Our choice was determined by a number of factors:

3. There is hope to reduce travel time at least a little. Railway makes a detour in east direction and then goes south. The highway takes a shorter, more direct route. Even with traffic jams in Bangkok, you can save time. The return journey took us 3.5 hours.
