photo of the manufacturing process itself. You can attach piano hinges to the seat so that you can store various things in the bench.

DIY kitchen corner construction

Step 1. Decide on the size of your corner
Draw a simple diagram of the bench so that it fits the wall and floor and all kitchen appliances.

Step 2. Determine the dimensions of the bench
Measure yourself for a comfortable chair. Compare the proportions of the bench with the height of its seat from the floor and the depth of its seat from the back to the front edge where your knees will bend.
Step 3. Take all the necessary parts for the frame and cut them to size
Make a list of material sizes for the wood pieces of the bench, noting the number of units of the same size. Cut out the pieces for the frame for the two seats, excluding the panels.
Step 4: Place the cut pieces and start assembling the frame
Lay down the boards for the bottom of the frame and apply glue to the adjacent surfaces. Screw them in with countersunk screws. Repeat these steps for the other parts of the frame and complete the seat bases.
Step 5: Cut fiberboard panels for covering
frame

Use a circular saw to cut the panels, checking they are even with a straight edge.
Step 6: Secure the seats with screws
Bring each of the seats into the kitchen before attaching them. Place the seats in an “L” shape and fasten them with long screws.
Step 7: Secure the front panels with glue and a nail gun
Apply glue to the front panels and secure them in place. Secure them with a nail gun, driving nails into the panel.
Step 8: Attach the supports and crossbars for the backrest
Attach the two backrest supports using glue and clamp the pieces together before driving the screws into them. Nail the long slats to the supports to provide a softer, more comfortable angle for the back panel. Secure the backrest.
Step 9: Make Patterns on the Side Panels
Take a strip of wood and make the first pattern on the side panel. Cut it with a hacksaw and this will be your template for the second panel. Glue and nail the seat backs first, then the sides and top trim.
Step 10: Install the Hinged Lid Using Piano Hinges
Attach the hinges to the lid with countersunk screws first, and then screw the lid to the base. Repeat the same process to install the second cover.

DIY kitchen corner

One of the most popular types of kitchen furniture is the corner sofa. Moreover, this type of furniture is used not only in an apartment or private house, but also in public places: cafes, restaurants, bars and other places. Making a kitchen corner with your own hands is a completely feasible task for anyone, you just have to want it. Moreover, you can install it not only in the kitchen, but also in any other small cozy room: living room or hallway. In order to make a corner sofa, you need to acquire the appropriate drawings, which you can easily find on the Internet, or, if you wish, make it yourself. They will all differ in the materials used, color variations, finishes and, of course, different design options.

First of all, when creating this type of furniture, you should pay attention to the load-bearing parts of the sofa. The sofa seats themselves, as a rule, are made of chipboard with lining of any color you like. It is best to make a soft pillow from foam material, covered with some kind of decorative fabric of increased strength. You can choose any color you like, the main thing is that it looks beautiful against the background of the finishing colors.

For lovers of discreet colors and shapes, we can offer the following option for a corner sofa. All load-bearing parts are made of wood slabs. Before use, they must be covered with white veneer. After you have assembled all the load-bearing parts of the sofa, you need to wet and sand them, then give it a walnut color using stain. After all this, apply a transparent varnish to the surface in several layers to achieve a matte effect. Everything needs to be covered with durable fabric, preferably beige or any other color close to it.

If you decide to make a kitchen corner with your own hands according to your own drawing, then their details and design can be of any size and shape, at your discretion. The only exception is the height and depth of the seat. They can only be changed if you are trying to copy the shape of the seat of any other furniture. The dimensions of the table must be made in accordance with the size of the sofa. Any other options and ideas when selecting materials are also possible. After the furniture is ready, it can be decorated using a milling machine. You can apply the patterns yourself based on your own imagination and creativity.

Not everyone can boast of a spacious kitchen with room for large furniture. IN small spaces every square meter is of great importance. This is especially true for the table area, where you want to organize as many seats as possible. For such a task, perhaps optimal solution is the use of a soft corner sofa, which will make it possible to make the most of the free space. Below we will look at several fairly simple options on how to make a kitchen corner with your own hands. Drawings and diagrams combined with step-by-step photo instructions, will allow even an inexperienced master to understand the process and complete the work without the involvement of professionals.

If you want to minimize carpentry work, then you can use ready-made Ikea shelves of appropriate dimensions as a frame. To make such a kitchen corner you will need the following materials:

  • Ikea shelves with fronts;
  • Chipboard or plywood;
  • furniture foam rubber;
  • upholstery fabric;
  • drill;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • construction stapler;
  • bolts with nuts.

Coziness and comfort in a small kitchen

Installation and connection of the frame

When choosing the size of the shelves, it is necessary to take into account certain standards: the height and depth of the seat of the soft corner in the kitchen should be on average 40-45 cm. The use of shelves is convenient because you can easily create not only an L-shaped structure, but also a U-shaped one, if For this purpose, the area and layout of the room are available.

The structural elements are connected to each other using bolts. To do this, you first need to drill holes of the appropriate diameter in the side walls. It is best to drill two shelves at once, fastening them together with clamps. However, this is not always possible due to the rather small internal space. If the drill does not fit inside the shelf, then a hole for mounting is drilled from the outside - separately in each wall. In this case, it is very important to take correct measurements in order to maintain alignment when connecting structural parts.

Advice! If the bolts are tightened too much, the wood may become deformed. To avoid this, it is necessary to use additional spacers under the bolt head and nut.

After installing the frame, you need to secure the fronts of the shelves. Of course, you can do without them, which will significantly reduce the cost of the design. However, if you want to have extra storage space for your kitchen utensils, then doors are a must.

The base for the seats is made of chipboard (OSB) sheets or plywood with a thickness of 10 mm or more. The use of wood chipboard or oriented strand board is the most cheap option. Although when choosing a material, it should be taken into account that plywood may be subjected to more high loads and has better moisture resistance.

The board is cut using a jigsaw according to the dimensions of the corner. After this, all ends must be sanded with medium-grit sandpaper.

Upholstery with soft material

Making soft seats for the kitchen corner is perhaps the most difficult stage of the work. Furniture foam rubber 80 mm thick is cut in the same way as a sheet of chipboard (plywood), and then glued to the base.

Note! For reliable bonding of foam rubber with wooden surface you need to use special glue. On furniture factories glue “88” or “Porolon-2” is often used, which are universal compositions for joining dissimilar materials.

The soft base must be covered with fabric, for which a construction stapler is used - the distance between the staples is 1-2 cm. The complexity of this work depends on the chosen fabric. Even an inexperienced person can do upholstery with a plain material, but correctly stretching fabric with a complex pattern is a task on a completely different level, requiring professional skills.

Ready product can be decorated with pillows, which will additionally serve as a soft backrest.

Simple kitchen sofa made from furniture board

One more affordable option is to make a kitchen corner with your own hands from furniture board. To complete this undertaking, you should purchase the following materials:

  • furniture board (18 mm);
  • acrylic paint;
  • foam rubber (80 mm and 20 mm);
  • textile;
  • drill;
  • jigsaw;
  • wood screws.

Cutting the shield and connecting parts

Before you start cutting the panel, draw up a drawing of the kitchen corner with dimensions that will meet your criteria. The scheme must be developed in such a way that at least 3 people can comfortably sit on the sofa.

The easiest way to cut a shield is with a jigsaw, although you can also use hand saw. The main thing is that all ends are located at an angle of 90° with respect to the main plane, for which the tool should be held strictly perpendicular while cutting.

The structural parts are connected to each other with self-tapping screws. To prevent cracks from forming during the tightening process, a hole should first be drilled for the screw.

Note! The diameter of the drill should be 0.5-1 mm less than the diameter of the screw.

Hull painting

To paint the kitchen corner, you can use either alkyd enamel or acrylic enamel. The second option is more preferable in terms of stability and durability of the layer. In addition, acrylic paint does not have a strong odor, so it can be applied directly indoors.

Before applying the first layer of enamel, the body must be treated with a primer to increase adhesion paint coating with a wooden surface. Usually 2 layers of paint are enough to get an even color. Although darker tones may require 3 coats.

Making soft pillows

For the soft part, as in the previous version of making a kitchen corner with your own hands, the best option is furniture foam rubber. Unlike materials such as padding polyester or holofiber, which also provide volume, foam rubber also has good density, so sitting on it is more comfortable.

Note! For the back, it is enough to use foam rubber with a thickness of 20 mm, while for the seat you will need a thicker layer - 80 mm.

If you know how to work sewing machine, for foam pillows you can sew removable covers with an elastic band or zipper. This approach is convenient in that the old fabric can always be replaced with a new one without putting much effort into it.

Sawing and grinding parts

According to a previously prepared drawing, which can be drawn up using a computer program or drawn by hand on plain paper, the board is cut into separate sections.

To speed up the process, it is recommended to use a water-soluble varnish, the drying time of which under normal temperature conditions is 30 min.

To strengthen the structure, you can use ordinary 4x4 metal corners, which are attached to internal corners.

The bottom of the boxes is made of plywood or chipboards, which is simply placed on any furniture corners fixed to the bottom of the frame.

The base for the seat is cut according to the dimensions indicated in the drawing from the same sheet of plywood or chipboard as the bottom of the drawers. Covering soft material is performed in the following sequence:

  1. We cut out a shape from foam rubber, which should be 2-3 cm larger than the base in length and width.

  1. We cover the seat with batting, roughly cutting it along the contour and fixing it with the same glue.

  1. We attach the upholstery fabric to the base using staples.

The result is a pretty decent corner sofa that can decorate any kitchen.

DIY wooden corner for the kitchen

An original idea - a corner sofa made of pallets (pallets)

Selection and fitting of pallets

At the first stage of manufacturing a corner sofa, you should carefully inspect each pallet and select only those designs that are free from defects. Particular attention should be paid to cracks and large chips, which can cause unpleasant consequences during the use of the sofa.

As noted above, the soft part of the corner (seat and back) can be made of foam rubber, covered with a beautiful fabric. Taking into account the rather large area of the product, in this case you will have to spend a lot of money, since furniture foam rubber is not cheap.
