The headset comes in a small cardboard box with shades of red, black and gray, emphasizing the sporty focus of the device. On the front side of the box, the “ears” and their name are directly visible. On the reverse side, under a transparent screen, it is easy to see the EP51 live, a little lower - the main features and specifications. Since we have a non-commercial version, all the inscriptions, alas, are only in Chinese.

After we remove the outer packaging, there will be a black and red color box inside. At the top left, under the plastic cover, there are nozzles of different sizes (S, L and XL). A small nuance: the ear pads are not signed in any way, so they are easy to confuse with each other - by eye they are approximately the same size.

At the top right is a headset, a little lower is a black case, very pleasant to the touch (something like a soft-touch coating). There is a zipper and a rubber "tab" with a white "M" on a blue background. Inside the case are instructions (in English and Chinese) and a USB cable for charging the device.

Introduction

As far as I know, the headset was officially presented in Russia on May 25, 2016 at the presentation of Meizu devices. There were also HD50 headphones, which we reviewed not so long ago.

"Ears" made a good impression, for the money the offer is simply excellent.

As for the EP51, it has two main features: compact dimensions and low price. Since there is no official price yet, we can assume that EP51 will cost potential buyers 3,000 - 4,000 rubles. Since I am a pessimist, I “wang” the cost in the region of 4,000 rubles.

Unfortunately, the Russian representative office does not yet have a separate page with information about the Meizu EP51, so we will focus on the Chinese site Meizu.com.

Appearance, materials

We have seen a similar design (wire and plugs) more than once: Sony XBA-BT75, Jabra Rox Wireless, Powerbeats2 Wireless, etc. That is, in this case there is nothing original here, moreover, the EP51 strongly resemble (colors) the “ears” from the American manufacturer Beats, only they cost several times cheaper.

The Meizu EP51 headset consists of four components: a cable, a control unit, a headphone case and ear pads. The wire is made of rubberized material, rather slippery to the touch. This is done so that the wire does not get tangled. The material is durable: several times I unsuccessfully touched the cable with my hand, and the headset flew out of my ears. Bends or ordinary bends of the wire are not terrible, it is quite elastic.

The control box is made of plastic. On the one hand it is painted in light gray, and on the other it is covered with a rubberized material. The cable and the block smoothly pass into each other and tightly articulate with each other. The block has the following elements: a microphone, volume control buttons (marked with convex "+" and "-"), a concave playback button and an indicator of device operation. Frankly, the buttons are inconvenient to use, as they are practically not felt by the fingers and are extremely tight when pressed. I was especially annoyed by the moments when it was necessary to quickly turn down the volume: you think that you are pressing the "-", but in fact - a little lower, and the button does not work. Of course, this is all nit-picking and taste, but it's worth paying attention to.

The body of the headphones is made of semi-gloss black plastic, the outer side is metallic, matte. In the center is a circle with radial polishing, which plays nicely in the light. In addition, it is worth noting the magnetic holder: if you touch the outer sides of the "ears", they will be magnetized. This is necessary so that the headset does not fly off the neck at the moment when it is not in use. The chip is not new, but still cool. The cable and headphone housing are attached through additional protection in the form of a rubber hose-seal.

The ear pads are silicone and are officially presented in three sizes. However, we must not forget that the ear pads are already put on the headphones, so there are four sizes.

I tried to use all the nozzles, but no matter how I shuffled them, nothing good happened. The headset did not sit well in my auricles: either the left plug or the right one constantly fell out. Rather, they did not fall out, but held loosely, the sound became less bright and juicy, the bass disappeared, and the sound insulation was broken.

Total ease of use. Personally, this headset did not suit me, because absolutely all the ear pads did not fit tightly in my auricle, and the sound became flat. For about the same reason, I didn't like the HD50. There, the size of the bow was clearly made for an elephant: from my head, they slipped almost to the cheekbones.

Sound quality

I honestly tried to use the Meizu EP51 headset for several weeks. Why tried? Since I mentioned above that it did not stay in my auricle. Often I had to put in more, press or even hold with my hand. In general, I didn’t get much pleasure from testing (I’m already reading in the comments “what are you, it’s still fun for him, go work as a loader! ..”)

The sound is shifted to low frequencies, and not buzzing, but velvety and warm. For bass lovers, the EP51 is just right. However, this is where the positives end. The mid frequencies are not worked out in the best way, listening to solo performances is not very interesting. It is also a problem with high ones here - they are practically non-existent.

The EP51 uses the aptX audio codec and a separate CSR8645 chip from CSR.

However, the positioning of the headset is quite clear - sports headphones, so, as I understand it, at the time of training, the sound quality is secondary, the main thing is that they cheer up with rhythmic music and do not fly off the head. Both the EP51 performs one hundred percent. Separately, it is worth noting that the Meizu headset is protected from moisture, to be more precise, from sweat. Once I got caught in a heavy downpour, I forgot to take off my “ears”. This is already the second week, as everything is fine with the EP51. But I don't recommend experimenting.

Working hours

Despite such a miniature size, Meizu EP51 work for about 6-7 hours at medium volume. They were enough for me for 2-3 days, that is, I listened to music for about 2-3 hours a day. In standby mode (connected via Bluetooth) - for a day or two. In general, in any case, you will have to charge them at least once every two days. Charge for an hour and a half.

Conclusion

Once again, I would like to voice the cost: at the moment, according to Yandex.Market, it ranges from 3,100 to 4,000 rubles. I think when the "ears" officially get to Russia, the price tag will be around 4,000 rubles. In various Chinese online stores, EP51 will cost 31-35 US dollars, that is, about 2,000 rubles. Therefore, I advise you not to wait and take right now on "foreign" sites: this is not the price, because of which it is worth killing yourself if suddenly you are not satisfied with the sound.

I would consider Meizu EP51 as a gift, for example, to a teenager: the price for headphones is small, they look cool, they sound normal, but if lost / stolen, it’s a pity, but not to tears.

The Chinese company Meizu does not forget about its origins and continues to produce audio products along with smartphones. Dear sports fans and their sympathizers, especially for you, Meizu has prepared a bright splash-proof wireless headset for the start of sales in Russia.

Equipment

The gray box with red accents to match the headset, visible through the transparent window on the back, certainly took a lot of man-hours to create. Everything here shows commendable attention to detail.

Each accessory has its own place in the pencil case, which opens like a book, and its flaps are kept from accidental discrepancy by magnets. The compartment on the left contains three different sizes of ear pads (the fourth pair is worn on the headphones), squeezing out the rectangular earbud on the left, you will get access to the headset.

Below is a tight case, which contains a micro-USB charging cable, instructions in Russian and English, and a warranty card. The bundle and packaging give the impression of an expensive, premium product.

Appearance

Bright - this is how one word can describe the design of Meizu sports EP51. The red 50cm wire that connects the earbuds to the silver discs is an eye-catcher. Metal circles with the manufacturer's logo are magnetic pads that allow you to snap the headset around your neck when it is not needed.

The part of the case directly adjacent to the ear is plastic. There is a marking right / left, both visual and tactile - a small dot is squeezed out on the sleeve of the right liner.

The sound outlet, as well as the speaker hidden under it, has a diameter of 8.6 mm and a small protrusion that fixes the silicone nozzle. Non-standard solution - finding a suitable replacement for a lost ear cushion will not be easy.

The three-button control panel is made of plastic. In a compact cylinder, there was a place for a battery, a micro-USB slot, a microphone and an LED indicator flashing blue or red, depending on the situation. With its help, the headset turns on, the sound volume changes, the tracks on the player are switched, and incoming calls are received. The remote control is fixed closer to the right earpiece, and this asymmetry negatively affects the ergonomics of the headset, as the wire slides to the right side while running. Not always, but sometimes it gets in the way. As for the fit, provided that the ear pads are properly selected, they hold securely in their places, so the word sports in the name of the headset is not an empty phrase. The only thing after which the liners have to be corrected is the exercises associated with forward bends.

According to the manufacturer, the headset is protected from sweat. Nothing more water-repellent coating does not claim to wash the Meizu EP51 under the tap. Moreover, damage caused by contact with water is not covered by the warranty, as the instructions honestly warn about.

Communication and sound

Meizu sports EP51 are connected to smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0. The manufacturer announced support for the Apt-X codec, which allows you to transfer lossless audio without losing quality. For the headset to work, just select it in the list of devices available for pairing, you do not need to install any companion application.

Meizu EP51 has a range of up to 10 meters in line of sight. If there are obstacles between the headset and the smartphone, interference may occur, starting from a distance of five to six meters, and, nevertheless, the signal is not lost, even passing through two reinforced concrete walls. Routers, cordless phones and other headsets do not have a noticeable effect on sound quality. It is not possible to connect the EP51 to two devices at the same time.

Finally, let's talk about sound. The volume reserve, which Meizu sports EP51 has, will leave the most deaf athlete satisfied. The comfortable volume level, which the author of these lines set during testing, was about a third of the maximum. At the same time, the ear pads do not cut off extraneous sounds well. The frequency range reproduced by the headset is narrow. If everything is fine with the lower frequencies, and good with the middle frequencies, then the higher we move along the spectrum, the more nuances of sound are lost.

Using Meizu EP51 as a HandsFree headset is a completely justified scenario, however, there is no noise reduction here - so, for example, on the run, the interlocutor will clearly hear not speech, but wind noise.

autonomy

At medium volume, the headset is able to continuously delight the ear for 6-7 hours. The current charge is indicated next to the Bluetooth symbol on the notification bar of your smartphone. Our measurements showed an approximate battery capacity of 100 -110 milliamps. It takes just under two hours to charge.

Summing up

With its form factor, secure fit, high volume and magnetic pads, Meizu Headset is a good companion for sports. And thanks to the beautiful packaging, this is a good idea for a gift. Most importantly, do not let music lovers listen to the EP51, they will criticize the sound for a strong lack of high frequencies and, in general, they will be right. That's just for a sports accessory, perfectly balanced sound is not the main thing, and noise isolation that transmits external sounds can be considered as a plus for those of the users who are jogging on the street.

Pros:

  • Completion and packaging;
  • Reliable fastening;
  • High volume;
  • Magnetic pads for wearing headphones around the neck.
Minuses:
  • The headset does not reproduce high frequencies well;
  • The microphone does not have noise reduction;
  • Due to the location of the remote, the headset slides to one side.
May not like:
  • Bad soundproofing.

Visitor reviews for Meizu EP52 Bluetooth Earphone Black-Red

The most common question from clients:

Hello! Please tell me why the prices in your store are lower than in others and sometimes even much lower?

I bought these headphones about a week ago after watching some reviews on youtube. Before that, I used JBL Reflect Mini BT, but once I forgot them while charging in a cafe and have since been looking for a replacement. These headphones attracted in the first place: the popularity of the brand, the form factor that allows you to wear them around your neck and without unnecessary discomfort from a huge unit with a microphone and a battery on the cord, reviews about the sound quality. After a week of use, I noticed a couple of drawbacks: the connection is not very reliable (if the phone is in your pocket, but sometimes millisecond communication interruptions slip through. But this is not regular, so it could be the phone (oneplus 3T). At first, the headphones did not want to connect to phone in audio transmission mode, only as a headset when calling. Reconnected several times and since then there have been no problems, it pairs right away as it should. Perhaps the problem is also with the phone. The worst problem that cannot be solved is the HORRIBLE voice of the interlocutor in the headphones when calling "Wheezing, the sound is quiet and as if from afar. although I can be heard well. But I do not often talk on the headset, so I survived this shortcoming. On the positive side: in comparison with the JBL Reflect Mini, the assembly is much better. The plug of the usb connector sits tightly, maybe even too. apparently for the sake of moisture protection. Plastic is pleasant to the touch, does not interfere with the neck. I am not an audio gourmet and took them primarily for sports. For this sound, hwa melts with the head. Plus a selection of earplugs and spacers allows you to assemble them for yourself. But personally, even with the smallest plugs, my ears still start to hurt after an hour of wearing. There are no complaints about the battery life. enough for a day of occasional listening. All shortcomings pays for an affordable price. I would definitely recommend them for purchase. Thank you player.ru for the very prompt delivery on the day of order.

High quality device. The sound is clear, the bass is excellent. Comparable to the top Sony. I recommend.

In use 2 weeks. The sound is excellent, the headphones do not outweigh, a strong rubberized wire. The battery holds for a long time, charging Pts. fast. The buttons work flawlessly. From the minuses - the signal disappears in the pants pocket, sometimes millisecond breaks, sometimes very sensitive (OnePlus 5t phone). When talking, the voice of the interlocutor is heard as from a pipe. In general, I liked it, excellent sound + freedom from wires.

I really liked the meizu ep52 headphones. light and comfortable. the sound is awesome for the price. minus: there is no charger included. only an adapter. Charging only from the usb input of a computer or laptop. If support would suggest what kind of charging is needed for these headphones? Then I would be 100% satisfied

Answer from the forum: Hello! You can charge using a USB - micro USB cable. The maximum current is 1 ampere.

I BUYED A GIFT TO MY HUSBAND. THANK YOU TO THE STORE FOR THE EFFECTIVENESS, DELIVERED THE NEXT DAY. I RECOMMEND BOTH THE GOODS AND THE STORE.

Alexandra:

I bought these headphones about a week ago not for myself, but I managed to listen and touch them. I was very pleased with the equipment and the packaging in general - everything is very nice and neatly packed, the box closes with a magnet, all the components are quite conveniently packed into separate cells. From the configuration, I was pleased with the presence of a comfortable silicone case, which also closes with a magnet, and, of course, many different options for silicone ear pads, which allows you to choose the most comfortable for yourself. In general, the packaging is very reminiscent of BeatsX, it’s a pity that the bits do not have a magnet in the case. The ears are connected without problems, they charge in a couple of hours, they lie quite comfortably on the neck. They sound very good, a familiar sound expert even said that the sound is better than beats. When talking, the sound is normal, the interlocutor is heard well and the microphone also works without problems, there are no complaints. There are all sorts of cool tricks. For example, when the headphones are magnetized, the music is paused, or if you are talking at this moment, the call is dropped. A trifle, but nice. In general, I think it's a very good device, especially for the money. I recommend.

Good headphones for their price, quite comfortable to use, the sound is clear, although the bottoms rattled for the first few days, but this is normal since the speakers were not loose, then everything became fine and the sound returned to normal, I recommend these headphones for purchase, I listen all day from 9 to 8 intermittently and last until the evening. good headphones

Answer from the forum: Hello! Yes, you can pay this way.

I bought Meizu EP52 headphones: chic sound of very high quality, comfortable, there are a lot of sizes for the ears and a comfortable case. I like everything, I'm just delighted!

Which headphones are suitable for listening to audiobooks on the subway

Answer from the forum: Hello! It depends on your preferences, but due to the noise in the subway, it is better not to take open headphones. These fit perfectly.

Can you tell me when these headphones will be available for sale in your store?

Answer from the forum: Hello! At the moment, the product is in limited availability from suppliers and is out of stock, but we recommend that you leave an order for the product. As soon as the product is available for purchase, you will receive an automatic notification. This pre-order does not commit you to anything. There are no exact delivery dates, but, as a rule, most of the goods reach us within about a week.

The Chinese company Meizu managed to light up in the world of audiophiles thanks to its smartphones with high-quality DACs and amplifiers. Many people liked the HD50 on-ear headphones, which, unfortunately, have not yet been in our editorial office (we will try to fix this). Now we have Meizu EP51 sports wireless in-ear headphones - they are inexpensive, but very interesting.

Contents of delivery

Meizu EP51's presentation is completely nothing - a beautiful box, inside which are the headphones themselves, a case, a cable and ear pads.

Design

Headphones look quite stylish and original. The red cable emphasizes the sporty component, while the black and silver bowls complement it. There are no refined elements in the design, just like the materials - solid plastic and only magnetic rings on the bowls. Matte rubber cable that can snag on clothing. Due to the unusual shape of the ear cushions, the headphones protrude slightly from the ears.

Ergonomics

At first, Meizu EP51 seemed to me uncomfortable and completely non-ergonomic. The reason for this was the unusual ear pads and the shape of the headphones themselves. After some time, I got used to it and realized that the model sits quite well in my ears and you can do any sports in it. It's just that the ear pads do not need to be inserted deep into the ears, which is not quite usual for those people who use classic in-ear headphones.

The in-ear mounts do their job quite well and hold the cups well without causing discomfort at all, but they also take some getting used to at first.

The earbuds are IPX4 rated, allowing you to run in the rain, but
they cannot be submerged in water. The bowls have magnets, which is a very convenient solution (for example, when you need to do a bench press on a bench).

Management, connection

The headphones have three buttons that are located on the remote control - on / off and volume control. You can switch tracks, answer calls, pause, etc. The remote also has a Micro USB for charging. Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR with aptX codec and support for displaying battery charge on a smartphone is responsible for wireless connection.

Sound

For a long time I walked around with the excellent sports headphones Jabra Sport Pulse, which, in terms of sound, are probably close to the ideal in their class. Of course, after "Gills" it was hard to switch to Meizu - the sound is much worse. But for $40, this is a very good option in the world of wireless sports headphones.

Bass lovers will like the sound, it rules everything here. You can't see a chic scene, beautiful mids and highs, but in general, I repeat once again, the picture is quite suitable for sports. C grade sound insulation - in a noisy environment you have to turn the volume up. The quality of the microphone is just quiet horror, it seems that it initially collects all the noise, and only then the voice.

autonomy

The manufacturer claims that Meizu EP51 keep about 6 hours of listening to music. When measuring, approximately the same numbers came out, maybe even more, which is a standard indicator for headphones with such compact dimensions. Charging takes place using the included Micro USB cable and lasts up to an hour.

Site score

Pros: Price, ergonomics (even if it takes some getting used to), design, magnets on the bowls

Minuses: Microphone, not the most ideal sound isolation

Conclusion: Meizu turned out to be a typical product for the company - cheap and cheerful. Yes, there are several drawbacks, but they are not so critical as to call the headphones bad. The model for its money provides the user with not the worst sound, comfortable construction and bright design. In its class, it is clearly worth paying attention to the Meizu EP51.

Good day to all!
I present to your attention a review of the no longer new wireless headset from Meizu with an emphasis on sports. This is my first wireless headset, so do not expect comparisons, but the review was written after six months of active use and contains my impressions and observations. For details, please under cat.
P.S. The goods were bought for their own.

Background, reason for the purchase.

For quite a long time I used the sansa clip zip player, which honestly plowed with me in the hall for a year and a half and eventually died (more precisely, it began to overload, turn off, etc. - they said the skiff was coming to the motherboard), most likely from sweat. To replace it, only the sansa clip sport, which was released on the shelves, was ordered, which has plowed at the moment for almost a year and also began to show the first signs of an imminent death (buttons sometimes do not work, sometimes some button “sticks” without pressing). To be honest, I expected greater durability from a device with the prefix "sport", although no ip or ipx classes were declared, but still. Well, in addition, not so long ago, the sound began to occasionally disappear in the right speaker of the old (3+ years) and sennheiser cx300 II who did not want to give up. Well, since buying both the player and the ears at the same time did not smile at me even once, it was decided to buy a wireless headset. And you won’t miss the call and there’s nothing superfluous, but is everything so good?

I like meizu products for their quality / price ratio and, although I am spoiled by xduoo, ostry, vsonic and even dunu products, I have no particular complaints about the sound quality in a sports headset. If only it was not heard what is usually included in the hall and the sound was not at all porridge. Although the sansa and cx300 set a certain bar, it was not possible to transfer to a piston or hybrid from xiaomi. Well, let's see what the company managed to do.

Purchase confirmation.

Package.

The parcel was packed in the standard way for a girbest, there is nothing to praise for it, although it arrived not very wrinkled.

The back of the box and mx in Chinese.

Of the pluses, it is worth noting that the box came sealed in polyethylene and with intact seals on the corners, i.e. it hadn't been opened before me.
This is what broken seals look like.

The packaging itself pleased, made beautifully, conveniently, stylishly.

You already expect something like this from maze, but it’s still nice to get a high-quality wrapper for less than 30 dollars. As a gift, it also looks very good.

The bundle, as you probably noticed from the photo above, is also good: a high-quality hard case, a charging cord and a set of so-called. embouchure.

Ergonomics, ease of use.

(!) It should be noted that I have never used such headsets and my impressions are based on the convenience of using the usual in-channel headphones. Obviously, it’s not right to make the same demands on a headset, but you need to have at least some kind of starting point ...
In the first minutes, the headset left a terrible impression, my indignation knew no bounds: it seemed that it did not sit well, did not fit snugly into the ear hole and had very mediocre sound insulation. At the very first training, everything dissipated: the soundproofing is at the level or slightly worse than the cx300 (probably a little worse), the fit is quite comfortable, and given the lack of a player and wires, it’s generally comfortable. With quick head turns, running and other physical. the headset does not fall out and does not change its position in the ear during activity, although the difference in weight with the headphones is noticeable.
The control panel on the right side acts like a fly in the ointment - although it is almost weightless, it is still clearly felt, as if slightly pulling the right side of the headset - this creates a certain discomfort. At first, it even seemed to me that the sound in the right and left channels was not balanced in volume ... After 3-4 workouts, I kind of got used to it. Another "trick" of this headset is the magnetic back side of each earpiece, i.e. they can be “blinded” together around the neck, like a pendant, so that they do not fall.
Otherwise, for the most part, the impressions were positive: weight, size and ease of use, considering the price - at a decent level.

Sound.

I won’t even try to describe everything in a sophisticated audiophile language - not the right category of goods, and considering that you still won’t listen normally to dsd or flac 24/192 in them, I’ll just express my opinion.
The sound quality is strong middling: it is absolutely not surprising, but it does not cause vomiting either. The usual and so popular among the people, V or even U shaped presentation, here is slightly shifted towards the L-shaped, i.e. there is no such obvious accent on the tops, but there is a lot of bass in quantity, but of course not in quality. I will tactfully keep silent about the middle. Don’t misunderstand me: the sound seems honest to me and, in general, not bad for its price, yes, simple in-ear headphones for a similar price (the same senfer or tennmak) will most likely win in sound, but will be inferior in functionality.

Wireless, battery.

The manufacturer claims blue tooth version 4.0 + edr and apt-x, but what is much more important is 6 hours of operation from a single charge. The ears have been in possession for quite some time and this is what I can say about this: I did not take measurements, but they really played 5+ hours for the first month or a little longer. Now the real usage time is about 3 hours (from 100% to 0 it is unlikely to exceed 4 hours). after 2 full-fledged workouts (60 + min, sometimes I do 40-45 min) it’s better to put on exercises so as not to press on the third workout to some sad rap.
The "range" of these kids is highly dependent on the environment, according to my observations, this is very much affected by humidity and the number of "bodies" on the way. Yes, yes, it is the “tel” - a square concrete support 1 m thick or more that causes much less problems in data transfer than 1 thin girl who has stopped near your phone. Even your own neck, which “stands” in the path of the information flow of data, can play a cruel joke with you: stand with your right side to the phone, about 10 meters away, hang “pancakes” on the bar, listen to music and everything is fine ... Then turn left, take the bar on your shoulders, start to squat and listen to stuttering! It's like Corey Taylor or Jonathan Davis is suddenly crazy about your technique and can't keep singing no matter how hard they try. In free space and dry climate, they can easily play 15m from the device, at very high humidity (80-100%) the best indicator is 4-5m from the device, seriously - that's so little, even without interference in the form of phytons. At first, when early winter came with its rains and slush (we have it until December), and I moved to the basement hall near the house, I could not even understand and was wildly furious from the constant stuttering of music, despite the phone, which was literally next to me. Then frost hit, it became cold and dry, and everything cleared up. So be aware.
None of the interlocutors complained about the speaking microphone, the noise-canceling microphone also worked properly, even the loud music in the hall did not interfere with the conversation, but at the same time, everyone who called clearly understood when I was in the hall and used the headset.

Conclusion.

Meizu, as always, pleases with quality and affordable price, the product is not without nuances, but this is more likely to apply to any wireless headsets, otherwise it is worth the money. Well, or almost worth it, for $ 20 it would definitely be sweet. I plan to buy +10 Add to favorites Liked the review +18 +29
