What is a metal-plastic window? Types of metal-plastic doors, their characteristics, installation and operation features Metal-plastic window blocks

Reading time: 6 minutes.

Modern quality windows– one of the conditions for creating a comfortable microclimate in a house or apartment. There are many types of double-glazed windows on the market, among which metal-plastic products are becoming increasingly popular.

What it is

Metal-plastic windows are windows made of PVC profiles reinforced with a metal frame. Products from ordinary plastic profile can change their geometry as a result of thermal changes. With the change of seasons, the expansion and subsequent contraction of a window made of unreinforced plastic can reach 1 cm, depending on the overall dimensions, which leads to a loose fit of the sash to the frame and sagging, the appearance of cracks.

Reinforcement with a metal profile gives additional rigidity to the structure, prevents deformation and significantly reduces the likelihood that the sash will sag and stop closing.

Reinforcing U-shaped profile for rigidity

The metal-plastic window has a standard general design:

  • double-glazed window - a sealed element consisting of several glasses, the distance between which is filled with air or inert gases;
  • frame - a fixed part mounted in a window opening;
  • sash - the opening part;
  • – silicone gaskets that perform soundproofing functions; installed at the edges of the glass unit;
  • (locks, hinges, handles) – determines the functionality of the window structure and the opening system.

Types of metal-plastic windows

By type of double-glazed windows:

According to glass properties:

By sash type:

  • Deaf. A fixed structure, in residential premises it is advisable to install it in combination with opening doors.
  • Folding. Used for skylights or safe ventilation with panoramic balcony glazing.
  • Rotary. It opens inward (rarely outward), provides a powerful flow of air into the room, and makes it possible to easily wash the outer surface of this and adjacent doors.
  • Tilt-and-turn. Combines the advantages of swing and folding sashes and is the most convenient design.

In addition to the basic parameters, metal-plastic windows vary in shape and color. In addition to the usual rectangular ones, round, trapezoidal, triangular and other exotic shapes can be made to order.

Instead of standard white the profile is painted in more than 10 colors or laminated with a durable film that imitates wood textures.
Original design technique– stained glass, with the help of which window opening you can create a real work of art.

Selection factors

The market offers a wide range of products. To make the right choice, you need to consider several factors.

Features of the room

Purpose. Single-chamber double-glazed windows do not retain heat well and are suitable for utility rooms, storage rooms, and cold balconies. For residential premises in Russian climatic conditions, 2-3-chamber double-glazed windows are required.

Location. For apartments on the ground floors, it is recommended to immediately install protective locking fittings and impact-resistant glass. Especially durable armored products are produced for offices and shops.

Degree of illumination. If the window is located on the sunny side and on a high floor, and is not blocked by neighboring buildings, it is advisable to provide glass with a special sun protection coating or film.

Humidity. If the ventilation of the room is poor, double-glazed windows with built-in valves are installed, which will allow maintaining an optimal microclimate without frequently opening the windows.

Which metal-plastic double-glazed windows are better?

Metal-plastic window– a prefabricated structure, each element of which affects the overall quality level of the entire product:

  • Type of reinforcing metal. Ferrous metal is highly susceptible to corrosion and is used in budget models. High-quality products use a moisture-resistant galvanized frame.
  • Reinforcement quality. It is important that the sash and frame are strengthened along the entire perimeter, and not in places - then the structure will receive uniformly improved rigidity.
  • Number of glasses. The more there are, the better the heat and sound insulation properties of the window.
  • Quality of fittings. Hinges and locking devices directly affect consumer properties and the duration of operation of a metal-plastic window. Preference should be given to proven brands (Maco, Roto, Vorne).

How to choose

In the production of metal-plastic windows, in addition to using quality materials and parts, it is equally important to follow the technology of connections and seams, and the qualifications of installers must be at a high level. Therefore, when choosing windows, you should definitely pay attention to the presence of:

  • decent production capacity at the manufacturer;
  • quality certificates for components (profiles, fittings);
  • positive reputation of the dealer-seller;
  • long warranty period.

When ordering you need:

  • Decide on the type and size of sections depending on the glazing area and the purpose of the room. The number and location of the swing-out doors must be such as to provide convenient access to all external surfaces of adjacent blind sections.
  • Choose double-glazed windows with the optimal number of chambers - the degree of thermal insulation of the room will depend on this.
  • Provide locking and protective fittings.

The advantages of metal-plastic windows are obvious. There are some of them important characteristics(for example, the presence and type of reinforcing frame) cannot be checked upon purchase, so it is important to choose a trusted and reliable manufacturer. You should not skimp on the quality of components and parts - a more expensive purchase will pay off in the future and save owners from additional hassle and costs.

Metal-plastic window systems and doors are made of PVC plastic, reinforced with a metal frame, which is located in the middle of the structure. This gives the window leaf additional rigidity and strength.

Metal-plastic window design:

  • Plastic frames reinforced with metal profiles;
  • Doors;
  • Accessories;
  • Double-glazed windows;
  • Rubber seal.

The main component of the metal-plastic structure is a PVC profile, reinforced with a reinforced metal frame. It gives rigidity to the metal-plastic structure. The plastic profile has jumpers that contain air. These are profile cameras. The warmth of the profile depends on their quantity. Usually there are from 3 to 7 cameras.

The reinforcing frame can be closed or shaped like the letter “P” or “G”. It is built into the main chamber located in the center.

A double-glazed window is an element of a metal-plastic window. It consists of two or three glass surfaces, which are separated by air or gas.

The chamber consists of two glasses, with air or a special gas (argon) pumped between them. The chamber near the double-glazed window must be sealed.

Silicone seals have a soundproofing function. They are installed on both sides along the edges of the glass unit.

Also important factor Fittings play a role in the durability and functionality of a metal-plastic, wooden, aluminum, plastic window or door.

What should a high-quality metal-plastic window look like?

Before installing a metal-plastic structure, it is important to focus your attention on some nuances:

  • Inspect appearance metal-plastic frames and double-glazed windows. The window must have the same, uniform color and integral structure;
  • All surfaces must be flat, smooth without scratches or dents;
  • It is important that the seams between the parts are neat, cleaned and even;
  • Double-glazed windows must be completely dry inside, not sweaty, without droplets of water. Glass - smooth, even without scratches;
  • The reinforcement of your window can be judged by the presence of screws. This is how the reinforcement is attached to the plastic profile.

You can check whether a metal-plastic window or door is installed properly using the following criteria:

  • The frame is securely fixed during installation. When opening a window, the sashes should not dangle freely, have various deviations, or vibrate.
  • When closing, the sash should fit tightly, along its entire length, to the frame, without any deviations. If this standard is not met, drafts will be felt.
  • When opening and closing the doors, the fittings should move smoothly and gently.

If you notice any shortcomings, try to eliminate them and adjust the operation of the metal-plastic system.

What is important to consider when choosing a manufacturer?

When choosing a manufacturer metal-plastic structures, you need to pay attention, first of all, to the company for which the reputation and quality of the installed windows are most valuable.

Such a company can sell very expensive wooden, aluminum, plastic, metal-plastic window designs, and economy class models.

Such a company must have a certificate, which is issued every two years.

All components of aluminum, wood, plastic, metal-plastic systems and doors must also have certificates and conclusions on environmental safety.

For each installed window and door (metal-plastic, wooden, aluminum, plastic) must be issued technical certificate with warranty card.

If a company installing wooden, aluminum, metal-plastic, plastic window systems and doors cannot provide all of the above documents, then you are taking a big risk by entrusting them with the installation of windows and doors in your home.

After installation in your country house really high-quality metal-plastic window systems, costs associated with heating will drop by as much as 25%.

When replacing old wooden structures to metal-plastic ones, literally after a few minutes you can feel how much more comfortable, warmer, and quieter the apartment has become.

How to care for metal-plastic window systems?

Window models made of metal-plastic require careful handling. Subject to certain rules operation, the service life of the metal-plastic structure will become significantly longer. Necessary:

  • Lubricate fittings twice a year. This applies to all moving elements;
  • Wash metal-plastic frames and glass, it is recommended to use a soap solution or special means. You can buy them in a store that sells components for metal-plastic, wooden, and aluminum windows. Do not use powdered detergents. They can scratch the surface and disrupt the integrity of the material;
  • When washing, pay attention to the rubber seals. They also need to be carefully wiped so that the frames retain their airtight properties.

Metal-plastic models captivate with their practicality and beauty. If you want to install new windows, there are several options: wooden, plastic, aluminum and, of course, metal-plastic. The choice is yours!

Compared to other types of doors, metal-plastic structures appeared on our market relatively recently. Despite this, they quickly gained popularity. Such doors can be installed both at the entrance to the room and inside, and for modern balcony- this is practically the only solution. Depending on the purpose, such a design will differ in the profile of the sashes, the method of reinforcement, the fittings used and the dimensions.

Although metal-plastic doors have a similar design to plastic windows, they are manufactured in accordance with higher requirements.

The metal-plastic door consists of the following elements.

  1. Frame. To make the front door, a five-chamber profile is used, and to strengthen it, a reinforcing belt is used. Interior and balcony doors can also be made from a three-dimensional frame, however, the more chambers, the higher the strength, heat and sound insulation characteristics of the frame. The presence of an armored belt allows you to install reliable locking devices, as well as powerful hinges.

    For input and balcony doors it is better to choose products from a five-chamber profile

  2. Door leaf. As in the manufacture of the frame, only a five-chamber profile is used for entrance structures. To fill the canvas are used metal sheets, between which insulation is laid. Metal sheets are not installed in balcony and interior doors, but they are also filled with insulation, which improves their heat and sound insulation characteristics. If a double-glazed window is required, armored glass is usually installed on the entrance doors, and on interior and balcony doors - strained glass or triplex.

    The door leaf may have glass inserts made of tempered or armored glass depending on the purpose of the structure

  3. Locking devices. To ensure security, deadbolt locks are installed on the entrance doors, which lock the doors along its entire perimeter. Other, less reliable types of locks can be used for balcony and interior doors.
  4. Handles, hinges. Exists big choice accessories that differ not only in appearance, but also in workmanship. For entrance doors three loops are used, since the weight of their canvases is greater; in other cases there may be two loops.
  5. Sealing elements. They provide high tightness of the structure.

    High-quality doors usually contain two sealing contours - one on the frame and the other on the door leaf

  6. Threshold. For metal-plastic entrance doors, this element can be frame, steel or aluminum.

    Depending on the purpose of the door and the height, the thresholds may have different designs

  7. Decor elements. There are many options that allow you to implement different design solutions. Plastic can be painted different colors, so choosing such doors will not be difficult for any home. In addition, decorative processing can be performed on the surface of the structure, reminiscent of wood carving, so that an ordinary person will not be able to distinguish a canvas made of polymer from one made of natural solid wood.

If we talk about input metal plastic door, then a quality product must weigh at least 100 kg and have a profile thickness of at least 70 mm.

The main advantages of metal-plastic doors:

  • high thermal insulation characteristics of plastic and the presence of seals. Entrance doors effectively save heat in the house, interior doors provide good sound insulation;
  • large selection of colors. You can choose a canvas to suit any interior, as well as imitate different types of wood or other materials;
  • long term services. Even after 5–10 years of proper operation, such structures do not lose their original characteristics;
  • Ease of use. Metal-plastic doors do not need to be painted periodically, and regular cleaning simply involves wiping with a damp sponge;
  • relatively light weight. No special equipment or special tools are needed for transportation and installation;
  • maintainability. If subsidence of the canvas occurs, you can restore its original position yourself by adjusting the hinges.

Types of metal-plastic doors

Modern technologies make it possible to produce doors of any size and for various purposes from metal-plastic profiles. They are classified according to several criteria.

  1. Purpose. Doors can be entrance, interior or balcony. The latter are practically no different from the entrance ones, but they usually have a ventilation function. Double-glazed windows with impact-resistant glass are installed on the entrance panels, but if the safety requirements are low, then the glazing can be ordinary.
  2. Opening method and design features. Metal-plastic doors are hinged, sliding and folding with single or double leaf leaves of rectangular or arched shape.
  3. Design decision. The appearance may vary depending on the chosen design, color, position and direction of the profile, the presence or absence of glass or a pattern on the surface of the canvas.

Interior doors made of plastic with a metal base

Metal-plastic doors are the most common and affordable solution, with the help of which doorways inside the room are framed. The door leaf can be solid or have a glass insert. For interior doors, a three-chamber profile is used, the installation depth of which is 60 mm.

Interior doors often have glass inserts, and sometimes are completely filled with double-glazed windows

This decision will be excellent option when designing a doorway in:

  • utility rooms, bathroom and toilet;
  • administrative or office premises;
  • medical institutions;
  • partially heated or unheated buildings.

The popularity of interior metal-plastic doors is explained by the following advantages:

  • high sound insulation characteristics - the room can be well insulated from extraneous noise;
  • resistance to temperature changes and high humidity;
  • no fading due to sunlight;
  • high fire safety indicators;
  • ease of care;
  • high resistance to aggressive chemicals;
  • large selection of colors.

If we talk about the disadvantages of such doors, they will largely depend on the quality of their production. The main disadvantages of products made from reinforced PVC include the relatively low mechanical strength, due to which scratches and abrasions will be clearly visible on the surface, and with a strong impact, even damage to the canvas may occur.

Entrance doors

Unlike balcony and interior designs Metal-plastic entrance doors are made from more durable materials and using a different technology. Their main features are the presence of a reliable locking mechanism and high resistance to the negative effects of external factors, as well as temperature changes. The presence of special amplifiers makes such structures especially durable, so they reliably protect the home from possible penetration by unauthorized persons.

Metal-plastic entrance doors usually have a blank panel at the bottom, and sometimes a double-glazed window is installed in the upper part

The main differences between entrance doors and balcony or interior doors are as follows:

  • high resistance to temperature changes allows them to be installed in regions with harsh winters;
  • the presence of a reinforced and reinforced frame, metal inserts, as well as special welded connectors makes such structures resistant to mechanical damage;
  • good noise and heat insulation characteristics;
  • the presence of reinforced fittings, which have a long service life and are intended for frequent use;
  • the locking device reliably fixes the door leaf along its entire perimeter;
  • aluminum threshold increases the service life of doors and protects interiors from drafts;
  • the ability to create different designs, as a result of which such doors are suitable for houses built from different materials.

The disadvantages of the products in question include lower strength than similar ones metal structures, as well as the weak thermal insulation characteristics of inexpensive models due to insufficient insulation of sandwich panels or the use of double glazing instead of triple glazing. Therefore, when purchasing a metal-plastic entrance door, you should give preference to products from trusted manufacturers and be sure to pay attention to their quality - this is the only way you can purchase strong and reliable doors that will protect your home for many years.

Sliding doors

If you need to design a wide doorway or there is no way to install swing doors, an excellent solution would be sliding metal-plastic structures. The use of special fittings makes it possible to move the sash first slightly toward itself, and then to the side, or to open it for ventilation, which is why they are also called tilt-and-slide systems. The sash moves away from the frame by an average of 12 cm, and then slides along the guides and stops after it hits the stopper.

To move such doors to the side, you need to turn the handle 180 o, for ventilation it is enough to move it by 90, and in some models by 45 o. The width of the door leaf can be from 60 to 150 cm, and its height up to 230 cm, while the weight of individual structures reaches up to 180 kg.

Sliding metal-plastic doors can have a leaf width from 60 to 150 cm

Having a reliable support for the sash prevents it from sagging, but long-term operation of such a structure will only be possible if it is installed correctly. To design a wider opening, you can use a bobbin system, which includes two doors that open in different sides. The installation of anti-burglary handles, hooks and shock-proof glass makes such structures safe and secure, so they can be used both indoors and on a balcony or terrace.

The main advantages of metal-plastic sliding systems over similar aluminum ones are:

  • higher thermal insulation characteristics;
  • the presence of two sealing contours that increase the tightness of the vestibule. On aluminum systems, brushes made of bristles are installed, so the tightness will be worse;
  • uninterrupted operation in winter time, since the sash moves to the side and opens easily, and the aluminum guides can become clogged with snow and ice;
  • the ability to open the doors completely or only to ventilate the room.

Despite a large number of advantages over aluminum systems, metal-plastic structures also have their disadvantages: they are heavier, their strength is slightly less, and their cost is higher. But all of them are compensated by simplicity and ease of use, as well as a long service life.

For use in the kitchen, the design can be equipped with a window sill, on which it is convenient to store various items, but when opening the sash for ventilation, they will need to be removed. It is very convenient to use sliding canvases on a loggia or balcony - they do not require free space near the doors, so cabinets or shelves can be installed next to the doorway.

Balcony doors made of metal-plastic

Metal-plastic balcony doors can be made as a single unit with a window or separately. This solution is used not only to design a doorway on a balcony or loggia, but also in a greenhouse, greenhouse, veranda, etc.

The peculiarity of such structures is that they are usually locked only from the inside, and have a special latch on the outside that allows you to fix the door tightly in the closed state. At the customer's request, a double-sided handle, a child lock, and a folding mechanism can be installed. Metal-plastic balcony doors have a number of advantages:

For metal-plastic balcony doors, the same materials are used as in the manufacture of windows, so the designs are similar, although with certain differences:

  • the fittings are of higher quality;
  • the profile is reinforced with galvanized steel;
  • the strength of corner joints is increased due to high-quality welded joints;
  • double glazed windows are installed.

There are several types of balcony doors: single-leaf, double-leaf, sliding and accordion doors.

Metal-plastic bathroom doors

When choosing wooden or MDF doors for the bathroom, be prepared for the fact that after 5–6 years you will have to change or restore them. Metal-plastic doors are an excellent solution for a bathroom or toilet, as they reliably serve for many decades and do not require special care.

Since high humidity often occurs in the bathroom and the temperature changes sharply, the best solution a metal-plastic door will be installed here

The bathroom often experiences high humidity and temperature changes, so increased demands are placed on the materials used in the manufacture of doors for it. Metal-plastic structures have all the necessary characteristics for use in wet areas:

  • do not corrode and are not afraid of high humidity;
  • They are light in weight, so installation can be done by hand;
  • are not afraid of exposure to chemically active substances;
  • do not require complex care;
  • are issued in wide range constructive and color solutions, so the door can be selected to suit any interior.

The only drawback that metal-plastic products have is their low elasticity, so under severe impact loads the fabric can become deformed.

When choosing swing design the size of the leaf in comparison with the size of the doorway should be rounded down, and for sliding doors On the contrary, they do this in a big way.

It is recommended to make a threshold for the door in the bathroom, since in case of flooding, its presence will help prevent water from penetrating into other rooms. When determining the size of the door leaf, do not forget to take into account the height of the threshold. It is much easier to care for a smooth surface, but a fine-grained structure will require more careful care.

Since metal-plastic structures have high tightness, it is recommended to make a grille in the lower part of the canvas for the bathroom and toilet, which will ensure ventilation of the room when the doors are closed. In order to determine the quality of the plastic, you can press your finger on the door leaf: good material will not sag.

Sliding doors

If you need to install doors in a wide doorway and it is not possible to use sliding system, the best option are sliding metal-plastic doors. This design folds up near the doorway, and since it consists of several elements, it takes up very little space. The width of one sash cannot be more than 90 cm, and the height of the leaf can be up to 230 cm.

To design wide openings it is very convenient to use an accordion door

The design features of the accordion door allow it to be used to design an exit to the terrace, in winter Garden or backyard, as well as in office, retail and entertainment establishments.

For interior spaces Sliding structures without a threshold are usually used, and for entrance doors a door leaf with a lower support roller is mounted.

The main advantages of sliding metal-plastic doors:

  • despite the large number of sections, such doors provide high heat and sound insulation characteristics;
  • they can close large openings;
  • for the manufacture of doors, a profile system with a thickness of 60 to 86 mm can be used, which allows you to make both interior and entrance structures;
  • This solution allows you to make the room brighter and more spacious.

The disadvantages of sliding doors are associated with their high cost and the fact that the presence of a large number of leaves reduces their strength.

Sliding door opening patterns are indicated by a three-digit code, in which the first digit indicates the total number of doors, and the second and third - the number of doors that can be moved to the left and right, respectively.

If you need to use sliding door every day, that is, it is possible to install one swing door in it, which you will mainly open. If it is necessary to free the entire doorway, the sliding system unfolds completely.

Blind plastic door

Metal-plastic doors can have double-glazed windows or consist of sandwich panels. To create them, high-quality PVC sheets are used, the space between which is filled with extruded polyurethane foam. Such structures are light, durable, have high heat and sound insulation characteristics, as well as a guaranteed service life of 25–30 years.

Blind metal-plastic doors are usually used at the entrance to the house

If it is necessary to install opaque doors, then filling metal-plastic structures with sandwich panels is one of the most best options. This solution has the following advantages:

  • high heat and sound insulation;
  • relatively light weight;
  • ease of transportation and installation;
  • high resistance to the negative effects of external factors, corrosion and fungus;
  • resistance to moisture and temperature changes;
  • affordable price.

A solid metal-plastic door can be installed both indoors and on the balcony or at the entrance to the house. The main disadvantage of such doors is the possibility of them mechanical damage, and if the abrasions or scratches are significant, then restoring such a canvas will be difficult and almost impossible.

Manufacturing of plastic doors

It is almost impossible to make metal-plastic doors yourself; you can set up small production, but this will require purchasing special equipment and investing significant funds.

The production technology of metal-plastic doors consists of several stages.

  1. Creating a sketch. At this stage, the dimensions of the doorway are taken, the size of the doors, their shape and color are determined. Using a special program, the entered data is processed, the computer issues finished drawing, according to which materials are cut.
  2. Preparation of materials. Before working with materials, they must lie for a day in a room with a temperature above 10 o C.
  3. Profile cutting. Produced using a special saw.

    A special circular saw is used to cut the profile

  4. Cutting and installation of reinforcement. To strengthen the frame, reinforcement is used, which is also cut into pieces of the required size, and then inserted and secured inside the PVC profile. For assembly, a specially equipped table and a screwdriver are required.
  5. Creating drainage holes. If entrance or balcony doors are made, then drainage holes are made in the profile through which water will be drained from under the glass unit.
  6. Milling the cross member. For this you need a face milling machine. After processing, the crossbar is welded and inserted into the frame.

    Milling of the cross member is performed on a face milling machine

  7. Creation of places for fastening accessories. Grooves for locks and holes for handles are created in the reinforced profile. This is done using a copy-milling machine with a three-spindle gearbox, in which the upper platform is movable, and there is a cutter on it.
  8. Welding workpieces. Welding of all parts of the profile into a single structure is carried out using special machines.

    During welding of all parts of the profile, their perpendicularity is controlled, for which special equipment is also used

  9. Cleaning corners. After welding, the seams are processed on a multifunctional stripping machine.
  10. Installation of fittings. Install all the fittings and check their functionality.
  11. Glazing and installation of sandwich panels. Installation of double-glazed windows and sandwich panels is carried out in accordance with the door sketch. This is done on a special stand, where the installed elements are fixed using glazing beads pre-cut to size.

    Double-glazed windows and sandwich panels are fixed using special beads

  12. Checking the door. The operation of the fittings is checked, the structure is square and there is no damage.

Features of installation and operation of doors made of reinforced PVC

There are no particular difficulties when installing metal-plastic doors; the technology for their installation is practically no different from installing other similar structures, so this work can be done independently.

  1. Tools and materials are prepared: tape measure, hammer drill, screwdriver and building level, as well as wooden wedges for leveling the frame and polyurethane foam. The doorway is cleared of debris.

    Before installation, the doorway must be completely cleared of construction debris.

  2. The door block is disassembled, and the leaf is separated from the frame. The door frame is inserted into the opening and, using wooden wedges, is leveled vertically and horizontally using a building level.
  3. Using a hammer drill, through holes are made in the side posts, which are further drilled into the wall. Anchors are inserted into them and tightened manually, all the time monitoring the position of the door frame so that it does not move.

    To securely fix the door frame, three anchors are installed on each side

  4. The door leaf is hung on the hinges.
  5. The protruding parts of the wedges are cut off, the correct installation is checked again, and then the gap between the wall and the frame is filled polyurethane foam. After a day, the remaining foam is cut off. All this time the doors must be closed.

    The gaps between door frame and the wall are filled with mounting foam, which ensures the tightness of all junctions between the frame and the doorway

Caring for metal-plastic doors involves cleaning them periodically using a damp sponge. If the dirt is heavy, moisten the sponge with soapy water or dishwashing detergent. If malfunctions occur, the fittings are adjusted.

Repair and adjustment

Adjusting metal-plastic doors is no different from a similar operation for plastic windows. The fittings on the doors and windows have the same configuration, only stronger and higher quality hinges and handles are used for the doors. Changing the position of a metal-plastic door is done using hinges. The canvas can be shifted in the vertical or horizontal direction, for which there are special adjustment screws.

The metal-plastic door is adjusted using special screws located on the hinges

Removing a metal-plastic door does not require special tools; all you need is a set of hex keys, a screwdriver and pliers. The whole process consists of several stages.

Installation of the canvas is performed in the reverse order.

If there is a need to replace the handle, it is very easy to deal with it on your own.

How and with what to paint a metal-plastic door

Sometimes a situation arises when a metal-plastic door needs to be painted. For this you can use acrylic or water-dispersion paints for plastic. Acrylic coatings are more often used, which are diluted with water and dry quickly. Usually white paint is purchased, and colored powders are used to obtain the required shade.

To complete the work you will need:

  • dye;
  • roller, brush or spray;
  • plastic cleaner;
  • lint-free napkin.

Painting a plastic door is carried out in several stages.

How to shorten a metal-plastic door yourself

Shortening a door yourself at home is quite difficult. To do this you need to have special knowledge and tools. To avoid such a problem, you must immediately take correct measurements and order a ready-made metal-plastic door based on them.

Briefly, the pruning process can be described as follows.

  1. Dismantle the door block.
  2. Cut off the bottom of the canvas and part of the frame.
  3. Prepare an impost (reinforced lower insert) of the appropriate size and attach it to the frame using self-tapping screws.
  4. The seams are sealed with sealant.

If you need to shorten a metal-plastic door, it is best to do this in production.

PVC door care

In order for metal-plastic doors to serve as long as possible, they must be properly cared for:

  • special non-aggressive and non-abrasive agents are used to clean the surface chemicals or ordinary soap solution;
  • rubber seals periodically wipe off dirt and lubricate with special products once a year;
  • all moving parts of the fittings are lubricated 1–2 times a year;
  • if the handle is loose, then it must be firmly fixed;
  • in balconies and entrance structures There are drainage channels that are located at the bottom of the canvas; they must be periodically cleaned of dirt.

Accessories for metal-plastic doors

In order for metal-plastic doors to work long and smoothly, you need to use high-quality fittings:

  • the loops must be strong to withstand the weight of the fabric and have anti-corrosion coating. Typically, metal-plastic doors are installed on three hinges;

    The presence of a closer allows the door leaf to close smoothly, which greatly increases its service life

  • For balcony doors, the most convenient are tilt-and-turn hinges, with the help of which the leaf can be completely opened or placed for ventilation.

High-quality fittings make up most of the cost of metal-plastic doors, so many manufacturers are trying to save money on them, which has a negative impact on technical specifications products and their service life.

A metal-plastic window is a window made from PVC plastic with a metal profile in the middle to enhance the rigidity of the structure.

Metal-plastic window design

A metal-plastic window consists of a frame, sashes, fittings, double-glazed windows and a rubber seal.

The basis of a metal-plastic window is a PVC profile, in the middle of which a reinforcing metal carcass, imparting rigidity to the system. The PVC profile contains jumpers that create air compartments, the so-called chambers. The more cameras, the warmer the profile. Typically a profile has 3,4,5 or 7 cameras.

The reinforcing profile can be U-shaped, L-shaped or closed. In a nominal cross-section, the reinforcing profile is a rectangle. Located metallic profile in the central, largest chamber.

IN installation of a metal-plastic window glass unit included. A double-glazed window is a window element consisting of two or three glasses separated by air or gas space. Two glasses with a layer of air or gas (argon) are called a chamber. The glass unit chambers are sealed.

Silicone-based seals are responsible for window sound insulation. They are installed along the edge of the glass unit on both sides. Fittings play a big role in energy saving, sound insulation, protection, convenience and durability of the window.

Manufacturers of metal-plastic windows

With the increase in demand for metal-plastic windows, the number of manufacturers has also increased sharply. Are all windows the same and what should you pay attention to so that you don’t regret your purchase later?

Metal-plastic window the structure is prefabricated, and their quality is determined by the quality of the components from which the window itself was assembled. First of all, the quality of the profile, the thickness of the reinforcement, the quality of the glass unit and the quality of the fittings itself are important. In addition, trust in the manufacturer and its technological lines, compliance with all technological parameters and processes is not the least important. The most popular profiles are Rehau, fittings Siegenia-Aubi (Germany).

Metal-plastic window: checking windows before installation

What can you advise buyers when they have already received a window? Note:

  • - in appearance, i.e. on the integrity of the window, and also to ensure that there is no difference in color anywhere and the window is truly the same color;
  • — to avoid dents, scratches and other external defects and damage;
  • - on the quality of seams, i.e. seams must be neat, clean and stripped;
  • — on the quality of the glass unit, i.e. there should be no scratches or cracks on it; the double-glazed window must be dry and not fogged in the middle, and must not contain a drop of moisture;
  • — for the presence of screws with which the reinforcement is attached (the presence of screws indicates the presence of reinforcement in your window).

Installation quality control

After metal-plastic window installed, check the quality of installation using the following criteria:

First, check that the frame is securely fastened; under no circumstances should the opening window dangle, deviate or vibrate.

Secondly, check how well the sash adheres to the frame, i.e. it should fit evenly across the entire width and there should be no deviations, otherwise it will blow from this window and there will be constant drafts.

Thirdly, pay attention to the operation of the fittings: open and close the window several times and check how smoothly and softly your fittings “move”.

If you have any comments, immediately ask an on-site technician to correct them, adjust and repair your window.

Which window manufacturer to choose and how to do it practically?

You need to choose a manufacturer who does not chase crazy capacities, but values his good reputation in the market and is responsible for every window he installs. Such a manufacturer can produce windows from ultra-expensive ones (with powerful window systems) to “economy” series windows. Responsible manufacturer of metal-plastic windows must be certified in the country and certified once every two years. Each supplier of raw materials (profiles, fittings or reinforcement) to the manufacturer of metal-plastic windows must supply certificates of conformity and hygienic conclusions. The window manufacturer must issue a passport and warranty card for each window. Those manufacturers who do not have the above documents are sometimes called “garage manufacturers” by real window manufacturers and you should not mess with them.

Good quality metal-plastic window reduces heating costs in winter period by approximately 25 percent compared to the previous heating period, when it was still installed wooden window. Replacing ordinary windows with a metal-plastic window immediately makes the room feel quiet, warm and cozy.

Caring for a metal-plastic window

  • Don’t forget, metal-plastic windows need to be treated with care. If you want your window to serve you for a long time, follow these rules:
  • Do not forget to lubricate the fittings regularly (twice a year), i.e. all movable objects of your window.
  • Use soft remedies for cleaning windows (soap solution or a special product that can be purchased at window care stores). Under no circumstances use powder-like products that may damage the surface of your window.
  • When washing windows, also try to carefully wash the rubber seals so that your window is airtight and retains its properties for many years.

Bottom line

And finally, I would like to note that there are no good or bad building materials, according to experts; What remains important is their correct use for their intended purpose. Yes, of course, a metal-plastic window in a seventeenth-century house will look out of place. However, high-quality windows will be good economically profitable solution for a modern apartment, home or office. And as an argument, just look at the number of plastic windows around.

Modern window manufacturers offer customers a wide range of translucent structures with different characteristics, operating parameters and external design features. Buyers are often lost in the variety of options, not knowing by what criteria to compare models and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages. The most popular windows today are made from, but not all customers know that there are two categories of these structures, each of which has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages.

What is the difference between plastic and metal-plastic windows

Conventional plastic windows are structures whose frames and sashes are made of PVC profile without adding additional reinforcing elements. This type of window has average strength and durability, but is beneficial for the budget due to the ease of manufacture and the relatively low cost of the finished product.

Metal-plastic windows do not differ in appearance from simple PVC products, however, if you look at such a profile in section, your eyes will see the presence of an important additional detail - an internal metal liner -. The internal metal frame increases the strength and reliability of the structure. It is made from steel with anti-corrosion coating, is located inside the chambers of the frame and sash along the entire perimeter. The reinforcing frame can be closed - with a cross-sectional shape in the form of a quadrangle or open - with a cross-section resembling the outline of the letters G or P. The thickness of the steel plate is usually 1.2 -1.5 mm and depends on the load the structure must withstand . The basic requirements for the quality of the material and the method of installing the frame are set out in GOST 30674-99, which is valid throughout the Russian Federation.

Advantages and disadvantages of plastic and metal-plastic windows

Plastic windows

The advantages of plastic windows include their low cost (compared to reinforced analogues) and light weight. These window systems are available to most consumers and perform their functions well for a certain period of time. The light weight of non-reinforced profile windows allows them to be installed on balconies with minimal reinforcement of the parapet.

However, as mentioned above, plastic windows without a reinforcing metal frame are less durable. Most manufacturing plants guarantee 20-30 years of serviceability of such structures when used in normal conditions. The profile is constantly under heavy load: in addition to its own weight, it holds a heavy double-glazed window, which can weigh up to 80 kg.

It is worth noting that even the highest quality plastic can become deformed from sudden temperature fluctuations and prolonged exposure to sunlight. For this reason, the service life of plastic windows in regions with unstable or hot climates will be shorter.

Metal-plastic windows

Reinforcement gives PVC windows additional strength, prolonging their life and increasing their ability to withstand varied loads. Metal-plastic windows are not afraid strong wind, tested by temperature changes, their sashes rarely sag under the weight of the double-glazed window and operate even in super-intense mode. The average service life of metal-plastic windows is 40-50 years. Metal profile reinforcement allows manufacturers to create structures various shapes and not worry about their possible deformation.

Metal-plastic windows also have certain disadvantages that should be taken into account when purchasing:

  1. The appearance of “cold bridges”. Metal elements, compared to plastic, have greater thermal conductivity and reduce the thermal insulation characteristics of the entire structure. To minimize the influence of this factor, manufacturers came up with the following: they reduce the area of contact between the frame and the plastic by installing vertical ribs inside that hold the metal in the desired position.

  2. High price. Any windows made of reinforced profiles (naturally, we are talking about high-quality products) are more expensive than similar models made of ordinary plastic. Galvanized steel is enough expensive material, and therefore the price of structures increases in proportion to the amount of metal used.
When choosing windows with reinforcement, you need to take into account that along with increasing the strength of the window system, the internal metal frame significantly increases its weight. Accordingly, metal-plastic windows are noticeably heavier than conventional plastic analogues. Due to their heaviness, such windows are unlikely to be suitable for installation in buildings with dilapidated walls, and the parapet in front must be strengthened.

Areas of application

Having studied the main characteristics, as well as weak and strengths plastic and metal-plastic windows, you can start choosing the most suitable option for your premises. Each case is individual, but there are a number general recommendations Experts to listen to:
  • For rooms on the upper floors of high-rise buildings, as well as for installation in houses located in open space (with the maximum likelihood of regular exposure strong winds), you should choose metal-plastic windows.
  • Apartments in standard multi-storey buildings large cities located in central Russia (and other regions with a temperate climate) can be equipped with simple plastic windows.
  • Ordinary plastic windows - decent option for buyers on a limited budget.
  • For installation in buildings with large window openings or it is recommended to use exclusively metal-plastic windows.
  • Windows designed according to individual projects, structures of non-standard shape, original models for designer interiors are made mainly from PVC profiles with reinforcement.
  • Glazing of structures that cannot withstand a significant load, for example, balconies with a fragile fence, should be done with products made of plastic profiles without a steel liner - they have less weight and minimize the likelihood of damage or destruction.
