"Results of the VII Research of the recruitment market in Moscow conducted by the magazine Human Resources Management

A surprising fact of the annual VII Research of the recruitment market was a significant increase in the number of Russian companies using the services of recruitment agencies. Last time, out of 1,200 large Moscow firms, about 600 indicated in their questionnaires the names of large-rated recruitment agencies and gave a good assessment of their quality of work. This time there were 200 more, that is, 800. The increase was mainly due to Russian companies. Growth leaders are IT companies and car dealers.

The specificity of the study, as before, is that the respondents are current and former clients of recruitment agencies in Moscow, who evaluate the quality of services and the quality of selected personnel on a 10-point scale.

Our methodology for calculating grades basically consists in taking into account the number of selected specialists. For example, agency X was rated 7 points for 1 vacancy and 9 points for 2 vacancies. With a normal calculation, we would get an average score of 8 points (we did this in the distant first study), in this case we think differently: 7 * 1 + 9 * 2. So, 25 points are divided by 3 vacancies: a total of 8.3. Thus, the ratings of companies where agencies filled more vacancies have more weight. And this is fair.

80% of the companies submitted their lists to us, the rest can, of course, claim that they actually have many times more customers. We will not argue with them. But this is unlikely because:

  1. most companies work with several recruiting agencies with high ratings;
  2. retaining an exclusive customer today is unrealistic, since more than 300 agencies in Moscow "attack" the market very actively, leaving almost no company unattended;
  3. Today, all serious firms are forced to turn to the services of recruiting agencies (recruitment, personnel consulting) - in Russia there is a real battle for talented and successful managers.

The purpose of the study is to identify the scale of the recruitment market in Moscow, the real level of personnel outsourcing in large companies, new trends and, in the bottom line, the best among the Recruitment agencies in Moscow and the Russian Federation.

Survey VII also shows the scale of work by Kelly Services, although, again, we did not set ourselves the task of rating the scale of companies. Our goal is an average assessment of the quality of service and “along the way” identifying leaders.

So, what do readers want from the study, i.e. Russian companies that sometimes turn to the services of recruiting agencies? They want to see all the agencies together in one table and, above all, compare their average performance ratings for the quality of service and candidates. But there is one paradox here: the larger the recruitment agency, the more difficult it is for it to keep the quality of service at the highest level.

Many agencies with up to 10 clients get top marks because they operate almost exclusively and manage to keep their consultants under control. And all the more respect deserves agencies that, while increasing their scale, maintain the quality of services.
